Chereads / The Scarlet Luna / Chapter 15 - When I Woke Up

Chapter 15 - When I Woke Up

My head hurt as I opened my eyes slowly. I felt stiff. My throat was dry. But, I could smell I was home. It was such a funny thing to remember. I still had a blury vision as I opened my eyes to my bedroom. They must've moved me here once I started recovering. I woke up alone. My leg was heavy and stiff- making me realize it was still in a cast. I glanced over at my nightstand to see my phone on charge. I know it was possible I'd wake up alone... but I still felt sad from it. I know they were all off doing their own things for the pack... but it still hurt. I sort of felt unimportant.

I threw the covers off me to look at the damage. I wiggled my toes as I looked down at them. I felt a little light headed from moving but I shook it off. Looks like I can chance it and get up. My toes were wiggling on my broken side. I grabbed my phone to check the date and my jaw dropped. One week. It's been a whole week! I almost gasped in shock. No- No way... I've been gone for a full week!? It only felt like a day on the other side. I glanced around my room to see flower arrangments and get-well cards. Looks like the pack's been giving them to me. I mean... I am the next unnanounced Luna of this pack. I dialled the first number that I could think of. Malakai.

I listened to it ring a few times, worry written all over my face.

Please pick up....

Please...

The phone turned over to voicemail and I felt tears rush to my face. I trembled as I thought about what I'd been through. He died.. It's all my fault! No! I REFUSE TO BELIEVE I LOST MY BROTHER! I picked up my leg and made my way into my first step off the bed. After I got use to the weight on my leg I started for the door. I noticed someone had dressed me in one of my mother's nightgowns. It was probably easier to put on me then my own clothes. I walked out into the hall and smelled the air- listening to the quiet house. I looked around before taking a deep breath. Mal's bedroom is on the other side of the house. I can do this.

'BLAIR!' I heard Arwen growl in a warning tone before breaking into a howl. 'GET OFF YOUR LEG!' She snarled. I had to grab onto the wall as I trembled from her warning tone. 'GET BACK IN THAT BED OR SO HELP ME,' She warned with a river of concern running through her voice. I felt panic rising in me as I looked around. I haven't heard her voice in what felt like... forever.

"Arwen?" I asked in relief.

'Blair,' she whined. 'Please get off your leg. It's still healing.'

"Arwen," I cried out softly. "Is- is Mal dead?" I asked softly.

'No, please get back in bed,' she begged. I let out a sigh of relief.

"Where is everyone? Where's Mal?" I asked and looked down the hall.

Has Arwen been watching over everyone while waiting on me to come home?

"He's still recovering at the pack house. He woke up before you, don't worry. Everyone doesn't understand why you were still sleeping. Alpha Fang told them you might be with the moon goddess or on an important journey she sent you on. So they were convinced to let you go home and rest in your bed.'

I sighed out in relief and turned around, going back into the bedroom. I could feel my body tremble in pain from the walk over. I collapsed as soon as I was close enough, my body giving up. I felt my head hit th soft pillows as I curled back up under the covers. All I can do now is recover.

"Arwen, how much longer until I'm healed?" I asked softly.

'Your mother said you can take the cast off. She just left it on incase you woke up without her or someone else being around. She wants you to take it easy on your leg.'

I sighed in irritation. Of course she would. I picked my phone back up, not realizing I left it on my bed. I looked at the contacts on my phone before sighing as my eyes landed on Alpha Brendon's name. I decided to call him, waiting for him to answer my call.

"Blair!" Alpha Brendon shouted as he answered. He sounded relieved. "Thank the moon you're awake. I've been so worried."

"Yeah, I saw I was asleep for a week," I told him. My voice sounded stiff. "Where are you right now?" I asked curiously. What have I missed since I've been gone?

"Eating lunch at the pack house and looking at a pile of work on my desk," he told me and groaned. "I really need a beta," he chuckled out. "This work keeps piling up on me."

"You haven't appointed a beta?" I growled in concern.

"The thought hasn't passed my mind since I've already gone through two since I've been Alpha."

"Luna is going to be scolding you in your dreams," I mumbled playfully and smiled.

He laughed which made me laugh. I couldn't believe I had been carrying on such a small conversation with him. I could hear the amusement in his voice as he spoke, "I'm coming over right now. I'll help you out of that cast and into some nice change of clothes and even help you take a bath. Your mother told me you could take it off whenever you wake up." I nodded as I listened to him. I felt happy for once as I got excited to see him.

"Okay, I'll be waiting," I told him softly.

We said a quick goodbye as he hung up on me. I think he was just ready to be here as soon as possible. I rolled over onto my back and sat the pillows up comfortably against the headboard before sighing. Why do I already feel like I've missed so much since I've been asleep? And, with that spritual run I took... I have a whole lot to tell Brendon. Like how- Emmett-

'Arwen,' I thought to myself. I was waiting for her to respond back.

'Yes?'

'Emmett- I saw him while on my run on the otherside.'

'You were there with them?'

'Yes, he traded our secrets for immortality. I watched Lamia herself turn him into a vampire. How am I going to tell Alpha Brendon? Cole is now trapped there all alone... My brothers are coming home to report it.'

'That's a lot to take in at once. I can't believe him...'

'It's them now. They've marked eachother,' I felt sad as I thought it to her.

'It doesn't matter. We know this and Alpha Fang can help us when they come. They don't know he's here to help.'

Alpha Fang!

I sat back up eagerly and looked at the window. I didn't ask Brendon anything about him. I mean... I didn't ask for Mal either... but I'm sure he'll answer all my questions when he gets here. That's probably what he's planning to do, tell me in person.

