(Jason's POV)
When our lord came back with injuries, I had to leave his presence for some time to calm myself down, I went out of the castle and punched some trees, destroying them while all the time reprimanding myself. How could I let him go? Even if I could not stop him from leaving, I should have made some kind of help for him, maybe given him some of those healing potions he had given us, maybe given him the newly made iron armor from the forge, anything! But I didn't.
After I had calmed myself down, I went back inside, only to be met with a powerful aroma of cooked meat. it surprised me for a moment, none of the monsters we had hunted had that powerful an aroma, so I went to see what it was.
Turns out, it was the meat of an 'Alpha' wolf, which was a whole lot more powerful than an ordinary wolf, and eating the meat surprisingly gave us all some extra stats to agility, and intelligence. Lord Verum explained that it was due to the fact that there was such a large level gap between us and the monster.
I had been training my magic more nowadays, to match up with lord Verum, and it was during one of these training sessions that it happened.
The past few days had been a bit hectic for me, since I had to balance my own training, while also training our troops. I have to say, I was quite surprised when I saw the castle suddenly upgrading out of nowhere, but then I thought of the lord's resourcefulness, and I suddenly didn't feel surprised any longer, but instead, started walking towards the middle, where lord Verum usually gives us our orders.
When I got there, I immediately noticed the new faces, and my guard went up, preparing to fight to the death if needed, but then I saw lord Verum waving as he informed me that those new faces were in fact, well, new faces for our numbers.
Then he handed over the training to me, and I momentarily lost my cool.
HAHA YES! LORD VERUM RECOGNIZES MY ABILITY!
Ahem, anyways, I accepted his order, and after I learned their names, and acquainted them with the people who were already there, I started to train them in the way that his lordship had trained us.
By beati-, I mean, by combat training, and it went quite well, at least according to the satisfied looks of lord Verum when he saw how they were moving, well, at first that was.
On the second day, when lord Verum came over to see how the training was going, he frowned, and then beckoned me to stop and come over to him, and my heart leapt to my throat.
I nervously made my way to him, and then he asked me when I was going to train their magic, and I promptly froze in my stupidity to not train them how it was required.
Then lord Verum, with his ever-kind voice, patiently spoke and told me that he wanted all of the troops, to be proficient in all forms of combat, one on one, siege, assassination, long range, support, etc.
He told me to use all the resources to increase their combat prowess quickly, while making sure that the basics were not left untrained, he gave me permission to use all the available facilities in the training hall to no limit, both for the new troops, as well as the old ones, he said that we would soon be going to attack someplace, and that he needed both powerful, and competent people along with him. I said that I would immediately begin magic training, but he told me to take my time, and my respect for him shot through the roof.
Truly deserving of our lord to take into consideration the capacity of his men to endure training, he told me to ensure that every one took enough food and rest, he also asked if there were any complaints from any one, and when I told him there were none, he told me to report if there was any inconvenience for any one.
Ahh, how kind is our lord, we truly do not deserve him. If only I could be of more use to him.
Disregarding all of my exhaustion, I started to increase my training to improve myself, and at first, it was a tad bit too much, but I pulled through, and the results were satisfying, to say the least. I was getting at least one stat point for three hours of training, two into my intelligence, I have to thank the skill, 'Pain resistance' for that. Man, that skill was torture to get, but it was worth it, I'll put the description down below.
[Pain resistance] [Passive]
[After enduring excruciating pain, your body as well as your mind has gotten accustomed to it, increasing your tolerance to pain]
[Increases pain tolerance by 30%]
With this handy-dandy skill, I was able to push my muscles quite a bit further than it would be considered healthy, but it didn't really matter because everyone of us knows healing magic, a plus from sparring and hunting injuries.
Nevertheless, it was the fourth day, since the new troops were summoned, when Lord Verum called us all to the altar, which, to be honest, left me a bit confused, I had seen lord Verum training a lot, so something big had to happen for him to call ALL of us, which worried me a bit.
I got there and asked for his orders, but he just waved and said, "Just wait till all of our combat troops are gathered here." And so, I obeyed, and waited.
When every one had arrived, Lord Verum turned to the altar, and after a few seconds, it started to glow. Naturally I knew what that meant.
The altar was going to summon more of my fellow warriors to aid in the lord's conquest.
