Chapter 11 - 11. Little wolf

Perhaps it was the sudden tug of her heart that ached at the sight of the little wolf, Mei reaching out her hands to touch it. What her hands met wasn't something soft and fluffy but rather a warm and damp fur. Mei instantly confirmed her thoughts. This little wolf was indeed injured.

Now the question was what will she do now?

"Hey wolfie, wanna live?"

The little wolf didn't move. Its slightly open eyes stared at her blankly.

Mei didn't know what she was doing but she felt like she would never get an answer from the little wolf probably because it was an animal that couldn't talk but Mei decided. She had thought of taking the little wolf with her.

She was injured and so was this little wolf. They say similar things bring people closer. Was this an example of one?

Mei reached out her hands and carefully lifted the little wolf into her arms. To her surprise the little wolf simply compiled with her actions. When she stood up and readjusted the little wolf's position in her arms, Mei felt the little wolf easing into her arms.

For some weird reason Mei suddenly felt as though the world was a lot warmer and the brightness was bearable.

Mei walked out of the alley with the little wolf in her arms. Since the wolf was injured and she didn't have much first aid stuff in her condo that she owned without her parents' knowledge, Mei decided to take the little wolf to the vet.

Luckily for them there was a 24 hour vet store located merely two blocks away. As Mei headed there she walked at a fast pace but her arms stayed steady. The entire seven minute walk was quiet except for the little whimpers that managed to escape from the little wolf.

Mei wasn't used to comforting people nor was she used to reaching out first to help someone. It has been two years and this was all new to her.

She didn't know why but she felt a weird connection to the little wolf. Perhaps that was why she was currently on her way to the vet?

When they reached the vet, a doctor hurriedly checked them in and the little wolf was taken in for a check-up. Since Mei didn't know what had happened to the little wolf, she could only wait outside while the vets performed a detailed check-up on him and gave him medications along with the necessary injections.

By fate or by luck the little wolf was taken care of within 2 hours. The little wolf was not severely injured however, he did have several external injuries that required healing besides that there was only a few infections from the open wound but that was all.

The vet had only needed to give him some antibiotics and some injections to ensure that he could recuperate properly.

Since the extent of his injuries didn't require him to be checked on a regular basis by the vet, Mei was allowed to take the little wolf home, which she did. But not before purchasing a few gentle toys, a cage, some food, a leash, food bowls and a comfy bed. Unfortunately it was past midnight and they wouldn't be able to get them delivered now so the items were to be sent to her condo in the morning. She did however, take home a small pack of food for the little wolf and a cage with her.

At half past two in the morning, Mei walked into the vacant condo. The two floor condo was almost always empty. Except of course the three days that Mei spends here in pain and agony every month or the two trusted cleaners that come in to clean the house on a weekly basis.

When Mei walked in the lights were off and the entire floor was dark. The entrance door faced a wall to ceiling window that was facing the heart of Casnus City. The darkness within the room due to the lack of light allowed for the bright city lights to bask in through the window and lighten up the room.

If it was a normal day Mei would've loved to sit on her long L-shaped couch that also transforms into a bed and watch the late city lights until the sun rose but this obviously wasn't the time. She glanced at the cage in her hand and carefully walked near the L shaped couch situated at the center of the living room and placed down the cage on top of the white rug.

Mei also set down the bag of food on top of the coffee table. Then she bent down and carefully opened up the cage and allowed the little wolf to come to her. The process was very tedious. She was naturally not fond of this so she just gave up.

The little wolf was scared of her and the new environment despite her helping it out so it naturally shrunk itself onto the back of the cage. The five minutes that Mei spent patiently waiting for the little wolf to come out was very tedious. Mei saw no progress so she decided to get a bowl from the kitchen and some water for the wolf.

She put the water down on the floor and the other empty bowl right next to each other. Both bowls were eventually a few feet in front of the L shaped couch where Mei had planned to spend the night.

When the bowls were set, Mei opened the pack of food and poured some into the bowl for the little wolf. She then walked into one of the master bedrooms on the first floor. A few minutes later she walked out wearing a crop top and some shorts with a comfy looking blanket in her hands.

Since the little wolf didn't want her care, Mei decided she would just stick to her plans for the night. With the blanket in hand she sat herself down on the couch and pressed a few buttons here and there to adjust herself nice and comfy.

Mei was facing the city lights and everything was just perfect. A part of her conscience did hurt when she thought of how she just left the poor little wolf all alone but she knew it was needed so he could adjust himself.

"The cage door is open, you're more than welcome to come out and have food or join me if you want."

With that said Mei turned her head away to face the window and started watching the faint night stars at the comfort of her own home.