I decided the best thing to do was put on a movie and wait for my knight in shinning armor to get here.I put on one of the many rom-coms I had on VHS and watched it. By the time it was almost over, I heard footsteps coming down the hall. My heart lept as Alpha Brendon opened the door and came inside. He was carrying a dozen rosses and some hersey's chocolate candy bars. He smiled as he saw me. I hit pause on the TV and gave him a happy smile as he brought me the items and held them out.

"T-thank you," I blushed as I said it. No wonder it took him a minute to get here. He leaned in suddenly and stole a kiss from me. I gasped in delight and leaned into the kiss. My heart raced in happiness. This time, I won't let him race off from me once I tell him something! He'll stay here... I felt him trailing kisses down my jawline and towards my neck. I gasped in surprise and leaned back as it tickled. He only growled and came with me. As his lips crashed into my neck, it was unexpected. He didn't kiss this time. Instead he bit down into my neck hard. I cried out in pain as I squirmed under him. OH LUNA! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS ALPHA!? I felt him grab my arms as he crawled ontop of me. I let the flowers go and chocolate in defeat. There's no way I could run from this anyway, I have twenty pounds on my ankle! I mean... it might not weight that much... but still!

"What is wrong with you?" I growled out as he pulled back with blood on his lips. He seemed overjoyed as he licked them clean. It dawned on me as I thought back to what happened between Emmett and Cole. I gasped as I looked him over. "Without asking me?" I mumbled.

"I'm sorry Luna Blair," he whispered as he touched my cheek. "I have some news for you," he whispered to me.

"What news?" I asked and felt my heart flutter. What could I possibly be missing now? Brendon sat across from me on the bed. We had changed positions as he gestured for me to be more confortable for what he had to say. I was still in shock. My neck throbbed in pain from where he had just bit into it. He took my hand in his before looking me in the eyes.

"You're a mommy," he told me. I felt utter confusion as he said that. He cleared his throat awkwardly. "I mean, you will be. You're pregnant," he told me.

"That's not possible," I told him quickly.

"Yes, it is. We had sex," he told me and chuckled. "That's what happens when you don't use protection."

"No, what I mean is, it's too early," I told him and giggled. "It hasn't been long enough for us to know for sure."

"Yes... It has." He raised an eyebrow at me. But I was giving him the same look.

"Alpha Brendon it's only been a week and like... two days," I scoffed out.

"And I'm telling you, its been long enough," he assured me. I gave him a confused look. He only laughed at my troubled expression. "Alphas are very fertile," he told me. "And you were under the right circumstances. Your mother confirmed the fertilization herself. You even smell different, Blair."

'A-Arwen is he telling the truth?' I wondered in alarm. I felt my breath catch as I looked down at my stomach.

'Werewolves have a higher fertilization chance then humans.' I heard her tell me in excitement. 'So, I think he's telling the truth. With these new technologies nowadays I'm sure it's even easier to tell. Most pregnacies last anywhere between five to nine months for a mother wolf.'

"I-I'm going to be the mother of this pack's future alpha," I whispered in amazement. I mean... I didn't realize how sudden this all was. Alpha Brendon grabbed my hand and nodded as he watched me taking it all in.

"You're Luna now," he told me as he leaned in and stole a kiss. "So, I want you to move into the pack house," he told me sternly. I blushed but nodded to his voice. I can't believe... it. It just didn't feel real to me. I was completely unprepared for that kind of news. It's not like I don't want the baby... If I didn't want it I would have prevented it. It's just a big surprise right now. I still have to tell him what I saw on my journey and we have plently more to talk about. "We can make an official announcement when you're ready. But, in the meantime I'd like to ask you what you think about me making your brother Niall into the next beta," he told me. He was already changing subjects. But, I had the feeling he did this because he wanted to relief some stress showing on my face.

"Niall?" I asked quickly. I mean... he is an alpha's decendent so he would be fit for a beta position easily. "He's a good choice," I told him. I shrugged since I couldn't exactly say I cared about it. He wasn't someone I knew much about. But my father seemed impressed by him when I was growing up. Brendon nodded and gave me a charming smile.

"Then that's settled, he'll be announced as well to be the next beta," he decided. "I'll have to of course ask him if he wants the position." Brendon was so thoughtful~ I nodded along to his words in slight surprise he would first ask my brother. I paused as I remembered I have to tell him what I saw.

"Oh, Brendon," I gasped out. "Before I forget... I went on a run while asleep. I went on a journey outside of the moon goddess' forest and outside of our pack's territory. I found myself spying on my brothers. Cal and Innath are coming home to deliever some news. I was there- in my spirit form. He gave up our secrets to Lamia for immortality... Emmett did. He betrayed us and the two- Cole and him are marked mates. Lamia is going to know all our dirty secrets." I told him shakily. "Lamia took his mortality in the middle of a crowded plaza. Vampires were everywhere and in the distance I saw a dark castle. They're on their way home now to tell us."

Brendon clenched his jaw as the room got cold. He looked upset and betrayed at the same time. Of course he would, I'm sure he cared for Emmett before... I shook my head and took his hand. "Brendon, they don't know about Alpha Fang," I told him. "So, there is hope on our side."

"Alpha Fang told us the rogue was here to spy on us from Lamia. He thinks there might be more traitors in the pack willing to sell us out for a right price. He's informed me he plans on sniffing them out. He thinks the rogue came to talk to one but caught your scent and got distracted." I nodded as I agreed on what Alpha Fang thought.

"We better prepare for your brothers," he muttered wisely. "Come on," he whispered. He stood up and offered me a hand up. He then laughed as he remembered I had a burden to take care of first- the one on my leg.
