The headmistress smiled honestly.
As she had sensed Edriana's emotion was steady.
Hopefully, she would not have to help her stabilise it every time cause an uneasy liege was useless.
With a wave of her hand, a can of coloured parchment paper flew into Edriana's hand. The paper was completely blank but such documents only needed a little heat and light magic...
The words would magically appear.
Such paper was cheap something seemingly demeaning of the stature as the headmistress but who was she to judge.
"The contents" her tone questioning. She knew such behaviour was a bad idea but she said it.
" For the eyes of the reader, if you want to know then you can read it....." A small pause as the evil smirk on her face grew " Your eyes for each page and your tongue for safekeeping. "
Edriana's body tensed.
" Relax, I would never waste my time gouging out your eyes or removing your tongue. It shall slowly melt for each line you read and your tongue shall burn if you ever cry out. " A look of innocence that was rare appeared on her face she seemed honestly baffled by fear on Edriana.
The description though had no hold on the pure fear reeking from her bones. She hurriedly places the parchment in her ring to avoid any chance of reading it.
Hurriedly saying goodbye she scrambled off her chair and dashed into the hallway.
The headmistress's face grew harsh wiping off the innocent smile she had earlier. This was the headmistress they knew and some adored.
If this was the face Edriana saw she would not have panicked so much.
The pen twirled in her fingers never staying in a position for too long. In the same way, her thoughts around her mind were unable to pick a point.
Her gracious forehead was graced with sweat as her brows furrowed.
'Snap'... The pen in her hand fell on the paper, eggplant coloured ink with pink crystals dripped of her hand unto the river like spill the pen had left when it fell upon the paper.
The smell of crystalline ink filled the room. It made people shed tears at how much money was wasted. In regular noble homes, crystalline pens were not used unless for an important letter.
It showed strength and wealth even though to an extent was false. The pens were safely hidden in a rune box. Not randomly placed around.
Setting fire to the paper and pen it disintegrated into nothing, wiping her hands clean she picked up another crystalline from the drawer. Filled in the not so conspicuous locker were crystalline pens, counting it seemed the number had surpassed fifty.
Maybe if the nobles found out it would cause unrest on how much money she held but as the leader of the academy, the royal family had to bow too. Power and wealth were within expectations. The minds of humans were so easy to predict.
Though immensely jealous of her wealth or the Academy wealth.
Humans were covetous creatures that would of course support the Academy in hopes of receiving benefits.
The tip of the pen lightly touches the surface of the paper.
The words on the other appeared light yet immeasurable a feeling of strength hidden in beauty.
.....
A group of students all dressed in different coloured robes. Their eyes were glued to the teacher as he slowly explained how to cast each spell. There was a third-degree sector. It was a light spell major.
The glowing light from the male teacher's hand made it hard to remove their fixed eyes.
The light stretched and pulled following a pattern that they could not see but everyone understood what it was. He wielded our light magic connection.
The light eventually stopped, taking the form of an arrow. Drawing the bow by his side, he nocked the arrow.
Raising the bow he shot into the sky. The arrow flew right for the sky before exploding.
Bright light spread in the sky.
They were learning how to materialise their light magic. This class was for healers as they were left almost defenceless during the war.
Most students studied it as light magic was gentle, like a guide to all elements. The only downside was its attacking power was poor.
June's eyes dulled as soon as the light faded from the bright sky. Her thoughts were completely preoccupied with Aliza. She worried for the girl. It had been a week since she had seen her.
She had not attended her classes either it seemed like the girl Aliza was no longer in the school.
June had even searched the mission issue office but only a few missions had been done in those few days. A strange bitterness rose in her heart, it stemmed from the nonchalant attitude of Emma and Jake.
From the way, they spoke they almost could not wait for her to go far away. The pleasure on their face was practically dripping. If one was oblivious to the hidden battle. Emma's tone gave off a feeling of winning the lottery.
While she was distracted she paid no attention to her surrounding.
" Woah "
Awes from the cloud filled Junes ear.
Temporarily shaking off her emotion, she looked at the scene in front of her.
In the centre of the crowd was a blonde-haired girl standing in an erect stance, her small heart-shaped face reflected serenity and slight contempt. It was obvious in her arched brows and her lips that were drawn into a smirk.
In her arms was a Tiger crossbow. It looked like a bow and arrow attached. The bow assuming its usual form a slight arch and access is a special mechanism that helps fire the arrows.
Wrapped up in tiger skin, It was smooth. It was said that the mechanism used tiger bones and tendons and the bow was carved out of a Tiger's leg.
The tiger bow was special for if properly drawn one could hear the Tiger roar.
June's opinion of the myth was inactive. She had tried it but the tiger now was unsuitable for her.
