"Why are you silent? What exactly happened with her?"
Paul's hands trembled on the stearing, he gulped down his saliva as he thanked god that he was not driving now.
Andrew became speechless. He did not have to react so serious, did he? Or his assumption was right? He had something for that girl? But how can that be!
"I think I asked something." Steven's voice became even more frosty, making Paul broke into cold sweat.
"Umm Second Brother" Andrew gulped his saliva as Steven seemed to be on verge of loosing his patience anytime.
"She testified for the waitress who helped to frame her. She even reasoned with the detectives and presented something to prove her innocence." He simply thought that girl was too silly. He risked so much to hack into a system so secretive and manage someone to tip off the Roy's with the clip, yet she just testified for one of the culprits who had plotted against her. He started go grumble on his own.
"Clearly it was a lie. If not then why was that waitress silent all the time? Why did she not go to Mr. Roy after that Maxy Carter offered something like that to her. She is so silly and inexperienced. How would she survive in this society..."
Steven paid no more attention to Andrew's nonstop rumblings. He laid his head again to the backrest of the car seat as he close his eyes again.
Andrew seemed to notice his nonchalant attitude after a while. He looked at him for a while then shook his head.
'And here I thought Second Brother had forgotten her! What was I dreaming about! How could he ever forget someone so dear to him that he even risked his life to protect for a girl just appeared.'
Andrew let out a sigh as he thought this Second Brother of him was really pitiful. He even sacrificed his eyesight for someone who did not look at him back, abandoned him for her career.
'If only he did not jump in front of her that day...'
Andrew felt his mood was turning into a bitter one. He ordered Paul to let them drive to the Green Gate Villa.
As the car started moving silently, Steven's eyelids opened. He shot his lost, blank gaze towards the darkness of the night sky. Sudden gloominess filled his mind as the thought of her forgiving the waitress.
'So you still chose to forgive her. If it's like this, then let it be.'
'You are still the same Mantisha. You still forgave the one who plotted against you, because she was a victim of the situation.'
'If you were to know what did I do to you, what were happened between us, would you forgive me too?'
'Would I be able to stop the things going to happen with you?'
'Would you forgive that bast*rd too?'
The next morning, in Roy Residence,
"Good morning Uncle, hey Mom." Mantisha's buoyant voice came from the door as she stepped in the room.
"You brat, you dare to greet us here, where were your senses when you decided to testify for that waitress." Sylvia scolded her, clearly displeased.
"Yo Mom, she is the one who saved me first. I had to return her favour. I have already told you."
"Alright alright, let's forget that, come and eat now. Your breakfast is becoming cold." By interrupting her words, Adi seemed to call her for having her breakfast, but actually all of them knew that he saved her from her mother's scoldings.
Mantisha stuck out her tongue as she made a weird face and looked at her mother, then ran towards the table.
"You are spoiling her."
"I am more than willing to do so."
Sylvia sneered with annoyance at Adi's words but still, she would not deny that she was moved. She did not expect him to be this loving for her daughter, she only expected him to be nice and show a little care time time. But to her surprise, he acted like a genuine father to her daughter, which Mantisha never received from Danish. She was happy to see them acting playful and supportive to each other.
"Have you had a good night's sleep?" Adi asked with a concerned voice as he looked at her dark circles. Come to think of it she always had those, atleast from the time he had seen her.
Mantisha coughed a little as she tried to hide her visible embarrassment. Okay, she admitted that she was not having a good sleep for a long time, and she was willing to have one atleast. But she never got one, especially after coming in country A to study. Whenever Sylvia asked her, she always showed excuses about her studies. But today Adi had cought her off guard.
"Ahh... Um... Yes." She bit her tongue as she thought of lying. She did not want to lie to them, especially to Sylvia. But what could she do today, Sylvia knows that yesterday, she did not study at all.
"As if, can't you see her panda eyes?" Sylvia retored again.
"I wish make up remover could remove these too." Mantisha mindlessly touched her eyes, she really wished these dark circles to be gone. Not that she mind a lot about it, but it could save her from a lot of questioning and atleast her mom wouldn't worry too.
"Alright alright, you came back at the middle of the night. We know that you didn't have to sleep too much. But after yesterday's haste, did you need to get up now? You can always sleep a little longer you know." Adi said with genuine concern.
"Then who would go the University and..."
"Mooom" Mantisha pretended to be angry as she said, "If you continue to scold me like this, I won't eat. You know I didn't get to eat much for yesterday's events, still you are... Hmmpphh." She puffed her cheeks as she looked back at Adi and winked.
Sylvia sighed, "I can see that you know."
Adi finally laughed. "Okay, you definitely need to study hard but no need to take it so seriously that you lost your sleep for so long. Health comes first. Got it?"
"Yeah Uncle." Mantisha nodded as she started munching her sandwich.
"I am going to work in two hours. Get ready after the breakfast. Let me drop you off today. And noo..." Adi shook his hands as he saw Mantisha getting all agitated, she was definitely going to say something to stop him. So he interrupted her,
"I won't buy any excuses or take 'no' as an answer today. Got it?" Then he looked at her straight and told with determination, "Let's go."
