Chereads / The Scarlet Luna / Chapter 17 - Family Dinner

Chapter 17 - Family Dinner

Alpha Brendon told the pack there wasn't anything to worry over. He explained Innath was in swift recovery and it was probably a minor rogue attack. He didn't want them to panic anymore. He also announced I was Luna and pregnant with the future alpha. They were happy for the official announcement. But the pregnacy was still just a far off illusion to me. It felt unreal. We spent the remainder of the day trapped in the pack house. He still had a load of paperwork to go through. It was something a beta normally done but he was left to do it while Niall was in physical training.

About dinner time, there came a knock on the door. I was laying down on the couch in the room, watching Superstore with Sandra and Carol fighting over Jerry. Depsite it being an office for Brendon's work he still had a comfortable living-room style sitting area.

"Come in," Brendon called as he looked up from his paperwork he was going over. I looked at the door as well and hit pause on the TV. Niall came into the room with a smile beaming on his face.

"Hey sister, Alpha," he nodded at us before shutting the door behind him. "Vivienne? Are you hungry? Mom sent me to ask if you wanted to have dinner as a family tonight. I'll be bringing Lilith and my son over tonight. She said dinner is in an hour," he said as he took out his watch and nodded to confirm the time. "You're welcome to come too, Alpha Brendon," he said and looked at him.

Alpha Brendon looked at the clock on the wall before looking at me. "Blair, why didn't you say something? Were you just going to sit there hungry?" He asked worriedly. I smiled as I heard his concern and sat up to get a better look at him.

"I'm fine," I promised. "But do you want to come have a family dinner with me?" I asked sweetly. He blushed- actually blushed as he looked at me.

"Y-yeah," he whispered before shutting his computer down and stood up. He walked over to me and gave me a hand up off the couch.

"Perfect! Do me a favor and let mom know. See you later~!" He gave us a sweet smile before walking out. Alpha Brendon wrapped his arms around me and leaned into my neck and smelled me.

"This will be my first family dinner in a long time," he whispered to me. I giggled and reached up to caress his cheek. He then grabbed my hand and growled playfully before scooping me up bridal style. "I wonder what your mom has planned for dinner." I held back a smile as he carried me out of the room and straight down the hall.

"If I know my mom... She's probably going full out with dinner tonight since we haven't had a chance to sit down together as a family in a couple of years."

"You didn't come home durring summer break?" He asked in surprise.

"No, I thought it was a waste of gas. I spent my time working instead durring the summer."

Brendon carried me out to the garage where his car was parked. I'm guessing an omega moved it in after there was room opened up. He sat me down in the passenger's seat. I think he was carrying me to get me off my leg. It was still hard to walk on.

When we arrived back home I insisted on walking alone this time. He was right there holding my hand. Something must've convinced him to be this protective over my condition because he wasn't like this earlier. He had given me more space- this was starting to become too much. But, it was kinda cute. I never had someone care for me so much. We met everyone in the manor's recieving room. It was basically a clasic family telivision room now. Nena, Niall, Lilith and the baby, My father Calix, and My mother were already here. Malakai walked in from behind us with earphones in his ears as he gave me an exhausted smile. He walked over to Lilith to get a better look at the one year old toddler in her lap.

"So! This must be baby Lowell," Mal said sweetly as he took the toddler from Lilith. It's been awhile since I've seen Lilith but she was basically always here when I was younger. The two were such best friends its no surprise they're soulmates. I should've guessed. Nena was playing chess with Lilith. The two sitting on the couch together. Mal took Lowell with him as he bounced him in the air. It was unexpected since I've never seen Mal so open. I didn't know he liked children. "You're so cute and handsome," Mal growled playfully to our nephew.

"Lilith this is Vivienne and Malakai, you remember them from when we were younger, right? They've been away at college," he explained. Of course she would have trouble remembering us. Niall didn't enjoy spending time with us as kids.

"Vivienne, you mean our new Luna?" Lilith asked in excitement and looked at us. "Hello Alpha," she said respectufully and bowed her head. Brendon raised his hand suddenly.

"No need for that, you're all family to me now. Call me Brendon," he insisted.

