I found my way to the kitchen easily since it was the first familiar thing about the pack house to me. The whole pack was alive and questioning what the pack meeting was supposed to be about. Some eyes was following me and I got the feeling they were wondering if it'd be announced I was Luna... After all, I am sleeping with him. I'm sure they can smell it by now. Alpha Brendon was like an idol. He didn't do anything without the pack's knowledge. In the kitchen, the pack's head chief had made some buffalo chicken crossiant rolls. It was the first thing I grabbed a plate of when it was offered by one of the kitchen staff. Omegas mostly ran the pack kitchen. If it wasn't cleaning, then they were good at cooking and laundry. I took my plate with me out of the kitchen to continue on my hunt for Alpha Brendon.
His scent took me outside where I found him talking to my father in the training field. His pupils he had been training were stretching and taking a break. Looks like Brendon is giving my father a heads up on the pack meeting's genre. I was about to walk out to them but felt someone grab my elbow and suddenly smelled Mal. I turned to face him in alarm. He gave me a smile and stole a crossiant off my plate to try.
"Hey!" I shouted playfully and smacked him. He laughed and ate the whole thing.
"What's up?" He asked me as he whipped his hands off. Mal had joined me, wearing a black tank top and gym shorts. Of course, this was out of his style. So, odds are he would be shifting back into a wolf soon and didn't want to bother styling his outfit.
"Aren't you supposed to be back out there with Niall soon?" I wondered as I rememberd he was now on 'double' duty. Thanks to Cole and Emmett.
"Pack meeting prolongued my lunch break," he told me. "Niall and I have to stay here until the meeting is over. Speaking of which, what's going on?" He asked curiously.
"I think we'll be inceasing-" I was cut off as I heard a growl come from across the field. Arwen snorted out like she knew exactly what I felt. Trouble. I looked towards Brendon to see him glaring me down. He started for me then but I didn't move as I stuffed my face with a crossiant. This might be my last meal. When he reached me he looked at Mal.
"Get lost," he told Mal suddenly. Mal awkwardly walked away and rubbed the back of his head as he went into the pack house. Brendon watched him before looking at me. "What part of 'stay' wasn't clear to you?" He asked me.
"The part where I'm not your mate so you can't boss me around like that," I told him.
"I'M YOUR ALPHA," He growled out and I suddenly felt ALL eyes on us. I lowered my gaze to the ground and pouted.
"Yes Alpha," I whispered softly. I felt tears coming to the surface but tried not to whimper in front of him. I couldn't stand this. I didn't even mean those words, it was just how loyal I felt to him. I glanced up at my father watching us. He looked like he wanted to help me but he wasn't about to go against his alpha.
Brendon seemed to calm down as he touched my chin and made me look up into his eyes. I could see his crystal blue eyes as he looked back into mine. He leaned down to linger his lips against mine. "I just want to keep you safe," he told me softly. "I don't want to control you. I can see now, you came out because you were hungry. You deserve to also be part in the pack meeting. I'm sorry I'm over reacting. It's just.. A lot going on right now, Blair." I nodded before leaning up and kissed his lips softly, to forgive him.
Brendon's eyes glazed over gray before he looked straight towards the woods and tensed up. I felt the hairs on my arms stand up. Something was going on... Brendon looked back at me as his eyes were blue again and he held me in his arms. "Blair, go inside. Listen to me, go inside right now," he begged and pushed my hair back behind my ear. "Don't come back out without my permission." He was about to back up from me- towards the woods but I stopped him.
"What happened?" I asked as I noticed my father shift into his wolf form and run towards the woods. "What's going on? Are they bringing Cole back?" I asked curiously and looked around as I noticed some of our best warriors shifting and following my father. I looked to see Brendon giving me a worried look. Mal was about to pass us but Brendon stopped him, grabbing his shoulder.
"Keep Blair inside," Brendon told him. He suddenly pushed me into Mal's arms. I growled in annoyance as I felt Mal grab my arms to keep me against his chest. Niall walked out of the pack house and walked up to Brendon.
"Alpha," Niall said and stopped by us. He looked at Mal and me before smiling softly. "Keep our future Luna safe," he warned Mal. I growled in annoyance.
"NO, I'm coming whereever you're going," I told them furiously. "It's Cole, isn't it?" I asked worriedly.
"South Border control picked up the scent of a rogue. Smells as strong as an alpha. We're going to go take care of it then we'll be back to have a pack meeting," Brendon assured me. "So just stay here," he begged. I groaned but heard Arwen whine to me.
'It's too dangerous, think of our future pup,' she begged me.
I sighed before relaxing and Mal eased up on me. I looked at Alpha Brendon and nodded.
"When you get back," I whispered softly. "I want a meeting along with you first," I told him.
"Of course," he promised.
