Chereads / Making Mistakes / Chapter 2 - Chapter-2

Chapter 2 - Chapter-2

I knew Ravi was very fond of Reema .However I couldn't figure out why Ravi was always hesitant to pamper Reema like the other father did with his child, mostly before me when she was a child, after all. But when he did not find me around her, he played with her a lot and made her giggle. I could see Reema enjoying more playing and spending more time with Ravi. Frankly speaking, his weird behavior made me jump out of my skin many times. I was very familiar with the fact that he adored Reema more than anything , but he did not show it off at any point, especially before me. This weird behavior always pissed me off, but I did not let my anger show on my face. I noticed that he showed indifference toward her most of the time, as if she did not belong to him and he did not bother him. As a matter of fact, that very view immensely pleased my mother-in-law. .I did not know why, because I viewed my mother-in-law as pampering Reema only.

Ravi was conscious of the larger lie that Revati and I had kept telling him from omega to alpha. Even then, he chose not to expose us and made us feel humiliated that he was well aware of all our ruses to throw dust into his eyes. But that big lie always eroded me from the inside. Plenty of times I tried to spill the beans, but I could not muster the courage. He was well acquainted with the news that he and Revati were not Reema' s biological parents. Even after that, he pretended to be unconcerned about our lies before us all the time. Even after Revati' s death, he did not reveal that he was acquainted with the network of our lies, which we both had woven and related, until I came forward and divulged the secret to him.

That day, I felt that if Revati was an orphan, God made up for her absence by providing her with such a charming and devoted husband. Revati was lucky enough to be blessed with such an adorable husband, if not a family who loved her like anything. Even 15 years after her death, no one could ever replace her in Ravi's life. I remained his wife, technically. But yes, she failed to keep him in the dark. The other thing that he preferred to do was to pretend all the time before her that her secret was safe within her heart. Actually, she did not know about her medical report's bitter truth before fabricating the whole story and relating it to Ravi, so that he did not think of distancing himself from her. She was aware that Ravi was very fond of children, and he always mentioned

"We will have a big family, and that includes at least a dozen children. And he will have great fun with his children, and she will cook delicious meals for all of us. "

She was scared of being abandoned when she learned that her condition was critical and she could not conceive even a single baby easily and would not be able to deliver a healthy baby. Plus, she would put her life at risk as well by trying to conceive. And the same doctors had already noted to Ravi that Revati was not strong enough to carry the baby in her womb for nine consecutive months. It could put her life at stake. And Ravi was very clear at that point that he did not need a baby at the cost of his wife. Ravi did not intend to create an image of a greater person or something before her eyes, so he requested the doctor not to let Revati know all these things.

But the doctor stayed quiet and did not disclose to Ravi that his wife was already aware of her medical condition. Therefore, Ravi decided to hide the medical report from his wife. Actually, the doctor was a very good friend of Ravi. At the same time, he was aware that Ravi was a sensible person. And he had a reservation that his wife might try to conceive without letting her husband know and put her life at risk. To stop Revati from risking her life, he decided to take this route.

And so, despite the fact that he was aware of her whole truth, he preferred to stay quiet and overlook it so far. Ravi worked sensibly until she was alive, and thereafter he made me acquainted with his human values and would not let my daughter and me out of his house. He deduced her mental state and the compulsion that drove her to take such drastic measures. He could figure out that her fear of losing him forever compelled her to tell such a big lie in front of her loved one. Therefore, he forgave her and always tried his best to keep her delightful as long as she was alive. He could have a second marriage with some other decent girl of her background and class after Revati's death and start his life afresh. He did not take much time to prove as well that he was not the biological father of Reema through DNA tests, but he did not do anything like that. It could be said that it was just his unconditional love for Revati, and nothing else, that stopped him from bringing the absolute truth into the light. Even in his wildest dream, he could never cherish the idea of tarnishing her image and making her feel terrible before and after her death, in anyone's view. Ravi had true and unconditional love with Revati, which has not faded with time a bit.

Again, his immense love for Revati prevented him from taking Reema and his friend out of his house and life. Ever since his beloved wife had introduced Reema as their daughter to him, Ravi had embraced Reema. He could not cherish the idea of Reema growing up in a dirty environment. At the same time, he understood that I could not provide a good and healthy environment for my daughter. He knew from the beginning that it was I who was the biological mother of Reema. And I got ready to hand over Reema to her for my child's better future. Therefore, he respected his wife's decision and sacrificed for my daughter's better future and got ready to get married to me at her insistence.

Ravi was without doubt a damn good mind reader and a reasonable observer as well. Perhaps that was the reason he was such a successful businessman and popular among his staff as well. So it did not take him much time to get what the other person was thinking about. Plus, what would be his next step? However, he always preferred to stay quiet most of the time in the crowd. But his enemies and competitors did not make mistakes in taking him lightly because they knew he was a sleeping lion. And so, everyone appropriately behaved before him.

Again, Ravi was a workaholic. He could not take a respite until and unless his work was completed. And he scrutinized and analyzed each and every small and big project in the office. But it did not mean at all that he was unaware of any happenings in the home. The other thing was that it was not his habit to poke his nose into household matters every time. But he did not let something happen the way it had been going on if it was wrong. Yes, he intervened when he felt I needed some support or my excessive love for my child was hampering the situation and creating more mess in Reema' s life. Again, it was not his habit to speak harshly with anyone at home or office, yet we behaved in a disciplined manner. It was his aura that automatically created a no-nonsense environment around him.
