Chereads / My Last Chance (The last miracle) / Chapter 20 - My new life 4

Chapter 20 - My new life 4

A few weeks passed since I came to the Corttes mansion and had no desire to leave the room. After that dream, it seems as if someone is out there watching my every move. I don't feel comfortable in here either, but it's better than out there I guess.

At first, Nasya always came to talk to me and also addressed me as the "young Rapha" or "little Rapha" which made me feel the difference between me and other humans, but also a bit of childish relief.

One day she didn't come, and after that day she began to come more and more rarely to meet me. Maybe it's the stage when the new toy is getting boring, or there are other things to do considering the life's an aristocratic girl has.

Having nothing to do all day, the only thing that could distract me from my dreams and loneliness was reading a book on the window sill. When Nasya came to my room with some books in her hands, I was surprised that I could read the language of this world.

Then I remembered that from the beginning I could understand and talk fluently with the children locked in the hut near the black forest, so since then I have been able to read and write without any problems.

What else can I do that I don't know yet?

In front of me, I had a really beautiful view in relaxing moments, but if you concentrated more then the headache starts.

A large garden decorated with colorful flowers of all kinds, another sign of the father's love for his daughter.

On one side I could see tulips, on the other violets, roses, carnations, etc.

They looked beautiful, but it was also clear that they were not in the right order. The flowers in some places were mixed with each other, the flowers don't give the right beauty if you place them randomly in the garden without any initial plan. Some of them dry out faster than others, and when they start to wither, the garden will look like a catastrophe against nature.

If I had a place to go it would be there, and at least arrange some of the flowers by placing them in the right order. But I will need approval from the Marquis or just Nasya as a start.

"My lady, isn't it a beautiful day outside, would you like to go out for a walk?"

In the early days when Nasya decided to come less frequently to meet me, she gave me two maids to keep me busy with various activities for aristocratic girls, such as embroidery and learning how to serve tea, but they didn't catch my eye, because they were boring. I prefer to spend time reading and enjoying nature outside these railings rather than spending my day on things as small as these things.

But even though my tastes were different from the others and could be said to fit in with those of a boy, the maids didn't get bored and became interested in my hobbies and eventually showed interest in them.

Annie and Amira, both had only a small role in the story mostly not mentioned at all because they had no influence, and also Nasya didn't have interest in them. At first, our meeting was awkward and they didn't know what to do and what to offer me, but I felt a kind of sympathy for them, because I, like them, was a character who had not much value in Nasya's story.

Annie was a fourteen-year-old girl with a simple appearance, a round childish face full of freckled, yellow hair and yellow eyes. She is short and so energetic, which makes her more enjoyable as a human being.

She only has a father and he is a stray seller, he travels from one place to another to collect items and sells them at stalls, so she tells me a lot about the places she and her father have visited before, about their culture and places that leave a good impression.

She talks so much about them and with so much passion that I sometimes miss the whole thing, but I still keep hearing her seeing how happy she is when she tells me those stories, that I have no choice but to not spoil the moment.

While Amira is twelve years old, she has dark red hair and her eyes are black and sharp. She is younger than Annie but looks bigger because she always keeps a serious face, sometimes it looks like she doesn't have a soul.

And for this I don't blame her, she is an orphan and that at a young age she started working as a maid. Her first job was for a poor aristocrat in the countryside who often abused his employees. Amira and the other girls were always in danger when he came drunk at night and asked for a random maid to please him in his chamber.

Fortunately, she left without giving up her innocence and came to the north of the capital where this residence was located.

She likes stories with romances and princesses locked in a tower under the protection of a dragon, so we both spend time together reading and sharing ideas from favorite books when Annie is busy embroidering. At first, she wanted to keep her knowledge a secret, because not everyone in this kingdom can read and write, only aristocrats have that privilege, but Amira showed me that even here any person who has the will and desire can achieve what they want.

It is really a beautiful day outside, it isn't good to stay inside all the time because I will start talking to myself, right Miko? What are you doing now, are you okay being alone, without Mr. Oscar or me?

I'm sorry I couldn't stay with you a little longer. If what had happened had not happened, I would have stayed with him a little longer, and I would probably never have learned that this world is in fact a world inside a novel.

When I think about it, I can't say for sure how my life would go. I had no reference, not even a plan. Everyone can say that if they had been in the same situation as me they would have strived for a better life and pursued their own happiness.

I don't know what would make me happy in those moments.

Nothing! I was always afraid that I would be found out by Miko and I couldn't fully enjoy the time with him. I always remembered Mr. Oscar's words that I should keep my secret carefully and don't show it to anyone. Maybe that made me doubt Miko more than I should and distanced myself from him from the beginning.

Miko!

'It means death'

What did you want to do? I know you didn't want to kill me but it really hurts. It was enough to just ask me, as a friend or maybe as a condition to continue living together. I would have understood you anyway.

It is useless to think about the fears and regrets of the past, they will only cause pain for as long as you remember, it is better to let them go and think about what will come next. My life here has just begun and it is not clear what role I will play in this story.

So far everything has been calm, but it isn't known when the storm will appear and how events will take place.

It's better to wait and watch as a spectator for now, I hope the knowledge of the novel will help me face the difficulties on this path they choose without me knowing.
