Chapter 32 - Marriage

The party continued and everyone enjoyed themselves. Meanwhile, Hailey stayed with Jeremy and his parents who were receiving gifts and birthday wishes from guests. The Roberts with their gift.

"Happy birthday buddy!" Roberts said to his friend.

"Thank you Roberts!" They hugged each other. Everyone exchanged pleasantries. Hailey introduced Jeremy to Stacey.

"Stace, this is my husband Jeremy." She introduced.

"Nice to meet you Jeremy." She said to him.

"A pleasure to meet you too Stacey. Hailey told me a lot about you!" He said and shook hands with her. The trio were engaged in discussion when Mrs Roberts stepped in to it.

"Mind if I join in?" They all nodded.

"I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation." She apologized.

"There's no reason to apologise ma'am. It's alright." Jeremy assured her.

"Please I'd like to borrow Hailey for a little while. I'll return her to you when I'm done. Can I?" She asked him.

"It's okay ma'am. She's your daughter, I can't possibly stop you from having her for the time being." He replied. Mrs Roberts smiled.

"Thank you Jeremy. You're such a nice gentleman." She said to him and Jeremy gave him a courtesy.

"Thank you ma'am." He replied.

"I'll be right back." Hailey whispered in his ear. He let out a faint smile. Hailey followed her mom leaving Jeremy and Stacey.

"How are you doing my dear?" Mom asked her.

"I'm fine mum." She replied with a smile.

"You didn't bother to ask of me or call me." She said to her.

"I'm sorry mum, I really am. I didn't mean to." She apologized to her mom.

"There's no problem. I guess you were busy enjoying the marriage so the thought of me escaped you." Mom concluded with a laugh.

"Uhm I guess so!" Hailey said and mom laughed. The two ladies walked to the quiet side near a fountain. The two ladies sat on a seat close to the fountain.

"I see you must be enjoying your marriage to Jeremy. I can tell by the smile on your face." Her mom said and Hailey laughed.

"Yes I guess. Jeremy ain't that bad. He is a nice gentleman." She replied.

"So how has the few weeks of the marriage been?" She asked.

"It's been okay mum. Trust me, the marriage has been going really well. There's no reason for you to worry." She replied.

"What makes you think I'm worried?" She asked.

"I can tell from your questions and countenance!"

"Okay fine. You caught me Hailey. I'm not worried anymore. I was always scared that you and Jeremy wouldn't get along. I guess it was so easier than I thought." She replied and a faint smile appeared on Hailey's face.

"Hailey, I just wanna let you know that I'm here for you if something goes wrong. Marriage isn't an easy one especially between two individuals who barely know anything about each other."

"My dear, there will be ups and downs but you have to be patient. Some certain situations may make you wanna walk away but you gotta be strong. Will you be strong for me Hailey?" She asked.

"Yes I will mom. Thank you mom!" She replied and hugged her mom.

"I love you dear."

"I love you too mom, so much!" Mom smiled at her.

"Let's go join the others, shall we?" She asked

"Yes dear, let's go!" They got up from the seat and head back to the party.
