Chapter 40 - Chapter 39

Percy came back to the hospital room where he sat in his bed with Luna angrily yelling at him. Grace attempted to calm Luna with words but it was not working.

Percys repressed emotions and thoughts started to make him go insane. He got more and more nervous until he couldn't take it. He broke down. He ripped the sheets off of his body and his body broke out in pain.

Pulling the tubes out of his arms he stood up. Fortunately he had on some sort of hospital shorts and wasn't naked. Clothes sat next to his bed on a table because Jason thought Percy wouldn't want to be in bed for long so he prepared clothes for him and his Pokédex.

Percy grabbed his clothes and Pokédex and limped out of the room. Luna smirked at seeing his reaction but soon became horrified. Percys body was covered in gashes and holes were drilled into his body. The spider Pokémon had started injuring him even after he had passed out.

Dry blood covered his body and most of the gashes still bled a little. Percys bandaged chest was almost entirely red and his head became light at just standing. Grace hurriedly stood to try and stop Percy from leaving.

He wasn't supposed to be walking but he still was able to. Percy walked with straight legs and gently moved Grace out of his way. While Percy was deathly injured he was several times stronger than Grace. He gently picked her up and set her down outside of his way. Grace stood there and tried to calm Percy down.

He was not listening and stormed out of the room. Making his way through the halls he banged into stray equipment that was unlucky enough to be in his way. Grace chased after him but Percy was surprisingly fast for a injured person. Grace is pretty slow so Percy easily out sped her.

He jumped down stair cases and sped past nurses and doctors. None of then tried to stop the speeding and muscular boy. Grace still chased but when she realized she couldn't catch him she went back to the room and called Ash.

Luna looked confused as to what the big deal was. "What?! Percy left the Pokémon Center. Why?" Ash yelped. Grace explained what had happened and Ash was furious.

He cursed under his breath and shouted to Jasper, Jason, and Ishigami who were training together. "He's not supposed to even stand up for another day. You said he's running. Shit. Just keep an eye on him and we'll rush right over." Ash explained the situation to the boys with him and sprinted toward the city.

They were training out of the city trying to get stronger while fighting wild Pokémon. Grace looked out of a window to see Percy sprinting through the street in just his hospital shorts and bloody bandages on his back. Nobody wanted to stop a bloody and half naked man.

Fortunately there were no cops and he could go free without being arrested for indecent exposure. His body burned in pain but he pushed through. He just wanted to be alone for a little bit. After a couple of minutes of stiff legged running he found a empty alley and slid the trainer clothes over his body.

He fell to the floor with his face in his hands. His Pokédex vibrated non stop in his pocket. After a couple of minutes he arranged his thoughts and emotions. Suppressing his emotions caused him to eventually break down.

His resentment for his father has reached an all time high and his inability to handle his emotions is breaking him. Not once had he experienced the complications of the real world. Suddenly he stood up again and ran toward the outside of the city. He reached the plains that surrounded the city.

He moved a bit farther away from the city to avoid trainers and other people. He released all of his Pokémon and dropped to the ground breathing heavily. Sweat covered his brow and his whole body ached. Some of his wounds reopened but he couldn't care less. "Can you get some berries for me?" He quietly asked his Pokémon.

They were very concerned about his health so Crash stayed to protect him while Fúria and Pharaoh searched for berries. Percys eyes began to become heavy and he fell asleep on the hard ground.

Meanwhile Ash, Jasper, Jason and Ishigami had looked for Percy but couldn't find him anywhere. Grace had lost track of him seeing as how she isn't the most athletic person ever. They met back at the hospital room all with heavy expressions.

All of them sat on chairs around Luna. "Dammit. He shouldn't even be awake but he's fast enough to escape. What the hell is the security in this place." Jasper cursed.

Luna didn't understand why everybody cared so much about him. "It's not a big deal." She stated. All of them slowly looked at her in a very complicated manner. Grace had told them they 'argued' but nothing else. "What did you tell him." Jason whispered.

His eyes shooting lasers at her. Luna got a very odd feeling but didn't think Jason was being hostile. She's wrong. "He asked me if I was okay so I-". Luna started.

Grace interrupted her suddenly. "They just had a little fight that's all. Nothing more." From the looks all of the boys were giving off it was not a good idea to tell them what had happened.

Lunas face became puzzled. "He didn't even fight back. I just can't fucking stand him. How does he have the guts to ask me if I'm okay after what I've gone through." Jason stood up suddenly but was held back by Jasper. A vein bulged in his forehead but he slowly sat back down.

Ash put his head into his hands. "Well." Ash stood up. "Sitting around won't find him. It's possible that he will bleed out if we can't find him. So let's call the rest of the Prodigies and I'll tell the head nurse." Ash tried to desperately make sure that Luna didn't say anything.

