We were at the Great Sphinx. Raine got into her 'ruin mode' again. I could possibly tell because she was quite happy to see the Great Sphinx. I was happy to see something so legendary. Raine hugged one of the toes on its gigantic paws. Very soon, the eyes of the Great Sphinx began to glow. "Welcome, mortals. I am the Great Sphinx of Giza," said the Great Sphinx. That surprised Raine and she backed away right next to me. "It…talked," Raine stuttered. "What are you doing here?" the Great Sphinx asked my party. "We're looking for the treasures of King Tutankhamen. We're starting with his Lapis Lazuli cup, which is somewhere inside of you. Please let us in," I said as politely as I could. "As your wish, it shall be granted. Be careful, mortals. There are dangers inside of me," said the Great Sphinx, opening its door. "I liked how polite you were, Kaede," Natalia said, smiling. "Yes," Jade agreed. "Thanks," I said, feeling proud of myself. We went into the Great Sphinx. "Wow, it sure is dusty in here," Anise said. "There's no time for complaints," I cried. I soon saw Raine trying to figure out a painting. "What's this ancient writing?" Raine asked, pointing at the hieroglyphs. "Those are hieroglyphs. Also known as the ancient Egyptian writing," I said. I looked at the hieroglyphs on the wall. "Ryo, can you read hieroglyphs?" I asked. "Yes. Hieroglyphs are what we write in Zalula," said Ryo. He quickly skimmed through the hieroglyphs. "There's a myth on there," he said. I soon saw wall paintings of the goddess Isis and the god-king Osiris. "Hey. That must be the myth of Isis and Osiris," I cried. "It is," Ryo smiled, knowing that I was correct. "I know that myth," I explained. "Me, too," Ryo smiled. "Enough chit-chat. I would LOVE to hear that myth," Raine said. "The sky goddess Nut had 4 children. 2 boys and 2 girls. They all grew up into men and women. Their names were Isis, Osiris, Nephthys, and Seth. Osiris married Isis and Seth married Nephthys. I assumed that Osiris was the very first king of ancient Egypt had he actually had a son named Horus. Seth was jealous of his brother so he decided to come up with a plan to kill the king. One night, Seth threw a party for the king and his prize was a sarcophagus. Only the great king Osiris could fit in there. When the king got in the coffin, Seth slammed him inside of there and threw it in the Nile River. The coffin floated to Byblos. Then the coffin got stuck inside of a tamarisk tree. The queen of Byblos ordered the tree to be cut down into a pillar for he home. Isis went on the search for her missing husband and his coffin and had to temporarily give her son to another goddess for her to take care of. When the queen of Byblos saw the tamarisk tree, she ordered her servants to cut it down and turn it into a pillar for her home. Isis met the queen. Isis became sad because she missed her son. The queen said she had a son, too. He was sick and in his infancy. Isis healed him and the queen was starting to get curious about how the great goddess healed him. The queen asked 3 of her servants. They said that Isis locks the door, starts a fire, and they hear a mournful song of a swallow bird. One night, the queen snuck up and hid in the room. Isis did her ritual of healing. She put the sick infant in the fire, turned into a swallow, and flew around a pillar. The queen was shocked to see her infant child in the flames. She grabbed him out of the fire and Isis had to reveal herself as an Egyptian goddess. In the morning, the king of Byblos returned. He was very happy about how healthy his son is. Isis detected Osiris's coffin in one of the pillars and she was right when the pillar was chopped down. She returned to Egypt with the coffin and her son, which was now a child. She hid the coffin in the thicket. When Seth found it, he was furious. He tore up the body and threw them into the Nile River. When Isis found the pieces of Osiris with the help of Horus, Nephthys, and Anubis; Osiris was put back together and brought back to life. Horus grew up into a strong man and successfully avenged his father's death," Ryo said. I couldn't believe he told an entire myth. "What a mouthful," Genis said. "Why does he have green skin?" asked Guy, eyeing the wall painting of the great king Osiris. "King Osiris had green skin because of the myth. Weren't you paying attention?" I cried. "Of course," Guy said. Then we continued looking for the Lapis cup. Then Sheena saw