I watched as half of the pack that was already here for the meeting disappeared into the woods to go hunt down the rogue. Mal somehow had a smile on his face as we went inside with the rest of the omegas.
"What are you smiling for?" I asked Mal as we walked together down a hall.
"I might be getting out of work because of you," he told me cheerfully.
I couldn't help but to laugh from his smart remark. I guess I was useful to someone. I decided to walk towards the library, Mal having no choice but to follow me there. I could collect some text books while we wait for Alpha Brendon and the pack to return. As the minutes began to tick by- it grew into half an hour, to hour, to hours. I watched the clock while scanning titles. Mal was about to fall asleep on the couch when Arwen barked and pratically scared me. 'Blair,' Arwen said in a warry voice. Mal's eyes opened too as he got off the couch and came over to be where I was at a book shelf. He grabbed my arms and we suddenly dropped to our knees.
I caught my breath as I listened to our suroundings. Paying attention to them, I could hear footsteps coming down the hall. I wasn't alarmed by it- but Arwen growled as they reached the door. 'ROGUE!' She snarled out. I could feel her brave soul fighting to get out and defend this room, these halls, and this territory. But I wasn't being forced to shift yet. Mal was clutching me as he held my mouth shut, stopping me from making any noise.
'ALPHA,' I cried out through the faint mind link I had to him. I begged that would be enough to reach him as I closed my eyes tightly. What if I can't fight off this rogue? They said he's an alpha... I'm not that strong! Mal will die- he's surely going to die trying to protect me. Those footsteps stopped right in front of the library door and Mal's breath caught in the back of his thoat. If there was one word to describe us, it was pure silence in that moment. The door handles twisted and Arwen instantly went off like an alarm. She wasn't going down without a fight. The doors pushed open and I peaked through the bookcase to have a clear view of the rogue.
The rogue, looked like a savage male version of a Nymph. If he washed up, he'd be actually good looking. But every rogue, had just a few things on their mind- especially an alpha. Sex, Hunt, Kill, or Eat. Like a wild wolf with nowhere specific to run off to. He had white foam running down from his lips, a sign he was rogue. He didn't have an ink of humanity but it won't stop him from shifting freely between forms. There were only a few things that could make an alpha go rogue. My guess would be as good as any of what happened to him. He was butt naked, muscles tone and fit. He had a mirror's shard cutting into his hand as he held onto it for a weapon. I couldn't tell if the blood on it was just his. He smelled the air and suddenly our eyes met.
FUCK.
AM
I
STILL IN HEAT?
"RUN!" I yelled towards Mal and got to my feet, breaking from his arms. He took the hint of the situation and we both ran for the window, him picking up a chair. I heard the rogue growl and run for us then. i grabbed a stack of cheap books to throw at him as Mal tried to break a window behind me. As I hint the rogue a few times, I could hear him growl as he looked even more pissed. But the books weren't doing anything but slowing him down some. He came at us then as I ran out of books. He threw the shard of glass and I instinctively flinched and heard Mal groan out in pain. I looked behind me as I saw him pull it from his shoulder then transform on cue into his wolf. I decided he couldn't do this alone and done the same. We both starting to circle the beast. He looked only at me before transforming into his wolf form.
It was game on.
Teeth and growls as Mal and I lunched at the rogue. His beast form was much bigger than ours combined. When alphas go rogue, they tend to grow even more in size. So it would be a hard match. We couldn't outrun him- No, Mal wouldn't be able to. I had to stick by this and defend him. Until our last breath. I lunged at his spine as Mal went for his belly. We were working hard to get in some wounds that would slow him down if we were to decide to run. I heard howls from the pack but they were distant. Were they not coming? Were they after something else?
The howl left me distacted and I was suddenly thrown into a bookcase, it toppling over and several followed. My vision blured as Arwen spoke, 'You hit your head.' I could smell Mal's blood as he whimpered. MAL! I looked towards them to see a blur of fur. 'He's got Mal by the throat!' Arwen yelled. I growled and felt my feet run as the blur came closer and I lunched at it. I buried my teeth into the flesh of the rogue. I could hear Mal's body get dropped. We were rolling then as I got the hint I was at his throat. We rolled until my jaws came loose and I felt him deliver a hard bite into my own throat. He growled triumphantly. 'NO!' I howled in pain and transformed back suddenly. The pain being too much to take on as a wolf. I could feel arms wrap around me, telling me he was a human now as well. I shoved him back and crawled from him. My neck stung and I could smell my blood. I suddenly felt him grab my ankle and snap it. I screamed- the noise echoing through the halls.
I felt tears leak out of my eyes as I felt my body starting to go numb.
I'm going to die. This is it! I don't even know if Mal is ok.
Alpha Brendon, where are you?
'BRENDON!'