Jason didn't seem stable and neither did Jasper. Jasper only held Jason back in duty but couldn't be more frustrated. Grace was a little afraid for her sister but also couldn't believe her actions. The boys left the room and Ash called the rest of the Prodigies.

He told them that Percy had gone missing and they needed to find him. He knew better than to tell them why cause it would cause a very large distaste in between the group.

Jasper and Jason filed a missing person report to the police station and actually put out a request for trainers to look for Percy with a large reward. Kai, Zoe and Aurora were training in the wild and got the call from Ash. "What are we going to do?" Aurora asked.

In order to avoid making Kai angry she didn't want to leave him. Kai snorted. Auroras face dropped. "Well of course we're going to look for the idiot. Let's go." The rest of the Prodigies (except Baxter) arrived at the hospital room to discuss their plans. "Alright everybody. I'm afraid that Percy will bleed out if we can't find him so let's be fast and efficient." Ash spoke.

He assigned everybody where to look and how to do it. Marcus, Grace, Kushida and Aurora were supposed to go through the whole city while everybody else looks in the wilds. They are going to search alone as to cover as much ground as possible.

They were confident in their own strength to stay safe alone so they didn't need to travel in groups. They broke off and searched their own areas while keeping in contact.

Percy woke up to his face being prodded by a rubbery and slightly furry body. His eyes slowly opened and he saw the sun setting. Rolling over he made eye contact with a big eye.

A Caterpie looked curiously at the boy and prodded his face again. Percy slowly sat up to see several members of the Caterpie line surrounding him. Butterfree and Metapod also surrounded him and his heart started to beat faster. Pharaoh appeared from in between two Butterfree and barked happily.

He pushed a bunch of berries to Percy and nudged his hand. Percy looked at the Pokémon around him and they have a friendly energy. Picking up a berry he bit into it and flavorful juice flowed into his mouth. He devoured all of the berries in front of him.

He looked for the strongest Butterfree in the group to thank it for its food. A Butterfree that was a little larger than the rest stood in the back. Percy lowered his head to the ground, which caused him a lot of pain, and thanked the Butterfree for sharing its food with him.

Pharaoh, Fúria and Crash sat next to Percy and expressed their gratitude as well. Pharaoh explained to Percy how he had come across the Pokémon and became friends. Percy couldn't understand him but he got the general gist of it. Pharaoh and Fúria had stumbled upon a single Butterfree being attacked by a group of Rattata.

They retaliated against the Rattata and saved the Butterfree. The Butterfree thanked them and asked if it could help them in some way. Pharaoh asked for berries for his trainer and the Butterfree led it back to its large nest where there were berries piled up.

Pharaoh and Fúria met a Butterfree colony and quickly met the leader of it. It was a rather small colony but a colony nonetheless. The Butterfree that Pharaoh had saved was a child of the leader and she appreciated Pharaoh saving her child.

So she allowed Pharaoh to take some of its members and food and go get his trainer. They even said it was okay if Percy came to the nest. So Percy stood up and thanked the Butterfree once again for helping him. The Pokémon chattered and flew around excitedly. Percy was fortunate that Pharaoh had found a friendly Pokémon rather than something like Ekans.

He slowly stood up and was guided to a cluster of 30ish trees where he was shown a nest made out of soft leaves and grass. He lay in the nest and fell asleep quickly with his stomach full of berry juice.

Percy woke up two days later. His throat was extremely dry and his stomach yearned for nutrition. Compared to two days before his body felt a lot better.

Most of his wounds closed up and dry blood no longer caked his back. 'Why are my wounds so healed?' He questioned. It was midday and the sun shone brightly where he lay. The nest crunched and moved as he turned around. None of his Pokémon could be found around him.

He could only see a Caterpie nibbling on the side of his nest. The Caterpie noticed Percy wake up and quickly scurried off. It returned a second later with a Butterfree who seemed happy at Percys awakening. It came over and hugged him and glowed green.

A warmth overcame Percy and he sighed in relief. Percys wounds closed just a little more. "So it's been you." He whispered. He lightly pet the Butterfrees head. The Butterfree chittered some Pokémon talk that Percy understood as 'I'm gonna get your friends.' Percy scanned the Butterfree. Surprisingly it was level 30 and knew the move Pollen Puff.

It's potential was Light Orange. It flew off and returned 10 minutes later with Fúria, Pharaoh, and Crash. They leaped onto Percy and nuzzled him in his face. In just a few seconds Percys face was covered in slobber. He spluttered and pushed his Pokémon off of him. "Bleh, so what's up with you guys." He asked. Pharaoh explained what had happened.

Percy could interpret what he was saying well enough. 'To repay the Butterfree we did some tasks for them. Stuff like patrolling the territory and gathering berries.' Percys face became confused. "Did I hear you right? You patrolled territory." Pharaoh nodded.

