Chereads / Percy's Pokemon Adventure / Chapter 44 - Chapter 43

Chapter 44 - Chapter 43

Percy followed behind the butler into the very large mansion. His eyes wandered from the expensive looking chandeliers to the equally expensive looking couches.

Servants and people milled around the halls and rooms paying seemingly no attention to Percy. Soon enough Percy was guided to Xaviers office by the butler.

The butler knocked on a door, "What is it?" A voice asked demandingly. "The trainer is here sir." The butler responded politely. "Come in." The butler opened the door and gestured to Percy to go inside.

Percy walked through the door into a simple yet very expensive office. There wasn't anything extra, no pictures, no vases, no unnecessary paintings. But the stuff that was in the room was very expensive and each costed at least 10,000 pokedollars.

The wood the desk was made out of looked to be from a Exeggutor. The chairs and lights were clearly made from other Pokémon.

Even the tile was made from ivory that gave off a particular sheen. He sat down in a chair on the other side of the desk from Xavier. The middle aged man watched Percy in silence for a few seconds. He breathed out heavily, "Let us start this with me saying I am sorry.

I am sorry for my accomplices behavior and I am sorry that I didn't immediately stop them. I hope you can find it in you to forgive me." Percy noticed how the man didn't ask if he could forgive them, just him.

Percy grunted slightly and leaned on his elbow. Xavier took the gesture as a sign to continue. "I have gotten Heuning to call you over here because I have a proposition. When you showed me some of your strength before I immediately noticed that you were very talented.

And when I researched your background I found that you had no professional training or guidance. I shouldn't be telling you this but the clan is seriously weak when it comes to individual talent.

Our main branch has good genetics but the people are the laziest most entitled people I have ever had to meet. Everybody in the main family except for the clan head is lazy and a waste.

It's a shame that they have great genetics and could be so much more than what they are. The Clan Head is thinking about switching the main family branch duties to a more active and kind family.

So I seriously apologize for their behavior." Xavier took a deep breath and looked Percy in his eyes. Percy looked back with minimal interest, his eyes wandering the room.

He honestly only came to make it seem like he didn't hold a grudge against them. He did. He thought that they would want him to sign a contract or something and he just wasn't interested in it.

Xavier knew that Percy wouldn't want to do anything with him but he decided to make a compromise. "So Percy, I'm requesting a collaboration between us. A peer to peer relationship.

No contract or anything official just you helping us and we can help you. So first, before we get any farther, are you willing to discuss." Percy yawned. "Sure man. But what are you able to offer to me." Percy asked.

Xavier thought for a second, "We can offer you anything that has to do with money. As long as it's money we can get it done." Xavier said confidently.

Percy nodded. "Before we talk about anything I need some things first. I need evolution materials for a Mankey, Ekans, and Croconaw. If you can promise me this first I am willing to do whatever you want.

As long as there is no contract and I'm not forced to do something I don't want to do." Percy shrugged. He had been dreading having to gather the money to get some solid potential increasing items but now he didn't have to.

Xavier nodded while making notes on a paper. He picked up a phone next to him and called someone. "Get potential increasing items for Mankey, Ekans and Croconaw. Don't worry about the price." He hung up and turned back to Percy. "I will get those things to you as soon as possible.

Now follow me and we'll meet with the Clan Head as what we will discuss includes him." Xavier led Percy out of the office and into a different office that seemed to be more Royal. Cases of severed Pokémon heads lined the walls.

A large golden glaive was held above a golden wood desk. "Xavier." A voice boomed throughout the office. "We are here to discuss the terms." Xavier calmly replied. The chair behind the desk swung around and Percy saw the face of the Clan Head.

His face had the same hawkish features as his grandchildren and his eyes seriously stared at Percy. He seemed to be about 50 years old but Percys senses thought him to be about 70.

His long hair and short beard were a dark gray. He was dressed in a golden robe that had interesting designs on it. The mans intensity made Percys feet shuffle and he tried to avoid eye contact. "So you are Percy. Look at me boy."

The man ordered. Percys eyes finally looked into the old mans eyes. After staring at each other for a minute the man sat back satisfied. "I don't want to ask for help from a virgin boy but it must be done." The man whispered to himself.

