Chapter 25 - Chapter 24; Reunion pt.4

Reverie slowly opened her eyes. She was in a deep dreamless slumber up till now. As she opened her eyes, the soft light of the room filled her vision. It wasn't blinding, which made it easy to get accustomed to it. She slowly pulled herself up and sat straight in the bed. Half her body still covered in the sheets, she turned to her left to see Michael laying there in a star position on his stomach. Both his arms stretched out, he snored away peacefully, his breathing steady. Ren chuckled at the adorable sight and petted the boys head. When he slightly groaned, her hand flinched away reflexively. She had no intention of waking the child, so she stopped and looked at the other end of the bed. Miyu rested there, leant against one of the wooden pillars of the bed.

Reverie was relieved to see the girl rest for once, as she hadn't witnessed it so far, ever since Miyus awakening. She was worried she might overwork herself, even if she was a cyborg there had to be limits on how much energy she got, Ren thought.

Reverie turned her gaze once more to her right side and saw Nox rolled up there, sleeping. She petted the cats head and he gave soft purrs in response. His purrs always made her smile and she continued to pet him, while turning her attention to the white and blue animal next to him. It was a squirrel she had never seen before, yet she didn't mind it, as it probably was part of their party. It wouldn't be here otherwise. She only wondered who's pet it was. Michael's probably, she imagined. She stopped petting Nox head and carefully climbed off the bed, as to not wake anyone up.

Once she stood she noticed, that both her shoes and coat were taken off. It was probably Miyu who did it, then she gave a quick glance around the room, to find the items laying on the couch on the opposite of the bed.

She acknowledged them being there and strolled over to the big mirror.

Placing a hand on the surface, she imagined what she wanted to see. She had two things she wanted to check out, before moving again. She wanted to know Gilberts location and safety, as well as the state of the current situation in the outside world. Many things could happen in a short amount of time and if they didn't tread carefully, they would die.

The surface of the mirror distorted, like a drop on a calm water surface and soon showed a scene in which Gilbert was sitting around a bonfire. He wasn't alone, there were two people with him. One of them, the girl recognized immediately.

-So he is with the jerk... I won't ask why, according to the tense atmosphere it is easy to assume they don't really get along well, I guess they are just tolerating each other for now. Well good for me, that jerk isn't trustworthy but he has got some strength, so he will be able to protect Gil in the worst case I guess. But who is that girl? The jerk never made the impression of liking having people around so she can't possibly be his companion, right? But it would be impossible for Gil to have made a new companion in that short amount of time, he also doesn't seem too friendly with her, so she really is with the jerk then I guess...hard to believe. I kinda feel sorry for that girl...what did he do to make her accompany him?!

She started to overthink many things, as she watched the three people sitting quietly around the fire. None of them seemed to want to speak and the air was electrified from Vincent and Gilbert staring daggers into another. The girl was most obviously uncomfortable, yet she remained silent.

Reverie decided it made no sense to further watch this scene, as there was no new intel to gather from it.

She focused again and the mirror distorted again, making way for yet another scene. Ren held her breath when she saw the horrifying images in front of her. The city was in a sea of flames and in it's center stood a giant creature. The body and head of a lion, a long snake as it's tail and from the back of it stretched out the head of a goat, without a doubt it was the chimera.

-So that's what Persephone meant, when she said she wouldn't need to wait long...she must have known this thing would show up soon. A little too soon in my opinion...I'm neither strong nor prepared enough to off this thing, just like the rest of the party. I didn't want to drag them into this but it's a different matter now anyways.

She continued to watch the chimera rampaging, as she thought over things, she realized that something was bugging her. There was something off entirely, where did it come from so suddenly?! She decided to place her hand once more on the mirrors surface and rewind the scene back to see what happened in the past. Like a movie being rewound to a certain point the images flickered in front of her eyes until they came to a stop.

The girl watched as a person descended down from the sky. The middle aged looking man had broad muscles all over his body and only a white tunic covering his hips and one of his shoulders some. He wore leather sandals and his grey hair was decorated with olive leaf branches. He looked straight out of a greek mythology book and his left arm had several golden arm rings embracing it.

Reverie had no idea who this man was but he meant trouble. Was he a god? Or another person of a mythology? What do you call such people, if not a god? As she thought that over, the fact he descended from the sky helped her come up with an idea. She decided to call them constellations, as she gave a quick glance at the stars above in the night sky.

She quickly focused her attention back to the man again and listened to him speaking loud and clear to the people roaming the cities streets.

"You have all led quite the boring lives so far haven't you? Don't worry! I'm here to make it interesting from now on!"

With a self serving grin and a snap of his fingers a portal opened in the middle of the streets. Chimera sprang out of it and wasted no time going on a rampage. It's claws and several pair of teeth ripped anything and anyone apart that was in a radius of twenty metres.

Screams and blood of the people, that hid in all kinds of places of the city, filled the streets.

Reverie wasn't even there but she could smell the stench of blood and fire, which broke out on several corners due to the chimeras breath.

Dragons were one thing when it came to spitting fire and chimeras had the same ability to some extend. It wasn't nearly as comparable to a dragons but it was enough to destroy whole cities.

As the horror scene carried on, loud laughter could be heard. The man, who was still floating in the air laughed as if enjoying himself to his hearts content.

Reverie usually didn't care for humans much and the apocalypse was actually a happy occurence in her opinion, as she had always wished for mankinds doom, but this wasn't it. The fact some constellation asshole was killing off so many people and enjoying their misery made her sick.

She clenched her fists in anger as she watched the scene. This was already in the past, so she knew she couldn't do anything anymore but she wouldn't let it slip just because of that.

"Will you kill him?" the deep low voice next to her called out.
