"Lord. So homeboy's sister is actually coming with us?" Jade asked in irritation. The two women were now sitting near each other on first class to their destination. Jade managed to snag them first class seats for their trip, which was very much appreciated by Monet. Jade said, and I quote,
"My best friend deserves the best and so she shall have the best."
Which was true because after this wedding, Monet can only hope and pray that she gets to do something like this again without having to beg Trevor.
"Yes she is and she arrives tomorrow," Monet sighed. The mocha beauty saw it best to inform her best friend of their new and unwelcome companion on this trip to Vegas. It was easy to tell that Jade was not pleased at all by this intruder and that she wanted nothing more than for her to go away.
"God. Is everyone in that damn family trying to ruin everything?" Jade asked.
"I don't know and I don't care. All I want us to have is just one last trip to Vegas where we can act ratchet and sleep with some random guy," Monet answered.
"I hear you, girl," Jade replied.
"Anyways, I appreciate you getting us first class tickets. It's so nice being up here," Monet smiled.
"Of course. Anything for my best friend," Jade beamed.
"Work must be going great for you," Monet remarked.
"It is. I met this guy named Johnathan who has connections within the Hollywood film industry and he's taking me to a party in a couple of weeks," Jade informed her.
"Ooh. Fancy," Monet remarked. She was glad that her best friend was even getting her foot in the door with her career. She just wished that she could do the same, but she was getting married to a man that wouldn't allow her to do that. To be honest, she felt very jealous of best friend and the fact that she was about to get further into her career.
"I know right. He even said that I could bring a plus one," Jade informed her.
"A plus one?" Monet perked up.
"Mhm. He was very interested when he heard about my best friend that aspires to become a fashion designer," She responded.
"Jade, you didn't," Monet said.
"I did, girl. I most definitely did," Jade smiled.
"When we get off this flight, I'm taking you straight to the nearest Michael Kors store," Monet told her. The chocolate girl laughed at her friend's reaction along with an older Caucasian woman and a flight attendant that had overheard their conversation. The two other women found it sweet that the two friends were doing such wonderful things for each other.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're the greatest friend in the world?" Jade asked.
"No, but you can start now," Monet answered.
"Monet, you're the greatest and most kindest person in the world and I'm lucky to have you as a best friend. I consider you as my family and will continue to do so till the end of time," Jade replied.
"Thanks, Jade," Monet smiled.
"You're welcome, Mo," She smiled back. The two women relaxed into their seats and began to watch movies on the screens in front of them.
When they arrived in Vegas, the two women walked through the airport to get to the entrance. The two women hailed a cab where Jade told him the address of a car rental place. The cab driver helped them load their things into the trunk. Once they were in, he drove towards a car rental shop. After getting to the shop, Monet paid the driver as he helped them unload their things. They headed inside and rented a nice 2018 Honda Civic with a GPS before driving to the hotel.
When they arrived, Jade parked outside the hotel an went inside to check into the hotel. It took only a few moments, but she was back out there moments later. She gave Monet the keycard to their hotel room while a bellhop unloaded their bags from the car.
"You just head on up to the room while I park the car," She informed her.
"Okay. See you when you get up there," Monet nodded. Monet and the bellhop headed towards the elevator where he rolled the cart with their things. The doors closed and soon they were on their way up to their room. As the elevator went up, Monet counted how many floors they were going up. She became confused by the seconds as they went up because she thought that maybe they had missed their floor. The closer they got to the penthouses the more Monet's confusion turned to complete and total surprise. She could not believe that her best had got them a penthouse for five days on top of a first class flight.
Monet began to wonder about where in the hell did Jade get all this money for them to be able to sleep in a penthouse suite. Questions swirled through Monet's mind as she began to think of the possibilities that could have led to this. When her and the bellhop arrived at the room, he helped her bring the bags inside and she thanked him then tipped him generously for his service.
Not long after, Jade came into the room.
"So? How do you like the suite?" Jade asked.
"Jade, are you dating a drug dealer or are you the drug dealer?" Monet questioned.
"Girl, no," Jade laughed.
"Then how could you afford a penthouse suite and first class tickets?" Monet asked. She became very suspicious of her friend's previous response to the first question.
"Well if you must know," Jade giggled, "I have a sugar daddy."
"Girl, what?" Monet inquired.
"Yeah. I have a sugar daddy and I've had him since our sophomore year of college," Jade answered.
"Wait. How come I'm just finding out about this now?" Monet asked.
"At first, I was a little ashamed to even say anything about it because I was struggling I pay for school at the time and pay rent. I didn't think you would want to hang out with me once you found out," Jade explained.
"Oh, Jade. Even then I wouldn't have dropped you as a friend," Monet told her.
"I know now, but I was just unsure at the time and a little ashamed of myself," Jade added.
"I'm sorry if I made you feel like you had to hide it, Jade," Monet frowned.
"And I'm sorry for not telling you," Jade responded.
"How much does he give you a month so that you can do grand gestures like this?" Monet asked.
