Obviously, I was bluffing. There was no way that I a mere mortal like me could beat a supernatural presence like him. Or so, had I thought until I saw that look on his face. Forbidden Magic, he says. I could understand why he said that. If this technique required mana from its surroundings, and a novice like me was eating it up at such an alarming rate, then I wonder how the mastered version would look like.
Anyway, back to the actual battle. Using the energy collected,(stolen would also make sense), I formed a lightsaber out of it. Something like the one in Star Wars. I was swinging around it to intimidate my opponents but to no avail, they didn't even budge a bit. Now I felt like a fool. But Blake got up to his feet. Perfect! As long he got the spirit, it shouldn't matter.
My failures have finally led me to this moment. And then, slash! I sliced him into pieces, with no trace of his existence. "MASTERRRRRR!" Finally, it was over, VICTORY! THE END!
HOLD UP! This wasn't the time to get lost in stupid fantasies! Just because I made him shiver, and scramble on the ground on his bottoms, it doesn't mean I can feel overconfident. This is one of the reasons why I always remained founded, irrespective of the situation I was in. Confidence is the equivalence of arrogance.
"So, what will you do? Put up a fight or accept your fate, and leave your last will behind? The choice is yours." I laid the options bare in front of him. I had no clue whether I had an advantage against him in the first place. But whatever my situation was, I needed to put up an act that I could take him to the depths of hell. Wait, that must be where he's from. Then I shall take him to the gates of heaven? Or a land of nothingness? Whatever, as long as I can make him think that he'd be in for a world of pain, that'll do.
He got back up to his feet, with the help of Spencer. If I had to bet my money, he's more likely to be the butler of Blake. Looks like they've still yet to get caught up to modern times. "I've got to give it to you. No one in recent years has given me this much trouble as you have."
"Thank you for the honest admiration though I do have a question that I'd like to ask. When you mention "in recent years", you seem to give the vibe that you've lived a long life. How old are you, if you don't mind sharing some key insight to this dumb fool?"
"You indeed are a strange fellow. While I do praise you wholeheartedly, do you contradict it by labeling yourself as an airhead? Honestly, you humans are a strange species in itself, and you seem to be at the pinnacle of "unbelievable." Pfft!"
"Anyway, to answer your question, in terms of human's lifespan: I'm over 100 years old. In terms of a vampire's lifespan, I'm just 20 years old. Since you don't seem like the dumb type, I'll leave the math up to you."
"Wait, you're an old man, and yet you're just 20?!"
"How did you end up with that conclusion?!" He snapped instantly. Looks like I hurt him badly. Emotional Damage going well. Just got to keep it up.
"You know what? It's fine. I will acknowledge that you are a worthy opponent, and so, I'll go all out." Huh? All out? So he wasn't even fighting to the fullest just now. What the hell? Is he serious?
"Spencer!"
"Yes, sire!"
"You know what you must do. Triple boost the barrier!"
"But sir, that will even raise his level!"
"Just do as you're told!"
"Yes, sire!"
I feel as though I'm back in the medieval period. Honestly, were one of them acquainted with some poet of that period or what? With that being said, the barrier was boosted thrice, and the surge in energy within me was drastic.
"So, you're still withstanding it? Let's see how long you'll last." He unleashed the eyes of the bat! At least, that's how I like to call it. The crimson red eyes rattled the spiritual presence within this dome. "UNLEASH! VALLEY OF DARKNESS: SHADOW CHIMERA!"
A dark, hazy, and cold fog covered the entire surface, and suddenly, a sea of arms grabbed hold of me, from head to toe. The sight of so many arms made me quiver. I wanted to shout atop of my lungs at that very instant, but even my mouth was covered. Slowly from the further end of the dome, emerged two large Chimeras, howling loudly. Suddenly, they had their eyes set on me.
"GO!" The wild and gashly beasts started to move towards me almost at the speed of light. But all I could hear at the time was my own heartbeat. No, that's not it. There's something else. The bracelet on my arm started to glow brighter, and brighter. All of a sudden, everything just went dark.
I was back in that dark space. But this time, I could move on my own. Every time I took a step ahead, a ripple effect was carried out in the dimension. And soon, at the center of it all, was the transparent crystal, that was supposed to be in my bracelet.
"You held your ground well, young man." It was that voice again.
"Who are you?" This time I could speak out clearly.
"An ally."
"Then why won't you come forth? How am I supposed to trust you?"
"I have my reasons, and time is not ripe yet."
"And when shall that be?"
"Patience, my dear boy! Patience! As a token of gratitude, let me help you!"
I felt a warm sensation for a moment, near my chest, almost as someone tapped it just now.
"You shall be fine now. Farewell"
"Wait!"
I opened my eyes, to look at a clear sky, on a hot summer day. I wanted to move around but my body wouldn't move. "STOP! Don't move." A familiar voice called out to me, as I saw that I was on Emily's lap. She seemed to be healing me.
Further away, lay Blake, motionless. There were some people who circled around him. From what I felt, they seemed to be healers of some sort.
"What happened?" I asked, with a weak voice.
"You don't remember?" Emily responded, a bit perplexed, and a lot worried. "You beat Blake! You destroyed him!"
Huh?
