"This is one of the friends I was talking about." Baker said, presenting Yoshi to his parents. Yoshi politely bows. "Nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Ikari. I'm Yoshi." Yoshi voiced it nicely. His parents scan him for a moment, before humming. They approve. "It's nice to meet you, Yoshi." His father said, bowing back. "Is there something wrong?" His mother asked worriedly. Yoshi smiled, shaking his head.
"No ma'am. I am just here to help with an English assignment." Baker had asked Yoshi to help him, but he didn't know the other would show up. But thank the lord for perfect writing. His father sits back down. "Well I'm sorry to say this but we were actually have a-"
"Actually, it's fine! I was just going to ask where did you put my old soccer shirts, but I thankfully remembered. Ok, well gotta go." He grabbed Yoshi's arm, pulling him towards the stairs. Yoshi followed, walking up the steps and into Baker's room. Baker walked around him to shut the door, before turning around.
"You're here." Yoshi smiled and nodded. "I am. And I came up with an idea." He said happily. Baker sighed, stepping forward to hug the boy one more time, before stepping back towards the bed. "You saved me, you really did." Baker said, sighing. He sat on the bed, Yoshi sitting beside him. "Aren't I amazing? Ok, would you like to hear my amazing idea?" Yoshi asked, almost excited for him. Baker nodded.
"A letter."
Baker looked at him confused. "A… letter?" Yoshi nods. He reaches into his pocket, pulling out two tickets to the fair. Wait, the fair? "As a distraction. We'll write a coming out letter, give it to them. Give them a couple hours to process it, and then come back home. I got these-" He holds up the two fair tickets. "- so that you can forget what was happening at home." Yoshi explained simply. Baker nodded. He reached over, grabbing a piece of paper and a pencil.
"So, where do I start?"
______
Yoshi places a hand on Baker's shoulder. "You ready?" He asks, smiling. Baker signs with nervousness, before nodding. "Not really, but I guess." He held a thin piece of paper, that had more honesty then he has ever had to write. Yoshi nods. "That's all I was looking for." He says. Yoshi grabs Baker's hand, giving it a gentle squeeze before walking out into the kitchen.
"Hey, Mom… Dad. Can I go with Yoshi to the fair?" His mom was done with the food, placing it into the oven. His father was still reading his book. "You're done with your schoolwork?" He asks. Baker nods. "Yeah, we are." "Ok then, you can go. Have fun." His father said, waving towards him. "Well, actually one more thing….. Uh. I want you to read this letter." He steps to the wooden table, placing the letter down.
His dad reaches to grab the letter, but Baker moves it away. "Uh, not yet. Later, while we're gone." He says quickly. His mother turns to look at him. "Is everything ok?" She eyes the two, as if they have some secret plan. Well, they technically did. "Yes ma'am, everything is fine." Yoshi said politely. Where was the Yoshi that was making fun of Baker an hour ago?
"Ok, we'll read it when you two are gone." His father said, sighing. Baker nodded, before bowing to them, Yoshi doing the same. "Thank you, so much." Baker mumbled, before stepping away. He grabbed Yoshi's arm, pulling in to the door. "God, I'm terrified." Baker whispered, allowing Yoshi to take the lead. "You shouldn't be. At least they didn't look weird when we were holding hands. I have a feeling they'll be fine with it."
Yoshi walked up to a car, unlocking it with ease. "Uh, isn't this Kai's car?" Baker asked, opening the door. Yoshi nods, walking over to the other side of the car. "Yep. He said I could borrow it because it was an emergency."
Baker steps into the car, shutting the door once he's in. Yoshi places his hand on the center console, Baker grabbing his hand and holding it."Baker, breath." Yoshi encourages, looking over at the blond. "Wha-what?" He was breathing, well at least he thought he was. He focused on his breath. "You're gripping my hand too tightly." Yoshi laughs. Baker instantly releases Yoshi's hand, placing him in his lap. "Sorry…" Baker mumbled.
Yoshi rolls his wrist, before sighing. "It's fine, trust me."
"Why did you do all this for me? You paid for my ticket and everything." Baker mumbled, turning over to Yoshi, who smiled. The brunette pulls out of the parking spot, beginning to drive onto the road. "You're my friend, right? You did all this nice stuff to me, this is me helping. You are sweet and nice. This is just me repaying some kindness." Yoshi shrugged lightly.
Baker smiled, nudging Yoshi's shoulder. "You're too sweet to me, it's insane." Baker murmurs. Yoshi laughs, glancing at the radio. He softly plays some Japanese versions of original K-POP songs. "Yoshi, why did you choose the fair? Why not the movies or something?" Baker asked, turning his head towards the door.
Yoshi hums lightly to the song. "Oh, because when I came out to my parents, I went there to distract myself. That's where I met Kai." Yoshi informed me. Baker gasped, turning from the window to the driver. "No way! What was he like? Tell me the story!"
Yoshi laughed.
"No, I'll tell you some other time." Baker pouted at him, grabbing the boy's arm that was resting on the console, cuddling with it. "No, tell me now. It's going to be so cute and sweet. Or sad. I don't care, just please-" Yoshi glanced at him. Baker had to admit, he sounded like Yoshi right about now. The light tugging, the begging, maybe he was hanging around the boy too much. Once he realized he was touching Yoshi in a more affectionate water, he pulled away. "Sorry." He mumbled.
Yoshi laughed once again, this time hitting him lightly. "We seriously had this conversation not even five minutes ago. It's ok," Yoshi giggled. "It's cute." Yoshi compliments, Baker's head instantly going down. He couldn't feel himself blushing, yet he knew that he probably was. No reason to take risks. Yoshi sighs dramatically. "I want to see Dom Baker again." He smiles, turning his head to Baker for a moment, before back at the door.
Baker wanted to die for the third time that day.
