Chapter 36 - Long lost from home

As the wind blew on Willows fluffy fur, a shiver ran down her spine. "Cold?" Coles voice startled her and she jumped, "relax, calm yourself, do you need to be anywhere or just lost?" he asked moving to a comfortable position.

"I guess I could get home" Willow shrugged but a deep feeling stabbed her in the heart.

"That is?" Cole asked, "can you even go back?" he gave her look, she couldn't recognise it but she knew what it ment.

"I don't know" Willow flicked her ear and frowned.

"I'll take you back, if they try to kill you, I'll give you a spot in my nest" Cole offered and Willow just looked at him.

"Ok" Willow nodded, "ok" she stared of in the distance for a while.

"I don't know what you're looking at but I bet it seems interesting as you're not moving" Cole joked with a friendly grin.

"It's south" Willow explained, "tucked snug in the forest and you won't miss the main road that conects to it".

"Ok let's go" Cole jumped and helped her up, "so how far do you know?" he asked.

"Probably a few miles" Willow shrugged.

"Well then we should get moving" Cole began to move south and Willow followed closely behind. They didn't talk most of the way and all Willow could hear was a soothing but unsettling hum of Cole, "what is that?" Willow asked as he has repeated it 5 times already.

"You don't recognise it?" Cole sounded a little affended, "not by instinct?" he asked.

"Maby" Willow shrugged with a slight frown, "I find calming for how creepy it is" she explained thinking it will help him.

"At least you find it calming" Cole gave a tone that told her that he is judging. "It's a song that was created with the first vampire -pure vampire- and it has been tought with the vampire blood ever since" he explained.

"What is it about?" Willow tilted her head as a look amusement flashed his in his eyes.

"The first vampire faced a lot of confusion, lost of control and heart ache" he began as they walked down the hill and up rivers. "He created each verse with every large moment of his life, he spoke Latin but had an English accent so the song is in the language Latin but with the English grammar system".

"That's... a little complicated" Willow commented.

"It is but once you know it it's easy to understand" he promised her.

"You know what I'll give you the translated version" Cole looked at her with a somewhat sympathetic look, "I doubt you'll know Latin".

"No" Willow shook her head in an apology.

"Well it goes:

By the blood that rushed on the beach, the sea has turned red, as my arms reach, my heart beats deadly. Love stabs like spike, my eyes are blinded and reborn and the night grows dark. As I wake the trees bleed and my sight is stunned.

As kin and alise turn with me, but first agent me my life turns to the moon. The blood beats like my heart and it runs down the wooden carts.

As the bolts from the crossbows miss my wings, I see them switch from their nature to a hunter. My thangs dig deep to the truth as I cannot trust anyone.

The ice grows welcoming and the heat dies knowing it should have one. A plant, deadly to mortals but powerful to me, as the night provides shade.

I look to the past but all I see is the fields of meadows and willow trees, I shall not die but only slumber." Cole finished and his voice sounded beautiful but the song wasn't fitting to his tone.

"Do you ever wonder where the first vampire came from?" Willow asked after a while of quiet walking.

"Every now and then but that's just left unsolved for thousands of years, I think it's nearing to a million now" Cole answered and Willow began to question his age, 'he looks and sounds soo young, surely he is a newer pure vampire".

"Cole" Willow called his name and looked at her with far too innocent eyes to be a vampire.

"Yes" he spoke, "something wrong?" he asked.

"No, may I ask, how old are you?" she asked and Willow couldn't tell if he was affended or amused.

"All pure vampires are the same age" Cole began, "you really don't know?" he sounded amused but his eyes looked angry.

"No, I thought you were born at separate times" Willow confessed and Cole had a look of pure confusion of her answers.

"I'm just gonna pretend I never heard you say that" Cole walked onwards, South and they went quiet most of the way. It has been hours of awkward and silent walking, trotting through filds, forests and crossing rivers. "So how far do you think it is again?" Cole asked braking the unbearable silence.

"I don't know" Willow sighed, "nothing looks familiar and we are definitely in human territory" she observed the surroundings once more and it all look unfamiliar and she felt a threat would jump out at any moment.

"Well sun's is almost up" Cole mentioned, "I'll die if we stay out here, how in the world do you not die when you're in the sun?" he asked.

"I had a friend who has this complicated technique to make your body and mind feel as if it's still in the shade" Willow explained with an exhale of a deep breath.

"How does that work?" Cole advanced his position on her with a hopeful look.

"I don't want to start a nest war or what ever you call it, my friend is from a different nest" Willow explained.

"Oh don't worry, they won't know" Cole smiled, "teach me, I've never been able to touch the sun's embrace".

"I don't know if I can" Willow pinned her ears, "maby if I can get Shade to-" Cole cut her of.

"SHADE!!!" Cole outraged and punched a tree till it colapsted, "that slippery, d-ck head of a fox! found out how to ignore the sun before me!!" he hissed and Willow crouched on all fours backing up.

"Get up!" Cole ordered, "we are getting Shade" he gave her a look of hatred.

"So what did Shade do that you want him dead?" Willow asked in a soft voice.

"Oh I don't want his dead" Cole shook his head, "I want his tortured to the point he can't move, I want him suffering!" Cole punched another tree and it left a dent.

"So what did he do?" Willow asked a little quieter and Cole just narrowed his eyes at her.

"You're better of not knowing" he promised, "look there's a large tree that we can spend the day at, we'll be moving first thing" Cole sat down and hissed lightly.

"Alright" Willow felt her ear twitch and she just sat next to him, curled into a ball. After a while of Cole hissing to himself he pushed her into a cuddle and she heard how fast his heart was going, then his breathing went funny and Willow recognised it as a panic attack. "Cole!" Willow scrambled around and hugged him close, she knows how horrible a panic attack is. He nuzzled in close with tears socking the fur on her collar bone, his arms trembled as he tried wrapping them around her. "Easy, Cole it's ok, everything will be ok" Willow promised, moving his body away from the rising sun. He struggled with his breathing for too long that is considered normal, and Willow started to remember back to her psychology classes and what you're supposed to do when someone is having a panic attack. But she couldn't remember, it was too long back.

'Cole I'm sorry' she hugged him tighter and his breathing steadied a little, his heart was still racing but the panic attack was leaving. Cole eventually broke out of it but he still didn't seem right, "Cole" Willow spoke very softly.

"Your voice is too soft and innocent for a vampire" Cole spoke weakly and clearly exhausted but he sat himself up and looked spacesly out to the filed. Warmly lot by the sun. "Mention this to anyone and I'll have your head" he threatened but his voice weakened.

"I won't" Willow promised, "this is not something the gossip about" Willow flicked her tail and curled back into a ball.

"Let's just get to sleep" Cole sighed and he put them in a cuddle, she didn't feel all that comfortable as it felt wrong.

"Do we have to cuddle?" Willow asked showing her discomfort.

"Yes" Cole basically snapped and Willow stayed quiet the rest of the day as the slept.
