Soraya looked Gilbert deeply in the eyes when she started to adress him. She was earnest and didn't want to let the opportunity pass.
Vincent was nowhere in sight and she wasn't even sure whether he would come back again, nonetheless for her. Her only way of surviving now, was to cling and hold onto any straw she could grasp. Said straw this time was Gilbert, who now was seemingly forced to train her. It was the perfect time to get closer and bond, so she wouldn't be left behind in this cruel world.
Gilbert silently observed and waited for her to continue. He felt, that the girl was anxious about something, but he didn't want to Interrupt her or push her, so he waited patiently. At last she opened her mouth.
"C-can i...really become strong?" ,she stuttered in a low voice, not breaking eye contact.
Gil closed his eyes as he contemplated his following words carefully. He didn't want to give her a wrong impression but also didn't want to shatter her hope, especially considering the upcoming crisis. He had to encourage her, but he felt bad lying either. However, at last he decided and turned back to the girl with a soft smile. He gently patted her head while he responded to her.
"Of course! If you work hard, that is."
It wasn't a complete lie, but it was still a lie, and he felt bad for it but seeing the girls eyes light up with hope and courage kind of comforted him a bit. Maybe, just maybe she could make it, he thought. He desperately wanted to believe in Ren's judgement, because she clearly saw something in her. He just wasn't sure what yet. At least, that's what he liked to believe.

Somewhere in the depths of the dark tunnel, close to the next Station, a girl and a young boy walk hand in hand, quietly along the walls.
"Big sis, what do you mean by 'train me"?"
"Just what I said. I'm gonna train you!"
"Can you even do that...?" the boy asked anxiously. He had no intention to doubt Ren or her abilities, but he never really saw her use magic or knowing anything about it, let alone see her train herself or anyone else. He didn't want to upset her either with his question, however the fear of being yelled at didn't come to life. Instead he was greeted with a soft and confident smile.
"Of course I can. I can do anything you know?" she exclaimed.
The boy was too stunned to speak. Did she really just say she can do anything? He blinked a few times in disbelief, when the two came to a stop.
"Here should be good", Ren claimed and turned back to Michael.
"Listen, I know I might not be as well versed in magic like Gil, but I got a plan. Trust me on this okay?" she spoke gently to the boy.
Whatever his reply would be, she would accept it. He trusted her so far and kind of hoped he would do it this time as well, but she wouldn't force him even if he decided not to. Whatever his reply, she was ready to hear it.
"Okay!" the boy replied cheerfully after a short silence of contemplation.
He was ready to learn, whatever it may be ,she wants to train him.