Both Xavier and Percy heard him. A dagger pierced Percys heart and he stumbled back. "Xavier you may explain what we need him for." The clan head waved his hand.

Xavier nodded respectfully and turned to Percy. "As I told you, the main branch doesn't have many people that are trying to become strong or good at anything. So the entirety of the clan barely has any talented individuals.

Most of our private military and active trainers are completely average with no person above average. Except for one." The Clan Head sighed before talking, "When I first had my children I left to go fight in the war against Kalos.

So my children were left to the care of the clan and their mother. And to be honest, their mother was extremely spoiled as she was my scheduled wife from a different clan.

Since she was spoiled and lazy most of her characteristics rubbed off on our children. By the time I had come back from the war all of my children had become bratty spoiled idiots. First thing they did when they saw me was throw stacks of cash at me cause they thought I was a beggar.

You come back from a 5 year war where you received many rewards for your contributions and your children think you're homeless, what else can I do.

Anyway then my children had children and they turned out the same. Except for one of the grandchildren that I managed to take under my wing before she was heavily influenced by her parents.

I've been guiding her and she has become a normal person who can lead and thirst for strength. She's the pride and joy of my life and I easily love her more than my actual children. I've been cultivating her into the next clan head for years now and I feel like she's reached a plateau.

The funny thing is that most of my children think they will be the next head. Fucking idiots." The old man pinched the bridge of his nose in stress before continuing. "So my granddaughter Fay is training and learning a lot to take my position.

You actually might have seen her on your way here. As I said she's plateaued in strength as a person and I'm concerned keeping her in this perfect environment will be detrimental.

When I was a child my parents kicked me out of the clan with absolutely nothing but one Pokémon to my name. They told me to come back when I had something to my name. I worked hard to get where I am and it carved me into who I am.

I have thought long and hard about this and decided that I am going to make her leave and go on her own journey. Before I thought to hire a bodyguard to protect her but decided against it. I found a group of kids my age back then so why can't she do the same.

I want her to experience the normal life of a trainer and grow and develop by herself. I guess I'm still hiring someone, but at least you are the same age. And also the most talented young people in the clan will become her personal guard in the future so they need to be trained in the real world.

It would be best if they grew up together in the real world where they can build bonds. This isn't something that can be fabricated." The Clan Head leaned forward really stressing his point. "I love my grandchild but she needs to grow up normally and experience life and death.

This is why I need to hire you Percy. To make sure she stays safe and start to guide her on her journey to greatness. I am entrusting you with the life of the person most important to me." The hairs on Percys neck stood up as he felt an odd energy coming from the glaive on the wall.

He didn't come here to be threatened by a war general or have the responsibility of someone else's life. He wasn't ready for whatever he was being committed to right now. "So let me simplify things for you Percy."

Xavier said. "You will accompany Fay and her 'Personal Guard'. The personal guard will be other trainers that are the most talented in the clan. We've been picking the most talented trainers in the clan that will grow up to be her trusted confidants.

She's going to need them in the future and being able to build relationships with her advisors is important. They will leave and you will follow and pretend to be a new trainer in the Honey Clan. None of them should know who you are at least not for a little bit.

All you need to do is accompany them for the first month of their journey and get them started. Their lack of experience makes it difficult to know how they will handle the world they will be thrust into. After that you don't have to stay with them anymore and your job will be over.

Just make sure she doesn't die from being thrust into the wild with no experience and guide her." Xavier explained to Percy. Percys face was extremely confused. "Uh okay. I kind of scheduled some things though." He said dully hoping to get out of what they were asking him to do.

Although he could just say no he didn't want to do it to the old mans face. He didn't understand why he was the best choice for this. "And also why would you pick me?" Percy asked.

Xavier nodded, "Heuning told us that you were the best and most talented in the Prodigies. She said something about watching you with her Pokémon and seeing you save several of your friends." 'Damn her.'

Percy thought to himself. "And when did you schedule something, maybe we can work around it." "I was supposed to go help the newly established town that was close. And I'm going to an event with a friend in 3 and a half weeks. Although that will only take up one night."

Percy explained. Xaviers face dropped at the words. "You are going to help that town. Okay." His tone clearly conveyed displeasure. "It will take me a week to finish up with it." Percy reasoned.

