We went into the Valley of the Kings. It was amazingly nice. Raine got excited. "This place is marvelous. But where is the tomb of King Tutankhamen?" she asked. "We'll find it eventually," Jade said to Raine. Jade was right, we DID find it. When we found it, Raine started talking about how ancient ruins make her all excited and amazed. She grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me into King Tutankhamen's tomb. "Uh, is she okay?" Luke asked Genis. "She's fine. She's just in her 'ruin mode'. She gets like that every time she sees a ruin," Genis said. "Even as a teacher" Lloyd said. "Uh, Professor Sage. Be careful," Colette said. "Interesting, I bet they call Raine a 'professor' because she must have been a science teacher," Jade said, smiling. "You know what? I bet she'd make a terrible ancient history teacher because she'd be in 'ruin mode' all the time," Tenebrae laughed. Raine was too busy babbling about what the wall paintings might actually represent. "Excuse me. Can you please turn me loose?" I asked Raine politely. She happily turned me loose then went on babbling and hugging the walls. Pretty soon, we heard Natalia shriek and that silenced Raine. "Guy, there's a beetle on your back!" Natalia hollered. Guy tried to look behind and then felt something move on his back as if it were a huge bug tangled up in the threads of his vest. He freaked out. "Get it off! Get it off! Get it off!" He cried quickly with surprise. He said this as if whatever's attacking him. "Duck," I cried, coming over to him. "Now hold still," I said. Guy did what I told him to do. I gently pulled a scarab beetle off of his back and put it on my arm since I'm wearing fishnet gloves. "Oh, it's just a cute little scarab beetle, Guy. It might not be too harmful," I said. Then Guy got up and he and Natalia saw the scarab crawling down my arm. "Cute?! Not in my opinion," Natalia said in disgust. Then the scarab flew off of my arm and out into the entrance. "Bye-bye. Little beetle," Mieu smiled. "Now where was I? Oh yeah, back to figuring out what the tomb paintings mean," Raine said, going back to talking about the nicely painted walls. Then I started looking around until I felt something funny on my foot. I looked down and saw a scorpion on my foot! I freaked out, fell on my side and shook the scorpion off. The scorpion went flying off of my foot, landed on the ground and stinger and died. The scorpion was impaled by its own stinger. Then every one looked at me like I was crazy. "Uh, oy?" I said. I did a nervous chuckle. "Uh, guys. Did you know that scorpions were affected by their own venomous sting?" I asked everyone. Ion, Genis, and Anise were surprised and they looked at the dead scorpion. Then Raine went back to talking. I was looking around again until I saw Colette. I watched her take a few steps until she tripped over and landed face first. Her face landed on a hidden floor panel. That triggered something. Torches lighted themselves, lighting up the tomb. Then a door opened. "What's that?" Raine asked with excitement. "That must be the burial chamber," I said. Then she grabbed me by the wrist and dragged me in. "Phew. I thought that might summon a monster or something," Ryo sighed with relief. Raine and I stopped in our tracks when we saw King Tutankhamen's spirit appear in the middle of the burial chamber. Raine turned me loose and I slowly came forth. "Kaede, you have an excellent party. May your journey begin. The first treasure is my lapis cup. It's made from precious Lapis Lazuli. It also has a script that says 'may the gods watch over you in the Sun God's boat and protect you in the Afterlife.' It's written in hieroglyphics. It shall be found in the Great Sphinx. I wish you all good luck," King Tutankhamen said. Then he faded away. Raine got excited about going to the Great Sphinx then wondered what it was. I told her that it's an ancient Egyptian building and statue of a legendary and mythical creature that has the head of a human and the body of a lion. We went back to the Albiore II to tell Noelle where we needed to go. The Great Sphinx is currently located in Giza, which is right across the Nile River from Cairo.
