Before this information gets lost, it's good to have a glossary. What old man Sphinx said was the domain barrier is just to keep the destruction levels contained and to not let the alchemy tamper with the outside world. Basically, it'd the same as the principle of nuclear weapons. But, that doesn't mean that it's only a dome space to seal off the magic. In turn, because only certain high-caliber warriors can use that, (also mentioned by the old man) it's safe to assume there is an advantage. At least that's what I'd like to believe.
So, in order for me to overpower his alchemy, I'll have to first nullify this dome. But that also begs the question, "What if I just end up bringing unwarranted trouble upon the other students here?" It's not a given that my theory is right. Plus, I don't know how the concept even works. Should I look for an alternative? Right then, the thought of contacting Emily arose. But I quickly shut it off. There's no way I could involve her in my mess.
With very less options at my disposal, I was in a bind. The thing is, firstly, I have zero confidence in my alchemy, and secondly, I don't even have a clue about what kind of alchemy it is? That being said, I did try it out a few moments ago but that's that. The whole idea of this challenge was to unleash my alchemy and figure out its origins, or something like that. But the only thing I've done until now is use the upgraded physical stats that I gained recently.
I need to focus. Clear out my thoughts. Complete silence. The footsteps. They're getting louder and louder. The faint droplets of water caused a ripple in the pool. Shadows being manipulated. I could sense it all.
I suddenly felt something catching my feet. If I were to take a guess, probably one of his shadow clones was at work, holding me intact so that I wouldn't escape. The very same recital again. Some chants emerged louder and louder, pulling away from my focus from what I intended to do. I placed my left hand on the bracelet on my right hand, and directed all my focus onto the keystone, seeking answers desperately.
To my utter dismay, nothing happened.
"Tenebras mergunt. Vmbra pila!"
The shadow ball this time was directed towards me. And all I could do was sense its spiritual power getting stronger as it was picking up speed. All while I had my eyes shut, the dark barrier was suddenly filled with a luminescent illumination, and I could sense something charging into me at the speed of light. Before I knew it, I had both my palms on the ground and created a barrier.
I could feel the shadow ball approaching me with a stronger spiritual power until it faded away all of a sudden. Huh? That's strange. I don't feel anything. All of a sudden, I was able to move my legs freely. I slowly opened my eyes, to meet the look of astonishment on Blake's face, and a look of horror on his subordinate.
I could sense some magic flowing into me now, as I was surrounded by a barrier. This feels strange, and yet, quite soothing. I didn't know what this was but still, as long as it worked, I didn't bother about the minor details at the moment. But sadly, I couldn't say the same to my fellow warrior on the other end of the battlefield, who was now furious. Reason? I don't know.
"You insolent fool! Do you know what you've done?" I could sense his fury cracking up the dome that was built around us. But soon enough, I understood that wasn't the case anymore. Instead, it was the barrier around me that was eating up the domain portal. So this technique fed on the spiritual energy around me? But something bothered me. How do I stop it?
Suddenly, I heard a voice from the other end. "Spencer! Come forth!"
"Yes, my liege!" So his name is Spencer? Well, that's good to know, I guess? But the fact that he called in his subordinate, whom he despised for even raising the idea to challenge me for a 1 versus 2 duel just makes me wonder what is he willing to do?
"That right there is the forbidden spell. No alchemist in the past 800 years has dared to unleash it. The reason is, it eats away anything that stands in its territory, leaving a space-time dimensional rift in between the real world and the alternate world, be it the dome battle territory, the demon world, or anything. It shall eat away anything in that zone in each and every world, causing a space-time catastrophe. I'm afraid to say this but I shall have to seal you this very instant! Your existence is a threat to the world itself!"
"Master, I'm ready!"
"Alright then. Let's do..."
"Oi! Where are you looking at?" At the very moment, he took his eyes off me, I stood next to him, catching him off-guard. Frightened with me next to him, he pulled out a sword from his shadow and swung it at me. For some reason, it was slow, and I was able to catch it. The moment I did that, it turned to dust.
"Master!"
"Look out you fool!" A blizzard storm was unleashed towards me, in a desperate attempt to save his master. But as soon as I just raised my arm, all of the storms disappeared. No, what I should say is, I absorbed it.
"What are you?" In his desperate attempt to run away from me, he tumbled down and now started to move back, while facing me with fear. "I'm one of the well-renowned and strongest warriors in the demon realm of the modern era. How is it that you put me down to such a state?!" He got up, charging up his powers, in a desperate attempt.
"What are you? That's a simple answer. I'm just an ordinary human, and also, I shall be the one to end you."