Then Pharaoh proceeded to explain to Percy all of the activities of wild Pokémon. In the wild Pokémon world there's a lot of ways it can take shape. In some cases, Pokémon can form into groups. This is exactly what happened to the Butterfree Percy was staying with.

That also happened to the Fearow and Spinarak. There are many reason why Pokémon form into groups. Wanting to unite against a bigger enemy, wanting to establish a control over an area, having a consistent food source (ie controlling an area for the berries, trees or water source).

There's other reasons that can cause a group of Pokémon can form but those are the main ones. In the Ariados case they formed to control a large area. Percy actually had some suspicions that the cave they settled in actually leads to Viridian Forest. Finding an Elite level Pokémon in Route 1 is something that is very rare and doesn't happen much.

Percy thought that at least 5 elite level Pokémon were in the colony which was weird seeing as Route 1 is for starting trainers. Think of the wild Pokémon scene as a giant territory war. Groups of Pokémon can form and fight over and over again for territory.

Sometimes there's no controlling power of a region because no groups have formed. If a group of Pokémon doesn't have a leader it can become fractured and not survive. There will be a lot of infighting and the group will eventually break apart. In areas where there is no big colony controlling it most Pokémon will just fight in small groups or alone.

For example the large tree Percy had found was a territory controlled by no one. So all of the Pokémon fought for themselves to eat and survive. All Pokémon control their territory differently. Some absolutely do not allow anything to enter its territory.

Most Ursaring and aggressive Pokémon are like this. Others allow something to pass through as long as they only pass through. This groups of Butterfree allow Pokémon and people to be in its territory. As long as no one makes any problems they can even eat from the area. But if something does attack others than they'll be chased out by the Butterfree.

Most Pokémon that aren't incredibly territorial won't attack trainers as that can be a good way to get wiped out. Maybe the trainer hires 30 other trainers to come and wipe them out. Than Pharaoh explained the other Pokémon colony's that controlled area next to the Butterfree.

The Butterfree colony is a relatively small colony with only 140ish members. And only 40 of them were Butterfree which meant that about 100 Pokémon were relatively useless in battle. To the East of the colony there's a very large Rattata colony.

About 250 Pokémon are in the colony so it's of average size compared to the whole world. It's a very large colony for Route 1 since most of the time Pokemon aren't able to gather too much because of the high trainer density. Apparently the relationship between the two colony's is very rocky and their members keep attacking each other.

The Rattata are led by a particularly aggressive Raticate and tend to steal food from other territories. Butterfree don't mind Pokémon eating food from its territory but the Rattata had attacked and killed Caterpie and Metapod. Ever since the Butterfree have been adamant against all Rattata and Raticate.

To the south a group of Sentret control all the food. Unlike the Butterfree, the Sentret and Furret don't allow any other Pokémon to eat from their territory. But they do let Pokémon travel through. They have about 100 total Pokémon in their colony. Also the total area they control is much less than both of the other colonies.

The relationship between the Sentret and Rattata is pretty poor because of the Rattata stealing but the relationship with theit Butterfree is much better. They have what you could call a 'Pokémon alliance'. An agreement that they would help each other if the need arose. Two Furret are leading the colony.

To the northeast of the Butterfree colony there is a Pidgey group. The Pidgey group shares a border with both Butterfree and Rattata. Compared to the other colonies it is even smaller than the Sentrets. It only had 70 members and not even 10 are evolved to Pidgeotto.

Since the Pidgey are more predatory they are enemies with both of them. The Pidgey try to avoid hunting the Rattata and Butterfree but sometimes they do. The Pidgey dominantly attack the Butterfree though because of the trees that they have. So the Butterfree are fighting a losing war.

Since the Pidgey have a type advantage against the Butterfree they really struggle against them. The area to the west is empty of any big group so there's plenty space. Percy wondered why the Butterfree didn't just move away. Apparently the Butterfree struggle to live without having trees to raise their children so they have to defend against anybody taking it.

The Pidgey would have a much easier time keeping their eggs safe if they could settle in trees. The reason that their colony was so small was that random Pokémon stole their eggs because of their poor ability to keep it safe.

Pokémon like Rattata or Sentret have made burrows and holes to protect the eggs but Pidgey couldn't do the same thing. Normally Pidgey stay in the trees anyway so Percy did not know how they ended up in the middle of the plains. Percy nodded as he digested all of the information. He was pretty confident in his Pokémon language conversion. Suddenly a large Butterfree appeared in front of Percy.

Percy bowed his head and the Butterfree said some words to Percy. Percy turned on his aura feeling sense so he could get a better understanding of the Butterfree. He could easily understand his Pokémon but not wild Pokémon who he doesn't know.

It said something along the lines of 'It is very nice to meet you trainer. I am grateful for your Pokémon's contribution to our colony. I was hoping that I could ask you for one more favor.'
