Chapter 16 - Vampire

The group of three walked through the long corridor towards the Elevator.

Freya leaned against the wall. She felt someone lean against her shoulder.

She blinked at seeing the blue eyes so close to her. "What are you doing?"

Titus sighed. He pointed at the black-shirted man. "I don't think that this man is trustworthy."

"I can hear you."

"I know," Titus said. "So if anything happens, I will try my best to save you, so you should try to run away."

"Um.." Freya felt guilt rise in her. If something thing had happened, she would have tried to run away without even glancing at him…yet…now… she felt obligated to stay and try to support him. But she was just a normal Human, how could she helps a magic user in a Mage Battle?

She turned to the black-dressed man instead of responding. "What is your name?"

The man smirked. "Finally realised you didn't know my name?"

Freya shook her head. "Just did not have the opportunity to ask before."

The man sighed. "William Widons. Come on then. We need to go meet the principal."

The man took out a silver card and placed it on the door.

Cheng Xiu looked on as a golden construction came into being. In the centre of it was a single dot, which was inside an inverted Triangle, which in turn was inside a square, and the square was inside a circle. All of that was inside a large square.

"You bastard!" Titus screamed. "An inverted triangle in a square? You are trying to kill us, aren't you?"

He grabbed William's collar and shook him.

William looked at him with disdain in his eyes. "You are an idiot."

"What did you say!"

Freya cleared her throat.

Titus spun around and grabbed her wrist. "We need to get out of here! Now!"

"Titus?"

"Aren't you hearing what I said? That is the Symbol of Destruction!"

William slapped Titus's hand that remained on him, away from his collar and straightened himself. He turned to Freya, there was a hint of interest in his eyes that wasn't so obvious before.

"At least one of you know your magical theory," he muttered.

Titus glared and took out a golden card. "You can answer the Royal Guards what you are doing!"

"Titus," Freya called as she pulled her hand away from his grip. "There is a square on the outside."

Titus froze. "So?"

"Square on the outside is a temporary seal, and it has a central dot, which means there is an anchor to the spell construction."

"What?"

"The spell creates a hole in the wall, idiot," William said. He then turned to Freya. "If he wasn't Royalty, I would have failed him already."

Freya sweatdropped. Why was he telling that to her?

Titus glared. "Freya, he might be-"

The elevator door melted away.

"I'm not paying for property damage," Freya said. "I'm too poor for it."

"Me too," said William. "It's a good thing we have the Prince to cushion us."

"I'm cushioning nothing! Especially you!"

William smirked. "So you would only cushion Freya? I am hurt. Consider me hurt. Is our brotherhood all gone for a girl? This girl?"

Freya found herself in William's embrace.

She stood still. She hadn't seen him move. He had been far too fast.

Freya gulped. Was that a spell effect or…

Her eyes went to his pale face, to his mouth, and then to the dark purple tattoo behind his ear.

She regonised it as a spell…a very specific spell…

Could he be a…

His eyes locked with hers.

Freya shivered, and broke out into cold sweat.

His eyes held an amused glint. He took out a gem from his pocket and placed it on her neck, where it turned into a crimson-stoned necklace.

"What are you doing!"

Titus's shout broke her off the trance that she fell into.

The black haired man looked at the blue haired boy with an innocent smile. "Just helping my Substitute to be better at something."

Titus glared. "Better at what, you damned bloodsucker! Your victim?"

Freya gasped. Her guess was right.

The man chuckled. "Like I said, Prince…I don't actually like you. And would have been more happy if I didn't have to help you, but you are a Prince, and your father asked our school to ensure your safety. So…I hope you will refrain from shouting things out in the open. Look at the beautiful Freya. She knows how humans should react to such situations."

Titus gasped as he realised that Freya looked pale and ready to pass out. "Freya…"

Freya shook her head and extricated herself from William's touch. "Mr Widons, I would appreciate it if you do not try to touch me without my permission ever again, unless you feel that I am in mortal danger or will get mutilated. Can you do that?"

William raised an eyebrow. "You are clearly afraid. Who are you trying to show this brave face to?"

Freya let out a breath to calm herself. "Yes, I am afraid. Any sane human would be, when they are faced with a being who you are a food to. But you are, as you said, going to assign me the roll your Subtitute teacher. If that is the case, then I should mark the limits that I don't want you to cross. The first being, I have my personal bubble, do not cross it. Please."

The man chuckled. "And the second?"

"I will not become your blood donator."

The man leaned in and whispered, "Are you sure about that? Haven't you heard? Being a donator is a…pleasurable job."

Freya blushed as she stepped back.

"How dare you!" Titus said and the golden card in his hand started to glow.

Freya laid her hand on top of his.
