Gilbert and Vincent kept glaring at each other, while Soraya was crying internally. The mood hadn't changed at all ever since they set up camp the night before. She wished really badly for the two men to get along, yet had no idea what she could do to achieve exactly that.
The flames of the bonfire warmed her skin, as she thought of possible strategies to make them friends. Her nose was running a little, as she caught a mild cold, but she didn't mind it much. She wiped her nose with her sleeve and looked between the men. The more she looked at them, the more she had to admit, that both were unusual pretty. Their looks slapped any victorias secret model in the face by three times at least.
She aggressively shook her head to clear her thoughts. She had to focus.
Just when she thought she had gotten a great idea to lighten the mood, Vincent stood up abruptly and unsheathed his sword. He made a few steps away from the fire and stared into the darkness of the subway tunnel.
Gilbert felt something was off and stood up as well. He felt an immeasureable amount of mana building up in front of them and his face hardened. Something was coming.
Soraya was confused, slowly rose from her spot and hid behind Gilbert, in an attempt to feel safe.
A few metres in front of the group a pool of lightning collected in the air. Mana build up in the center of it and gradually built a round orb. With a powerful lightning strike ,blinding light shot out and lit up the entire tunnel. The party members all covered their eyes with an arm and a gust of strong wind blew past them all. Soraya was almost blown away by the wind but Gilbert held onto her in the last moment.
The air was electrified and breathing was a bit hard due to it.
The light soon made way for a portal. Gilbert knew these portals by now, it was an abyssal portal, so he knew exactly who was coming but so did the other man. Gilbert didn't hesitate and ran in front of Vincent, who was holding out his sword at the portal ,to block the mans way.
A second later three shadows could be seen approaching through the gate. Soraya looked at it in wonder and excitement at the same time. Vincent declared his dissatisfaction via a befitting annoyed expression. One that was typical for him by now. Gilbert didn't even flinch. He made a promise to the girl that was coming and he would keep it.
The two men stared daggers at each other and then the portal sparked up, as three people walked through it.
Vincent's eyes widened in surprise as he noticed a tall silver haired woman, who he did not expect to see here. He changed his plans immediately and gritted his teeth. Without paying attention to Gilbert anymore he quickly moved past him. With lightning speed he swung his blade at the neck of the tall woman, who in response quickly, too quickly even, parried the strike with her own blade. She had transformed her arm into a long sword, the moment she felt animosity.
"YOU! I thought I got rid of you!" Vincent shouted at Miyu, who only gave a smirk in response.
"Too bad, as you can see you obviously failed! 'She' was always a step ahead of you after all!" she then retorted at him.
Vincent grew even angrier.
-So not only is the dreamer still alive but her annoying pesky pet robot as well! This time I will get rid of them for real.
Reverie stepped closer to the two fighting people and grabbed Vincent's blade with her bare hand. She stared at the man with an empty expression and then spoke solemnly.
"Instead of wasting time here, why not make a peace treaty for the time being with us? I'm sure you are aware, but hell broke out on the surface, it's not the time to be fighting among ourselves." she glanced at Gilbert, who was staring at her in great shock. "I see you took good care of my friend, thank you for that." she then said while glancing back at Vincent, who murdered her a thousand times over with his eyes.
"I can take care of that problem, even without you and your pet robot!" he angrily shouted back.
"I'm sure you can, but I guess it will be hard without any party members. Ah, correction; you do have one party member but it will be the same result I guess." her voice showed no sign of empathy or kindness when she spoke to him. It was as cold and piercing as the blizzard from the mountain area, where the party had been before.
Soraya and Michael completely overwhelmed with the situation took a few steps back and decided to make a silent aliance, as they watched the adults.
Miyu retreated her blade at one of Rens eye signs and stepped behind the girl, glaring at Vincent. She was ready to kill him the second he attempted something.
Gilbert stepped next to Vincent and placed a hand on his shoulder, speaking in a low voice at the other man.
"I agree with her. A peace treaty, even only temporary, will be more useful to all of us, than trying to go at each others throat. Also I won't forgive you if you dare hurt Ren!"
The blonde man gave a warning glare as his eyes met the black haired mans.
"Tch!"
-Fools. They all had completely fallen for her already, there's nothing I can do right now. Guess I will have to look for a different opportunity..
Vincent withdrew his sword, as Ren let it go and sheathed it. He turned around and crossed his arms in annoyance. He really didn't want to do this but he was left with no choice.
"Fine. But I will kill you after we have finished off the thing on top!" he yelled at the unfazed Reverie and walked off.
Soraya watched him go, unsure wether to follow him or not.
Michael grabbed her arm and spoke in a calm low voice at her.
"Leave him. He needs some time for himself I think"
The teenage girl nodded and looked back at the rest of the party.
Reveries stern and emotionless pokerface shifted into a soft and gentle smile as she approached Gilbert for a hug. The blonde haired man stiffened at the sudden gesture but returned it regardless. Michael quickly rushed over angry over the fact that Gilbert, who he had been worrying over all this time wouldn't greeted him and focus on Reverie only. He pulled the two apart, just to take Gilbert's place. He stuck out his tongue at the man mokingly and snuggled up on the girl.
Gilberts face darkened but he kept quiet. Michael really loved both of them and held them dearly, but he was still a child, so he would occasionally act as one to get the attention he wishes for.
Reverie petted the boys head, when she turned to look at Soraya.
Without saying anything she just opened out one of her arms ,indicating for the other girl to join in on the hug.
Soraya reluctantly embraced the two people with her face flaring up in a red hue. She was clearly embarassed and she didn't know these people, yet they all seemed so nice and caring. She couldn't understand why her master wanted to kill this nice woman.
She looked up at the girls features and was dazzled by her sparkling emerald green eyes. She had never seen such pretty eyes before and was jealous. She always hated her heterochromic eyes. Ren smiled at the kids and then addressed Miyu.
"Miyu, how long do we have till it comes here?"
Miyu responded promptly.
"Three hours, forty-six minutes and twenty-two seconds"
"That isn't much time to prepare but well, better than nothing. Gil, you have my scythe don't you?"
she looked at the tall man in front of her and he nodded in response.
He quickly grabbed the weapon out of his dimensional space bag and held it out to her.
Miyu took the weapon in Reveries stead and Ren thanked him for taking care of it.
She didn't know why but this scythe was really important to her and she didn't feel well if anyone else had it. The kids let go of the embrace and stepped aside.
"Time to prepare to fight a monster of history." Reverie said with her cold emotionless voice and pointed to the ceiling with her index finger.
The monster that was awaiting them was up on the surface and the party members would certainly die if they didn't prepare well enough.
The kids gulped loudly and Gilbert's face grew stern.
"What monster?" he asked.
"Ever heard of Chimera?"