"Alright then, we will delay the departure and if you are still alive then contact us and we'll start you off. And that event you are going to isn't a big deal. We will hire someone to teleport you. Where are you going?" "Viridian City."

"Oh okay no big deal than. So are you willing to do this Percy. I promise that you will be rewarded handsomely. If there is something you want now then please ask." Percy shrugged,

"I believe that I am going to need some economic relief in the future for a big project. That's all I need I guess." "Okay than. In one week be right here and be ready to go on a month long journey. Be strong enough so that I don't need to worry about my grand baby." The old man said.

Percy nodded and started to slowly back out of the office. Xavier put a hand on Percys shoulder and said, "When are you leaving to the town." "Tomorrow." "We will prepare a room for you to sleep in. Let me take you there."

Percy shrugged and followed Xavier out of the office. The second he stepped out of the office something came whizzing towards Percys head. He ducked quickly and sent a vicious kick to where it came from. Surprisingly he made contact and the thing he kicked got pushed back a few steps.

He looked up to see the girl he had seen earlier training with the Vespiquen crossing her arms blocking his kick. On the ground next to him lay a metal ball that was just thrown at his head.

"What the hell are you doing?!?" Xavier demanded. Percy jumped back creating distance between them. "So this skinny fool is the person grandfather had meet with him. Just some random in the clan." She snorted.

The door to the office behind Percy burst open as the old man came charging out. "What the hell is all the commotion." He heaved. After seeing his granddaughter his eyes softened. "Fay attacked Percy the second we left." Xavier exclaimed. His balding head sweating.

The girl ran up to her grandfather and she put her head in his chest. "Why did you call this scrawny boy to your office with Xavier. Am I not good enough." She made puppy eyes.

The Clan Head smiled warmly and rubbed the girls head. "No baby. Nobody will be better than you. I just had to talk to him about joining the Personal Guard I told you about." "What?!? Even a scrawny boy like this will be part of that? I don't trust his strength at all." She complained.

When Percy had a loose shirt on and lose shorts he did look a little scrawny, but not to the degree this girl won't stop pushing. If anything he was one of the most fit and muscular 16 year olds out there.

The insults that she threw at him weren't able to hurt him in anyway as he knew that he wasn't scrawny. "That kick he did barely had any strength behind it." A vein bulged on Percys forehead but he remained silent.

It's true that it wasn't the strongest kick he had ever done but it was a blatant lie to call it weak. "So what. Do you want him to prove his strength or something?" Xavier questioned. The girl nodded happily. "Yeah! How about this, if I can beat him in a fight then will you taken him out of the Personal Guard."

She asked. "Of course Fay. If he loses then I'll take him out. And if he wins I'll pay him 10 million." The Clan Head answered dreamily. He continually rubbed her head and she smiled devilishly at Percy. The look contrasted harshly with her beautiful face. "Sir! Remember what we agreed to."

Xavier said. "Oh whatever. If he can't even beat her than what use is he." Percy blinked dumbly. "I do not want to fight this little girl." He said dully. He wasn't in the mood to fight against Fay in front of her grandfather as he didn't trust himself to keep her safety in mind.

Not only had she pissed him off but he had some pent up stress he needed to release. He was planning on getting to the town and destroying every hostile Pokémon he ran into but he had been stopped here. His hands clenched and unclenched in anticipation.

Lately he had found himself looking forward to fights and that scared him. Being violent wasn't something he considered himself before but now he got excited whenever there was to be a battle. An intense feeling overcame him to destroy his opponent with maximum efficiency and brutality.

The battle he witnessed at the Honey Gym had unlocked something inside of him. A thirst, unquenchable and everlasting, resided in his heart. He wanted to be the strongest and wanted to never hold back.

To make constant progress and be stronger than those around him. His breathing became ragged and his vision tunneled. "You will see that Fay is no little girl. She is the same age as you and I've trained her into a strong warrior. Let us head to an open field to spar."

Percy was borderline dragged to a empty field where the only people watching were Xavier and the clan head. Percy stood on one side of a field while Fay stood on the other side. "This will be a weaponless spar.

No Pokémon and no killing or maiming of the enemy. The first person to make the other submit or knocks them unconscious wins. Begin in 3, 2, 1." The Clan head announced the rules of the spar and the fight began.
