Chapter 33 - Healing a scar

Inshal blinked as a warm, dim light flooded her vision. Marlos chest rose under her and she looked around the room; nothing was different, nothing was off but a feeling flooded her, a feeling that something's off... wrong. Inshal couldn't stand it, she wanted to tear her claws into something as the feeling was eating her alive. "You don't have to keep your gard up" Marlo yawned as he sat the both of them up.

"I'm not leaving my gard up" Inshal flicked her ear.

"So why so tense?" he asked stretched his back.

"Nothing" Inshal mumbled getting of the bed.

"Well your father wants you to be on the earth so let's get prepared to make the journey back to camp" Marlo informed, 'when did he say that?' Inshal asked herself yawning on the outside. "Come then" Marlo stood up with her and a gusting his crown, "your one should be done" he put his and on her back and guided her down the tight halls. "King Marlo" the blacksmith bowed, "Queen Inshal I have your crown ready" he gently picked up a crown just a bit smaller then the one Marlo was wearing. Inshal couldn't remover her eyes from it, the thought that it was hears made her feel a pride. She picked it up and placed it snug on her head, it left space for horns and ears and the feeling of it made her feel stronger then before. "Perfect" Marlo pulled her in close with a smile.

"See you around King Marlo" the blacksmith dismissed himself.

"Yeah, see you" Marlo walked out and Inshal followed him. They went to a room filled with all different types of weapons and she found a bow. It was twisted and dark not like the pure and bright bows she used in the hevens but she layed eyes on it. "Like the bow?" Marlo asked with a smile.

"I used to love practicing with it" Inshal remembered back when her mother taught her how to use it, "I was one of the best" she smiled to herself.

"I could get one made for you" Marlo held onto her waist and kissed the top of her head.

"I would love that" she embraced the hug but she felt nothing from it, she would imagine hugging FunPup and her heart felt like fire.

"Come on I came here to get one of my swords" Marlo went to the back, there was a large, dark and twisted sword. Sitting on the pedestal it looked threatening enough to keep any beast at bay. "This is my blade" he picked it with ease, "it has been with me ever since I first stepped in the under" he explained.

"You wasn't born here?" Inshal asked after thinking a little.

"No" he spoke a bit too quickly, "my parents were a bit different" he semi explained but his tone was of.

"Ok" Inshal shrugged and decided to keep it in her head for now.

"Lets go" he moved to the door once her put the sword on his back, "our cart should be ready".

"You use horses?" Inshal asked not to sure on how she feels about it.

"Yes" Marlo moved his arm so he can hold her close, Inshal embraced him, "they feel more right then cars and motorcycles" he explained. Marlo showed her to the gate of the castle where two twisted horses were connected to a cart. There were 5 of them and she saw Darkin get into the one behind the one Marlo was walking to. Inshal found it very comfortable and she felt as if she can actually relax herself. "Nice isn't it?" he asked and she nodded, the cart began to move and after a while she began to feel a bit moton sick. "You good" Marlo clearly laughed but he seemed to try and hide it.

"Yeah I'm fine" she flicked her tail. Her mind went to FunPup, her soft pink fluff, her rich brown eyes and her soft but strong willed voice, Inshal craved it.

Inshal knows she can't, Newlaw himself told her to give up and if she is allowed, it will risk her position as a spy and she would be killed. "Something bothering you?" Marlo asked and she snapped out of her thoughts.

"No" Inshal heard how soft her voice went.

"You sure?" Marlo pulled her in close, "you don't look all that calm or happy".

"I'm fine" she insured, "nothing you should worry about" she almost muttered.

"You know every time I hear that," he pat in between her horns, "something bad always happens".

"Nothing you should worry about" Inshal repeated herself.

"I'm going to be on gard for the next few years" Marlo half joked but his tone that told her that he actually will be on gard.

"Alright but you don't need to worry" Inshal repeated once more.

They travelled for a few hours but eventually made it to the cave with the portal. "Marlo" Inshal nudged his shoulder to get his attention, "we're here" she got of and walked towards the glowing, dim sphere.

"Let's go" Marlo had a tiny hint of worry in his voice, 'is he scared? something is bothering him' Inshal felt more curious then worried about him.

"Come on then" she jumped in and her body went from bolling to ice cold as if she was in a room, surrounded by icebergs. Once she fell out, she sat exhausted for a moment, 'this explains his hesitation' she laughed to herself. Only a few seconds later Marlo emerged, "You should've waited for me to tell you the consequences of leaving the underworld" he almost scolded.

"Well I know now" she stood up and Marlo looked as if he could sit down for a minute, "need a second to rest?" she asked.

"No, I'll be fine" Marlo leaned on the wall.

They waited for the rest of the soldiers to emerge, Darkin was the last. "Alright!" Marlo called out to all the demons who sat on the floor clearly hating life at the moment. "We got to get moving, camp isn't too far" once he finished and turned to the exit, all of them, except Darkin, punched the wall, floor or their own knee. "Quite complaining!" Inshal hissed, "we've got worke to do" she felt like she could snap.

"Good" Darkin pulled her aside, "you do know how to keep them in line" he complemented.

"Thanks" Inshal looked towards Marlo, "we going?!" she asked and Marlo nodded. Like a flock of birds they flew high in the clouds but Inshal could hear the quiet complaints of the cold. It took them the hole day to get to camp, the demons that was already at the camp looked so dreadful and tried to be more active when they saw Marlo.

"Come on we need a meeting!" Marlo called and they all gathered the way they did when she told them about the elfs. Inshal stood by his side but it felt a bit wrong, in the underworld he blended in and it felt natural but now... he looked so out of place and she hated it. She pulled a fake expression to hide her thoughts and Marlo ordered a rescue party. "Inshal with me" he ordered, "I'll get you a bow" she flet her face lit up when he said that.

"Come on" Marlo moved to the weapons tent, "here" he passed a bow with deep blue spirals.

Marlo marched his demons to the elfs lab. "We should rest a little before attacking!" Marlo allowed them to sit down and make a fire that she became familiar with in the underworld. All of them sat infront of it, some a bit too close but Marlo sat away from the army. "For a king who is about to attack an elfs lab, you don't look to happy" Inshal sat with him.

"That spell they used on you" Marlo began, "I'm the reason why they even made it" he explained.

"Can you tell me how?" Inshal asked a bit confused.

"I used to terrorise them as it was so easy, they had magic but nothing that could harm us" a tear formed but he rubbed his eye. "With their fear and anger one managed to create a new spell, every elfe was able to learn it but I was the first one they shot it with. My body went into a shock of cold and heat, pain overwhelmed me and I couldn't move, if I did it got worse" he looked at her.

"I know" she nodded.

"They were able to get an upper hand on my soldiers and they began to fear elfs, if that happens again... I fear my kingdom won't be able to recover from a time like that again" Marlo frowned. "This spell has killed those dear to me" he finished and moved closer to get a better look.

"It almost killed me" Inshal mentioned, "does it work on angels?" she asked.

"Yes" Marlo had a look and Inshal couldn't tell what it was, "they have committed sins that Newlaw had to intervene with, I assume you know who he is".

"Yes my mother told me" Inshal nodded, she looked at the lab a saw the side where they were chained and more then double the gard was there.

"Then you know why this is bad?" he asked and Inshal nodded, "the first time my crown was almost brocken".

"All we have to do is not get hit, if they do I'll make sure they won't brake" Inshal looked at the lab once more and saw the gards were getting tired.

"They are at the weakest" Inshal informed, "we should move now".

"Good" Marlo smiled, "everyone let's move!" he ordered and all the demons got in a position to attack.
