Chapter 3 - 3. He'll be out any minute now

Mei seemed to have recovered from her pleasant shock after a while and retracted the smile on her face. The corners of her lips felt weird and the two intense stares that she was getting from the direction of the entrance didn't help at all. The air around her turned cold as she glared in the direction of the two girls.

The second her cold gaze fell on them, the two girls became flustered. They started opening their mouths to apologize and their hands moved about in front of them as though they wanted to explain but the cold and uninterested gaze that Mei gave them only made them even more flustered!

After a few seconds of drama the two girls seemed to have come to their senses and turned around. They hurriedly took their eyes away from her figure and walked into the direction of another aile.

Seeing that the girls had left and she was once again "alone" Mei turned her gaze back to the box in front of her. Clearing her throat, Mei lifted her hand and opened the flap-like door that was at the center of the box. Putting her hand inside, Mei opened her palm and waited.

Standing there with her hand inside the box, Mei waited for something but she didn't hear anything for a few seconds and a flash of disappointment followed by a glint of irritation crossed her eyes. Just as she was about to retract her hand she felt something cold being placed in her hand.

Mei waited for a few more seconds and sure enough she felt another item being placed in her hand. When she heard two light knocks resonating from the box, Mei knew that the person was done giving her all that they wanted to give. Mei carefully retracted her hand.

When Mei finally pulled out her hand she saw a can of Tea Joy along with a paper note. A slight hint of disappointment flashed through her eyes, but she carefully hid it and walked towards the cashier.

"Boss."

The old man behind the counter turned towards Mei and asked, "Are you ready to pay?"

"Yea." Holding up the can of Tea Joy Mei casually looked at the old man. "$3 right?"

Seeing the old man nod, Mei took out a rare $5 bill from her pocket and directly placed it on the counter. "Keep the change."

She turned around and left the store right after.

The two girls who were staring at Mei earlier came out from behind the shelves and walked up to the old man standing behind the counter.

Like little fangirls they anxiously asked the old man, "Boss, what did she buy?"

The old man was really confused as to why they wanted to know but seeing how they seemed so anxious to know he replied, "Tea joy."

A look of confusion filled their eyes as they asked the old man, "Are you sure boss? She just bought a can of Tea Joy?"

The old man calmly nodded. Of course he was sure. He'd recognize that energy drink like the back of his hand.

Receiving his confirmation, the two girls held their hands together and let out an equally loud squeal and jumped up and down. Pure joy radiated from their bodies as they jumped up and down.

The old man suddenly regretted telling them anything. "Stop yelling in my store!" His stern voice rang through the air stopping the girls from their little happy dance.

Clearly ashamed of themselves they scratched the back of their necks awkwardly before apologizing with a slight bow. "Sorry boss!"

With a common understanding both of the girls then turned towards the refrigerator and grabbed a can of Tea Joy and paid for their drinks before leaving the store. On their way towards the train station they caught a glimpse of Mei on a motorbike. However, before they could catch a clear sight of her the motorcycle roared to life and sped away.

They really couldn't tell if it was Mei or not but when they saw the drinks in their hands they flashed a foolish smile at each other before walking into the train station.

On the other side, Mei was talking on the phone with someone as she steered the Devils Transformer Ghost with ease even when she drove at a speed higher than 100 mph.

Behind the red lined black rider's helmet that she was wearing, Mei's dark brown eyes shone coldly as she spoke on the phone through a pair of advanced airpods.

"I heard he is arriving back in the country after 5 years. He's even on the international blacklist. Why do you want me to escort him back safely? Won't that damage our purpose?"

The person on the other end of the line let out a grunt in response. "That's what I heard too, but the higher ups want us to get him safely into his hotel room. They even assigned some hidden shadows to watch over his safety in the hotel. Boss Y, told me to inform you to pick him up and safely get him to the hotel."

'They want to protect this man?'

Seemingly realizing what he had done, the person on the line became flustered as he added hurriedly, "J, don't you dare think too much! You're going to get us both doomed for life. I can't handle the punishment. Okay? Just do your job and get back home safely. It's almost your break time anyway. Do it well and go for your monthly break."

With that said he hung up the phone without waiting for "J" to respond to his words. Mei who could imagine how flustered he was over the phone let out a light chuckle as she sped up and made her way towards the airport.

The Devils Transformer Ghost came to a harsh stop right outside the entrance of Terminal 6 of the LMT International Airport. Without taking off her helmet, Mei got off her bike and pushed open the hidden storage compartment in her motorbike. From there she picked up a compressed bag of clothes which she held in her hands before closing the compartment back down and locking the bike in place. She then walked inside the airport and looked around.

Besides the helmet on her head, Mei blended in perfectly with the crowd as she made way towards the arrivals section. Mei pulled out her phone and checked the time.

4:36 PM

Mei walked towards the big screen displaying the flight numbers and their status. When she saw that her client's flight had landed 20 minutes ago she gave a slight nod in approval.

'He should be out any minute now.'