Ashley was powerful and light magic was one of her greatest strengths. It was her most used magic.
She used it so much it almost felt like she was trying to convince herself of something.
A pity self-hypnosis blinded people.
Her hands-on bow was firm as she held the place where the cross was. Drawing the crossbow she aimed up in the sky. She infused her light magic in the mechanism taking an arrow shape.
Her arrow materialised and she fired. With a slight roar from the crossbow, her arrow flew heading straight into the sky. It was so fast it seemed to have made sense if it had pierced the sun.
It soon stopped and a bright white light flashed in the sky.
The picture was beautiful and spectacular.
Ashley was proud of herself seeing their dumbfounded faces.
Mr Jeffery shot out of his chair, it was a huge shock and he might have missed it if he had not paid attention. His feet waltzed towards Ashley.
His steps slowly became firmer and lighter as he approached the girl.
"Student, good shot " He addressed her.
Her head corked up as she stared at the teacher. He was dressing in a brown cloak which was gloomy, in his square-shaped face was his very distinguishable bushy headed and slanted eyes.
The curiosity in her eyes did not unnoticed.
His stern face did not hide the joy in his brimming eyes.
'What is going on.' was the question on their minds.
" Would you like to be my apprentice"
Stillness covered the students followed shortly by waves of discussion. Mr Jeffrey was a major light wielder, he served in the military as a General, he was one of the mages who gave strength to light mages.
It was an honour to serve under him and a miracle to be his apprentice as he never had any.
Here in front of them, all such miracle was taking place.
All kinds of eyes fell upon Ashley, gazes of envy, hated jealousy. Some of Curiosity, Suspicion, reverence. Humans being envious creatures such gazes were the highest.
Her eyes widened as her mouth fell with a gasp. This was not in her plan she had never imagined her showcase of talent would get her such high rewards from one of her revered heroes.
Mr Jeffrey waited for an answer but the pure shock and joy emotions at conflict expression made him patient after all it was him asking for an apprentice.
"Girl "
The voice instantly reminded Ashley of where she stood.
Her chest heaved as she took a deep breath. With a surprising low tone, she answered.
"....Yes, I love it "
" Good, your talent is ample and so is your spirit "... His head raised in pride as he admired her talent and her gait even more.
With a flick of his sleeves, a silver object fell into her palm, it was a plaque.
Such items were precious and everyone sorted for them from the powerful mages. Hoping to see it.
An item highly prized was exactly what fell into her palm.
" A sharp four-thirty and not a second late. ". His order and business sorted he walked away not settling with the rest of the students who came for the class.
Looking away from the lucky girl, June felt numb. it was inevitable that someone would get favoured and another won't. It was also found that some were better than others. Working hard in what she lived would also make her special.
As the word special came to mind her thought shifted off to Aliza. The girl had been absent yet no one had noticed. She supposed this was what Aliza had planned for that was why she gave her all the shares of her earnings to hold.
She walked away her feet not too heavy or light as she only had random thoughts.
Ashley floated as her feet barely touched the floor in excitement. She was so happy as those were just the first step before everything fell in place.
Feeling like a floating bee, buzzing sounds could be heard from her as she danced around.
Grey and purple bubbles floated I. the air. Her hair was wrapped in two ponytails. Emma sat on the bed in anger her hand swung punching the bed.
" That is not that hard enough " Jake jested as watched her vent out her anger on the soft bed.
"Yeah, so what am I to do. The headmistress as not summoned her. " ....
She grumbled. " You think I can stay calm. I am sure that selfish rat kept a lot of good stuff to herself. Since we can take away from the other snub at least we can run her off "
Her face showed intense greed, it gave chills to anyone who stared upon her.
" What can you do we both know only the headmistress can call upon her and she has become cruel to us. " Jake frowned; he was extremely disappointed in how selfish Aliza had become.
When they knew her she was clear of her responsibility and she took care of them. Soon they had everything they needed. No matter what she got they had a share in it even if they deserved none of it.
Strangely a phenomenon like that heavily frowned upon in the academy was supported against her by the headmistress.
It could be said she was their biggest backer but it was only when they snatched from Aliza.
Their hearts soared at the thought of not being able to get anything from Aliza.
"We both grew off these resources". Emma cried out.
Their hands were tied they could not disobey the headmistress.
Sadly in their rotten hearts, a small voice drowned by evil reminded them that she was once a friend.
It was unfortunate humans mind was so east to corrupt despite how pure it might start as.
" What do we do? " Jake asked.
"Let's try to coerce her on our formal relationship" Emma smiled the evil in her eyes was something only someone as greedy and evil as she could understand.
This was why Jake was in love with her.
Neither of them noticed there was a weird fog in their polluted eyes.
