Positively, I was making mistake after mistake without weighing the benefits and drawbacks of my decision on my little angel. I could see each of my decisions having an adverse effect on her, and she was deteriorating in everything. I began to do a bartering system with her so that I could not make her sad and avoid any heated argumentation as well. According to this, she would do her studies on her own and show me how to score well in the exam, and in return, I would give her something of her choice. The bartering system absolutely worked on her, and undoubtedly, she did damn well in her studies. But she began to apply the bartering system everywhere. She would not do anything without some conditions, which made Ravi more downhearted. Her demand was not only unreasonable but also without consideration. Finally, Ravi could not bear it anymore and threatened her that studying and scoring well was her duty. She would not get anything in return. I kept standing there quietly and helplessly.
More or less, on the social front too, her story was similar. It is true that she made friends quickly, but she failed at maintaining friendships with others in her previous school. Because of that, she remained alone most of the time in school. Actually, she picked the fight quickly with her friends and all. And she did not want to make the adjustment. Even in school, she wanted everyone to follow her and make her feel important. And that was the reason her friends also hesitated to sit next to her or play with her, because they knew she would bully them around. So she was not popular among the teachers either, because she did not bring the assigned task finished from home. And it had become her daily story to disturb the class with her pranks on other children. And at the same time, she expected she would be given special treatment in school because her father was loaded.
I could still recall it vividly. That day, she was crying terribly just because she was not made a princess in the act and some other girl was assigned to perform that role. I could not see my daughter crying uncontrollably .Instead of making her understand anything, I approached the teacher and convinced her to give her that role. The teacher tried to make me understand that she was their first choice, and they did their best to prepare her to deliver the dialogue, but she failed each time. Eventually, they had to pick another girl. When they saw I was adamant about my demand, they had to change the entire script. Following this incident, she insisted on my visiting the school and requesting that she assign me a meaty role in a school function. I repented. It would be better if I left her crying that day.
She met defeat at every step because she had not struggled earlier to find anything in her virtue and was not watching out. She had registered in her mind that her mother would always make her everything available and she needed not to struggle like others. I failed to teach her how to deal with and accept the failure without letting it mount on her. She did not think about the end result of her actions, and she collapsed. She trusted others blindfolded, as she used to do with her mother. She did not find anyone around her to stand by her, and she got alone. She could not take care of herself because she had registered in her mind that her mother would undoubtedly show up and handle things no matter if they were right or wrong .I was sorry that I did not make her aware of the very fact that everyone had to fight their own battle and win for their survival. Each one has had to struggle there. It was my failure because I could not prepare my daughter for the future and I became an unsuccessful mother.
I always provided Reema with a very protective environment around her and made a big blunder. She could not imagine that someone else could bring her harm. And she would have to be cautious to protect herself. Ravi also told her the same thing: it was high time to make her acquainted with the true world. And being a mother, it was your first and foremost responsibility.
Reema was the only child in such a massive house, and so there was no one stingy enough to shower love on her . Therefore, she had always been an over-pampered child. Unfortunately, it was our over-pampering that got in her way as a hurdle down the road, and she fell behind in taking the challenges of life and accepting the truth. She could not learn and accept that it was not required at all that everyone liked her, and at the same time, she could not insist on anyone liking her too. Actually, I had never thought that our excessive love for her would create such a big havoc in her life in such a manner. Rahul was one of her classmates. And this year, he joined the school on a scholarship. In no time, he became very popular in the class because of his gentle and helping nature. But he avoided exchanging words with Reema because he found her snobbish and spoilt. He was quite good at studying and remained busy with studies and all that. Plus, he did not want to waste his time on gossip and all that.
Obligated by her nature, Reema began to show off her wealth and beauty before her .She reasoned that by doing so, she would include one more person in her gang and gain another bootlicker. But she was extremely disappointed when she saw that Rahul was not like the other guys in the school. He was not interested in joining her group and hanging out with her like others. Rahul was mature enough. He did not take time to get to know Reema. He used to think of Reema that she was good for nothing. And in order to join her group, he would only meet for the purpose of distraction, which was not acceptable to him .He did not like the way Reema disturbed the class with her pranks on the teacher or violated the rules. Therefore, he preferred to have words with those who were good at studying or with those who were disciplined.
Reema did not like the way Rahul ignored her. She could see her gang breaking up since Rahul had come into the class. Then she ended up with a couple of friends. Her gifts could not make them loyal to her anymore. She used to play tricks on Rahul, but somehow he managed to get out of her trap. But Rahul never tried to expose her or take revenge on her. He just avoided her as much as possible. But she mistook the Rahul silence with his love for her.
