As the saying, 'when lovers meet time flies fast' goes, many days passed with not much activities. Until work took Nicklaus out of the territory again.
Just like every other day on the Fur Mountain, the sun was high up in the sky blessing the place with bright radiance but it's warmth could still not permeate it. It was colder than usual.
The weather on Fur Mountain was always unpredictable. The previous day was summer full of bloom but after only one night, it was now welcoming winter.
Ophelia sat on a branch at the edge of the field, holding a disposable cup of Cappucinno in her hands. She would sip from it every now and then as she watched the werewolves training on different parts of the field. Beside her was the bubbly comical looking Chloe also observing her people. Her belly was so protruded that it made people wonder if she had more than two babies in there. The twins were no where in site, they must have gone to carry out their mischievous deeds.
"How long do you think this will last?", asked Ophelia curiously.
Smiling, Chloe replied, "the weather her is so bizarre that even we can't figure it out. They say only the moon readers can tell but for over 10000 years now there hasn't been a moon reader."
" Another mystery and an awkward name. Who gave them such a title?"
"You can't criticise my ancestors for such name giving."
Both woman laughed heartedly. Chloe looked at Ophelia intendently and asked
"Bunny, what's on your mind now"
"Nothing. Why do you ask?", asked Ophelia puzzled.
"You...", before Chloe could finish her statement, a commotion erupted.
Some werewolves were running towards the mountain. The one at the front was shouting incoherently and more people were joining the crowd headed towards Fur mountain. The woman stood up with deep frowns. Chloe's frown grew deeper which made Ophelia more worried. She had heard that their were usually big fights between different packs and it could be dangerous, but why does this look different?
"What's the matter?", Ophelia asked the woman beside her.
"I don't know yet but I smell fear. Deep fear from the people. Their are not many things that make us afraid and only one makes us this Afraid."
The werewolf shouting was already close enough, although he was still quite far, Chloe like every other werewolf had very good hearing.
"Cerberus! Ophelia run!", Chloe exclaimed.
"Wait, what?", asked the confused Ophelia.
Seeing her not responding, Chloe carried her and ran. Werewolves had superstrength and great speed so it was easy for Chloe to carry Ophelia.
Chloe was the first to reach the mountain with Ophelia in her arms. Spoon after, the others came, some in groups and others separately.
An alarm bliared on the mountain. The whole of the mountain was shrouded in a red cotton. The gates automatically closed down and every other werewolf was performing one task after another. Feared lingered in the air.
Ophelia sat on a couch in the Foyer, tensed as well. She had read enough to know that the werewolf kind feared nothing; neither the humans nor the nightwalkers, yet right now they were all running about completing tasks to set up more security measures. This made her both confused and tensed. 'It would be so good if Nicklaus was here', she thought not realising that she might not have thought this way months ago. The man was invading her mind more and more.
"Nicklaus Lynn, where the hell are you right now?!" shouted Chloe on the phone, jolting Ophelia out of her thoughts. She looked up to see Chloe seated on the chair with a phone by her left ear. She looked more angry than afraid.
"The hell! we are been invaded or more precisely attacked by our deadliest enemy!"
Ophelia couldn't hear what the person on the phone said but she laughed wickedly and screamed:
"Get here now or there will be no more Fur Mountain!". She flung the phone on the take which shattered both the table and the phone. She was truly vexed.
Ophelia moved closer to the pissed Chloe. She soothed her on her back and stayed beside her quietly. She was a woman of few words to begin with and she didn't know any comforting words. She also didn't want to worry her the more by asking questions. This was not the time for it.
Chloe thought for a while and then began to issue order after order, again and the werewolves went about setting up different kinds of protective and counter-attack measures.
"What can I do", asked Ophelia, she really should be able to do something or can't she?
"When the attacker comes you will go to the cellar with the boys. They are the only children here.
"Do you think all these will not be enough to protect us? Is it that bad?", Ophelia was even more worried that before. She didn't know what to do or how she could help. She had no strength to speak of at all.
"It's not that bad, okay", replied Chloe calmly. The older woman looked exhausted but there was no other to relief her of her duties. She could only seat on the chair and command her people, preparing them for a battle.
Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum..... came the sound of footsteps. It was loud and heavy, resounding in everyone's ears. Ophelia was trembling on the seat next to Chloe's. Leaving a sheltered life in Alkal, she had never experienced such horrific moment before. From the time on the field till now, only half an hour had passed but it felt like a very long time. She looked around and saw the werewolves. They had all changed to their burly form, Standing guard with their ammunitions ready for a battle.
The ground trembled as the footsteps drew nearer. The light from the red shield glowed brighter, symbolising the effects of the shakes and the danger that it would bring. The Werewolves stood more alert. Ophelia's heart thudded against her chest, she was terrified. She was shaking like a leaf and so was the chair in which she was seating. The more she tried to control herself, the more she shivered. Frustrated, Chloe took her by the hand and led her to the cellar along with her twins.
A long while after entering the cellar, they had a knock. The three of them looked at each other frightened.
"Aunt Ophelia, it should be mother", whispered Linnaeus. He was the calmest of them all.
Ophelia found a long, heavy plank. With much difficulty, she carried it and headed for the door. She took careful steps on the small staircase. When she opened the door, she saw Chloe covered in blood being brought in by two werewolves, she had fainted. Up above, she could here the sound of guns and blasts of small bombs, accompanied by nasty words from the werewolves. The plank fell, rolled down the staircase and landed heavily on the floor. The shelves rattled. Looking at the place Chloe she was horrified. She quickly ran down the stairs giving room for the werewolves to bring Chloe down.
On the floor, one of the werewolves applied treatment for Chloe, turns out she was a doctor.
"What happened", asked a terrified Ophelia. The twins were also by their mother's side.
"We were tricked into believing that it was an invasion by one of the most dangerous creatures from hell, Cerberus, so we made preparations for that turns out it was an attack fro. another group of alphas, Ncikluas's half brother, Gandoph. He attacked 12Jago immediately to distract him and one of his subordinates charged at Chloe. They took us by suprise but we have the situation in control. Everything will be fine.", said the other werewolf. Ophelia looked at him in gratitude and relief. She had seen him before.
"Thank you Kyan", replied Ophelia softly. Turns out it was Kyan, the one who defended Ophelia in the car that day.
