Chapter 16 - Decisions

İt has been a week since they returned with Jira… Arlo did a small huff after closing the door of his office. A week of interrogation by undead monsters and she said nothing.

Maybe the living standard is too high for a prisoner? The brigands would hunt a deer and roast it for every meal because otherwise there would be no food needed for skeletons.

She once said the prison cell she was in reeked of alcohol, Arlo did not mind it. Truth to be told he might be going too easy on interrogating. She can see right through his intentions.

But only once she talked about a lord like the one Arlo encountered back then. The demons are the followers or in a sense the foot soldiers of its army. When Are asked their intentions she talked about a Hero that was summoned from the heavens not long ago.

'A hero huh?' Arlo thought while heading down to interrogation.

'What if I killed the ever-strong hero?' He tried to let out a maniacally croaked laugh to scare Jira but only a faint roar was heard. Before he could enter the half destroyed room that had a couple of candles lighting it he heard the smug lunatics voice.

"Welcome back Boney!"

'She is at it again…' he thought. He entered the room and sat on a stool in front of the barred cage-like structure.

The demon woman squealed with excitement once again. "İnterrogation again?"

"Yes."

"Alright then."

But Arlo did not talk this time. He just stared at the lunatic as she smiled sheepishly.

Arlo poured an awful stenched liquid onto the torch and made it go out. The slimy liquid dripped down while the thick smoke covered the room. He observed once that this stench made the woman uncomfortable and stressed. Maybe it was actually awful for mortals?

—-----

Time passed by and Arlo did not make any progress once again.

He was frustrated as a skeleton can be. How could a woman be so rough when it came to investigation?

The lumber croaked as he walked on them back and forth. He needed to make a decision.

What would it be? He could not make up his mind.

Jira chuckled once the brigands came to take her out. Her smile straightened as she watched other skeletons gather at the gates.

"Are we leaving the fort?" she asked. One of the brigands made approving sounds.

They delivered the woman to Arlo. He seemed puzzled but serious. Jira could somehow make out Arlos mood from his dull skull.

"Take us to your lord demon!" Bral growled while the brigands loaded weapons and supplies to the makeshift horse cart. Arlos orders were carried out perfectly for its production. Who knew barrels can be made into carts?

They left the fort.
