Chapter 5 - To: Mason (johndoe58@lordsofrings.com)

Subject: Re: That Night

Mason;

I guess I haven't made myself clear. I don't know your real name, I don't want to know your real name, I don't particularly care what your real name is. I am not going to give you my real name, either, so just call me Gyselle.

I suppose I am required to be aware of such possible threats. They are actually half the reason I'm insisting we remain anonymous. If we don't know each other's identities, then we can neither threaten nor claim to love each other.

My reasons to insist on giving birth are simple: I believe that all children deserve a chance to be born into this world and be loved, no matter what the nature of their parentage might be. I would make the same choice whether I was married twenty years or breaking up with my first boyfriend. My child will LIVE and be loved, no matter how many sacrifices I have to make to ensure that.

I don't remember your friend coming in, or even any knocks on the door. You might want to check whether they actually tried to come back at all. I don't really want to suggest they broke your trust, but it would be better for you to find out now than dismiss it and later discover the person you trust isn't who you think he is. The only reason I had let my guard down around the guy who drugged me was because I was already familiar with him.

My plan moving forward is as simple as my motivations for safe pregnancy: act like I'm pregnant until proven otherwise, and outside of that forget it ever happened. I will tell my mom what happened, and maybe my dad, but probably not any other family or friends.

I will reply if you email me, and give you my phone number if you're persistent enough to earn it. Robo mail is cheating, by the way. And maybe, just maybe, if you keep it up long enough I'll consider telling you my real name.

Private investigators, hacking my email to locate my IP address, and hotel security footage are all free game. I figure if you're willing to go that far, you're serious enough to have earned whatever info you get from them. Not that I have any power to stop you.

Oh, but even if you do those things, you'd still need to earn my trust before I'd agree to meet in person.

Gyselle