"At least five grand a month. I save it up every single time because I don't know when he's going to lose interest in me," Jade answered, "Not only that, but it's helping me to pay off my student loan debts as well."
"Wow. I would have never expected you to have one," Monet remarked. Jade gave her a look that had her laughing.
"Okay. So maybe I kind of, sort of, saw you having one, but I didn't want to say it out loud," Monet replied.
"Mhm. Well it's all thanks to him and my good looks that we were able to go on this trip," Jade informed her.
"Did you tell him about this entire thing?" The mocha woman asked.
"I did and he gave me a little extra to have some fun," Jade smiled.
"So what do you have to do to keep the money coming?" Monet asked clearly intrigued.
"Most days I have to call him early in the morning to say 'good morning', to see if he's eaten breakfast, lunch, or dinner, to check to see if he's feeling, and his other little stuff like that," She answered.
"What else do you do besides that?" Monet inquired.
"I'm not going to lie. He is a very good looking man and I will sleep with him, but we do use protection at all costs because he doesn't want any accidental pregnancies or anything like that," Jade truthfully stated. Monet, although she was clearly surprised, was impressed that her friend had a sugar daddy. She did think at some point that Jade would have one, but felt guilty afterwards for thinking that because she felt that her best friend would get upset if she did.
"Do you have anymore questions for me or is that about it?" Jade asked.
"No I don't," Monet shook her head.
"Good. Now let's get dressed and ready to hit the town," Jade told her.
"Before we do that, do you mind if I take a nap or something? I'm jet lagged," Monet responded.
"Sure sure. Maybe I should take one too," Jade nodded.
"Cool. I'll set an alarm," Monet said.
"Alright. Me too," Jade responded. The two women tied down their hair before kicking off their shoes and getting under the nice and fluffy hotel sheets. The bed was large enough for the two women to sleep in together.
At around seven pm, the two women woke up and got up to get ready. They both took turns showering, they started their hygienic routines, put on their make up, donned their best outfits and shoes, and headed out with their purses that had everything they needed from their phones to their wallets, their key cards to their rooms, and pepper spray.
"Let's go do some things that we'll look back on and laugh about in the nursing home," Jade grinned.
"Girl, you stupid," Monet laughed shaking her head. The two women headed to the elevator chattering excitedly about what they should do during their first day in Vegas. There were many things they both wanted to do, but first they needed to eat something.
"There was a restaurant we passed by on the way over. Do you want to check on out?" Jade asked.
"Sure. Hopefully, they're good," Monet answered.
"That or else I'm giving them horrible reviews on yelp from five different accounts," Jade said. Monet laughed from beside her.
"You're stupid," Monet shook her head. The elevator finally reached the lobby and they both headed out to the parking lot. They got into the car and headed towards one of the restaurants they saw on the Vegas strip. They decided to go to a restaurant called Lago. When they arrived, Jade parked outside so Monet could go inside and check the wait time. Once that information was found out, Monet walked out and told her that it would be at least forty-five minutes. Jade decided that it was best to stay there so she parked the car and headed inside with Monet. They sat down and waited for a table.
"So what day is his sister coming?" Jade inquired.
"On our third day here," Monet answered.
"When is she leaving?" Jade questioned.
"Around the same time as us," Monet responded.
"Ugh. Why in the hell is she even tagging along? It's supposed to be a trip for the two of us, not three of us," Jade scrunched up her fave in annoyance.
"Well my parents and her parents were there. I could not flat out reject her without getting scolded on both ends," Monet rolled her eyes.
"Ugh. She's such a nuisance. I bet she's only coming to watch you every move," Jade groaned.
"Of course she is. Her brother, my parents, and her parents would want her to. They don't want me acting too wild," Monet responded.
"Your parents need to get with the times and realize that you're it's the 21st century. Times are changing and women have rights," Jade said.
"That we do, but you know how my parents are. They don't want to hear that," Monet sighed.
"I can't wait to have children so I can tell them that there is more to life than being a wife," Jade told her.
"Me too. I want my children to want more for themselves than to just be tied down to a man for he rest of their lives while their dreams are completely locked away in a box," Monet agreed.
"And wasting decades of their life staying with a man who does virtually nothing for himself while doing everything," Jade shook her head.
"My sons especially will grow up learning how to cook and clean. They will learn that women are not there to be their therapist or their maid," I responded.
"My children will all be equal in terms of how I treat them from the chores to the way they're supposed to act. No more of that 'girls act one way while boys act another' bullshit. It's a tired and flawed rhetoric that needs to change, especially from the shit I've seen with your brother," Jade explained.
"My brother is an example of what and what not to raise or marry," Monet agreed. It was true that her brother was like that because he didn't know how to cook, clean, or even fold his own laundry. He was just a literal man baby that expected to be taken care of at all costs.
"He sure is and I'll make sure to use him as an example of what and what not to become for my sons," Jade murmured.
"Amen to that," Monet muttered.
