"it's you?", he knew this face. Not only that, he also recognised the voice. This was the same master illusionist that he had encountered in the River Aurora when they went to get their love tokens. In her illusion he had seen many things, including the end of his era. That tragic incident had still been a sore in his heart even though he had been told that it was just an illusion. When he found out that Ophelia was almost not able to extricate herself from her illusion he was even more pissed. Although the reason for that was because Galia had added something to the water, he still blamed this illusionist for what had happened and now the d*mned woman was here again.
"What do you want?", asked Nicklaus angrily.
"We are one with the power, she and I. I want her to embrace her identity. You know very well that her gifts are beyond ordinary. If you had coupulated with her gifts active, you could be ruling the world right now." said the being.
"it's her choice. She owns her gift and can choose how to use it", Nicklaus responded calmly.
"Some people do know what they want but cannot bear to be bold", said the being as she walked closer to Nicklaus, the light hurting him the more. She continued, "I know you love her. I know you want her powers too. She's the greatest woman there will be in the world, you want that very much".
"You are too greedy. All I want is for my Ophelia to be the happiest. My power is enough to take down my enemies", yelled Nicklaus angrily. He was in so much agony. All over his skin were blisters that kept growing as the light penetrated him wanting to nullify his existence. Layers of ice grew on his body as he turned himself into an ice statue which protected his body from the penetrating light.
Ophelia, rather the being had an evil smirk on her face as she came closer to him.
"I want to to see how long you can resist before you disappear totally"
As she went closer, Nicklaus groaned in agony on his left chest, just an inch from his heart, a blinding light had penetrated him. The other alphas went closer to the light trying to share the burden with their king. The stood in very complicated positions around Ophelia. It looked unique and formed the shape of a Cresent moon. As they howled, ice the shape of a Cresent moon was formed encasing both Nicklaus and Ophelia. The ice slowly penetrated the light trying to freeze it.
And so a bizarre phenomenon was taking place on the field behind Fur mountain were light was freezing. Even though it was happening very slowly, everyone could see that the light around Ophelia was solidifying. Soon, the ice started to form around Ophelia but she just looked on calmly. She was not disturbed in the slightest as though the light did not exist.
"diaskorpiizo" muttered Ophelia or rather the being and the ice shattered. The shards flew at the speed of light piercing the alphas on different parts of their bodies. They groaned in pain but still retained their formation. They were not the only ones, An ice shards had pierced Ophelia right in her belly. The light around her disappeared as quickly as it had come leaving only it's sting behind. The badly wounded Nicklaus caught the falling Ophelia in his arms, then he disappeared from his spot.
By the time the others were able to open their eyes, everyone else was gone. Only the blood stains on the bright green grass was there. They had not imagined it. It did happen...
Nicklaus carried Ophelia straight to his room. He put her on his bed. He went to the wall and pressed a button. The sound of telephone dialing filled the room and shortly after a sweet voice filled the speaker.
"Medi001, Klaus is eve..."
"Kath, she going to die. Come this minute!"
"who's..."
du du du du du...
Katherine got up hastenly from her desk knocking the pen case off the table. She didn't look at it at all as she rushed out of the clinic. In few seconds she was already at Nicklaus's door. Even before she could knock, he had opened the door. She went straight to the bed to check Ophelia's pulse. A minute later, Katherine shook her head and checked again. By the fifth time she had a bewildered look on her face. Without wasting time, she unbuttoned Ophelia's shirt to clean up the wound that dyed her clothes bright red. As she did, she became much more bewildered. A thought crossed her mind and she turned to Nicklaus.
Seeing Katherine turning he quickly asked about his wife. "How's she?"
Katherine could feel Nicklaus's anxiety. Unlike in the human world where one could study how to be a medical practitioner, in the werewolf kingdom being a doctor was an innate talent. That is, they were born doctors not made doctors. Werewolf doctors could feel their patients emotions more deeply than others. In this might, they were just like the nightwalkers.
"Nick, can I asked a question?", asked Katherine, a slight blush had crept behind her ears. She was still a virgin and werewolves were very conservative species.
"Go ahead". Fortunately, Nicklaus was too cold to feel the subtle change on her face or maybe he couldn't care less right now.
"Have you.. have you.. you know... done the deed", asked Katherine.
"What deed?". Nicklaus looked confused.
"You know... that kind of stuff"
"Enough!", growled Nicklaus. This woman was testing his patience again. She was still the same after do many years. If she hadn't been a female, he would not have bothered with her.
"Speak plainly", he tried to restrain himself from tossing the woman out the window for talking gabbish.
"Have you guys done the man to woman thing?", Katherine finally tell it out. Nicklaus was stunned. They hadn't done such a thing. He had been acting restrained when her delectable body paraded itself around him. He needed to be patient.
When the time was right, he would slowly savour her delicacies. He would... Oh no! his mind had gone astray again. 'Not right now Nick', he thought to himself.
"No!", he sounded rather vexed about it but Ophelia's health was what mattered.
"What has that got to do with her being injured?", he was pissed.
"She is not hurt. No, to put it clearly, she has recovered fully. She's not awake yet because she has consumed too much energy.
Bing assured that Ophelia was fine. He was relieved. Every other thing didn't matter. He kneeled by the bedside and gently stroked her face. He pulled the stray hair away from her face and realised that it was sticky with sweat.
"Bring me a wash bowl with water".
He put his hand under the bed and fumbled a little. With a click, a cabinet was open. Nicklaus took a clean yellow towel out from it and out it in the wah bowl with water that Katherine had brought. He then wipe Ophelia clean with the cloth from head to toe. When he wanted to clean her body that was under the cloth. He glared unhappily at the woman standing not too far away from him.
'What have I done now', the woman wondered.
"Do yo want to see my woman?", asked Nicklaus.
Looking at her disgruntled king, Katherine once again confirmed to herself that normal logic could not be used to deal with him. Shouldn't he be the one excusing himself.
"I will take my leave then. If there's anything let me know", Katherine tactically excused herself. When she got to the door, she turned back to take a look again but quickly turned away as Nicklaus had still retained his glare.
"I'll send Dicks other"
"No need", replied Nicklaus without emotion.
"Kath, keep this a secret. Tell everyone that she's unwell and needs much rest", added Nicklaus.
Katherine stop for a few seconds before stepping out. As the door closed, Nicklaus too a deep breath and undressed Ophelia. Cleaning all the blood stains on her. When he was done, he dressed her in his dress shirt and covered her in a blanket.