"I'll just be in the kitchen making the last few touches to the food," my mom told us as she held a huge smile on her lips. She walked off towards the kitchen then. I leaned in towards Brendon's ear. "Nena is the girl with blonde hair on the couch. She's my baby sister and Cole's twin. Lilith is Niall's mate, and you've met Mal," I told him as I tried to introduce him to catch him up on everyone's names. I hope I haven't been that rude this whole time. Nena takes after her mother. They're both blonde hair and blue eyed. Nena was small and skinny. She was tiny even as a wolf. She also didn't talk a whole lot. She must be close with Niall and Lilith. It was easy to make the connection with the way she's been acting around both of them. So much open and bolder then the last time I saw her. Cole was tiny figured like her but he had dark brown hair and blue eyes. Their eyes were the same color, a light pale blue. Cole takes after his uncle on his mother's side. It was hard to tell any of us was related excect for the blue eye connection.

Malakai was the only one to take after our father, with black raven hair. His jawline was remarkably close to his mother's own. I've only seen photos of her. Lowell my nephew, looks like his mother. They both had hazel eyes. Lilith was a brunett with hints of red in her hair. Niall on the other hand had our blue eye feature and dark brown hair, similar to father's hair. I almost suspect it's from his mother's side of the family. We all sat down together on the couches and my father got out some embarrasing photo albums to show Lilith and Brendon. A few pictures even had Lilith in it from when she was younger and would visit us.

I think I was the only one who inherited Fang's red hair. That's probably why he's been protecting me and trying to guide me. Mom came in with the news dinner was ready and we all sat the albums to the side.

"I can't believe how cute you were," Brendon teased me as we followed everyone into the dinning room. I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks. Mal snickered behind me and I looked over my shoulder to see he was still holding Lowell on his hip.

"Viv has always been so adorable," Mal said in a teasing tone. "She's always had the boys chasing her on the playgrounds."

"Shut up, Mal," I growled out. Brendon frowned and gave him a growl too. Mal smirked playfully at us before slipping past us to hand the toddler back to Lilith.

"Lilith, you can have this squirt back. My arms are tired," he complained. We all entered a good sized dinning room. Mom had sat the food out on the tables and placed plates and silverware out for everyone. Margaritas for the adults and tea for the underaged.

It was sort of awkward sitting around my family of strangers. But father's and Niall's voice about non stop work kept the table from going quiet. Mom and Nena talked about Innath's condition, he was getting better so I heard. Lilith placed her attention on Lowell, trying to get him to eat. Mal stayed so quiet I deducted it down to he was listening to music. My mom had cooked us a hespanic dish, encheladas. Probably because it was easy to make. Brendon didn't stay quiet for long as he picked up in Niall and my father's conversation.

"It's good to have you home," my mom said as she looked and me and Mal. Since Mal was sititng on the other side of me, I patted his leg to let him know to pay attention. "It feels like forever since we've sat at the same table and had a meal."

"Thanks mom," Mal said quickly and looked at his untouched plate. "This is really delicious." She gave a huge smile of relief to hear him say something. I nodded to her as I grabbed Brendon's hand under the table.

"Mom, I think I'll be moving into the pack house," I told her. "So, I'll need some help packing my things."

"Just say when," she said with a look of excitement on her face. "Oh~ I remember when Niall moved out. It was a big day for us all. You two should see the house they bought."

"You don't ever have to feel pressured to move out," my father said quickly. "There is enough room here. I told Niall this too but he insisted in having his own space with Lilith and little Lowell."

"Viv, you can't stay at home forever," Niall reminded me. "SO don't let them talk you into staying here." I laughed softly and nodded in agreement.

"I won't," I told him. "It'll be a good bonding experience if I move in sooner rather than later," I told them. Brendon nodded and smirked.

"I'll just make sure to make room for you if you'll let me know the move in date," he growled playfully.

"Is it true? You're pregnant?" Nena asked me shyly.

"Nena, mind your manners," my mom said and glared her down. It's funny my mom was the one who told us and I'm sure she's the one that let it slip around Nena. I nodded and blushed.

"Seems so," I whispered.

"Congratulations," Lilith said and sounded excited for me. "Maybe your baby can be friends with Lowell when they're older," she suggested.

"Maybe," I said to her awkwardly. They will be cousins... why wouldn't they be friends?