a wall painting with children with locks of youth on it. "What's with the hairstyles?" She asked, looking at the wall painting. "Those are the locks of youth. This hairstyle appears mainly on young boys until they turn 12 years old," I said. "They do look peculiar," Tenebrae said. "I wish that I could have a lock of youth because I'm young and I'm a boy," Mieu cried. Then everyone looked at Mieu like he was crazy. I believe that Mieu was a boy but he had a high pitched voice. "You sound like a girl," Lloyd cried to Mieu. I imagined what Mieu would look like with a lock of youth. It would look adorably funny. We moved on. Ryo accidentally set off a fore trap. It scared everybody, including me. I actually jumped with surprise. "Hmm. That's strange. I didn't know that the ancients could possibly have traps like this," Jade said, pushing up his glasses. "Either it's magic of technology," Raine said. "It might be able to be disarmed," Genis said to Ion. "I doubt it," Ion said. "That trap could have given me a heart-attack. Kaede, are you all right?" Regal said to me. "Yeah," I said. Then the flames went out. "Look! The trap's calm," Marta cried. "Maybe we can cross it now," Anise said. "I'd be very careful because I'm ONE cautious girl," I said. "Safety first," Jade smiled. We all crossed the trap and Zelos was the only one who got burned. His butt caught on fire from the trap. He screamed and ran around. "Stop, drop, and roll!" Natalia cried to Zelos. But he didn't listen. Instead, he extinguished himself by jumping into a pool of water. "Ahhhh. This water feels SO VERY nice," he sighed with major relief. Is this water from the Nile River? I thought, asking myself. I started burning with curiosity from seeing how relieved and calm Zelos looked. He also looked a bit relaxed. Soon I got thirsty so I looked at the pool. It looked very nice, fresh, and clean. I tried to take a sip until Colette tripped and accidentally knocked me into the pool. Zelos wasn't kidding! The water DID feel good! "Kaede, I'm sorry," Colette cried to me after she got up. "Colette, it's okay," I said. Then I felt very good all of the sudden. "WOW! This is water from the Nile River! No wonder I feel so good," I cried. "So glad that you could join me," Zelos smiled. After Zelos said that, I got out of the pool and my thirst was quenched. "Are you okay?" Luke asked me. "Luke, I have never felt so much better in my life," I cried. Then Ryo took a sip after Zelos got out. Ryo was surprised. "WOW! Isn't this water awesome?!" Ryo cried to my party, feeling rejuvenated. "If this water's so nice then we could take it to Sybak or something," Emil suggested. Sheena agreed. Soon everyone got sips of the great and blessed Nile water from the pool, but Raine. She was getting impatient. "Shall we move on?" she said, tapping her foot with her arms folded. "Why don't you get a nice sip of this awesome Nile water," I suggested to Raine. "Yeah," Genis agreed. "I even feel stronger than ever," Presea said. Then Raine took a sip and was amazed. We even decided to put some of the water into an empty flask. We soon went back looking for the Lapis cup. We encountered stairs that go up. "Ugh… I hate stairs," I said. "Why do you hate stairs?" Tear asked me. "Well, I used to fall down to the stairs when I was a little girl. I even hurt my ankle on the stairs once," I said. We went up the stairs and saw a chest in a room on top of the stairs. I opened the stone chest and fished out a blue, wine glass-shaped cup and showed it to everyone. "That might be the cup," Presea said. Ryo came up to me and gave him the cup. There was a small papyrus scroll attached to the cup. Ryo read the scripture. "This IS the cup we were looking for," Ryo cried. Soon we heard Natalia scream. "A snake! A giant snake!" She shrieked. "Damn! That's one big honkin' cobra," I cried when I saw the huge cobra in front of her. I pulled out my knife and everyone followed suite. We fought the cobra until it was weak. It survived our battle and slithered towards Ion and towered him. Then he casted a spell, killed the snake, and dropped to his knees with exhaustion. "Fon master Ion," I cried, running up to him as Anise ran up with me. "Are you okay?" I asked Ion. "He's tired from using a Daathic arte," Anise said. "I've never heard of that. I didn't know that Ion could get tired from using that kind of magic either," Genis said. Raine offered to heal Ion, but he politely refused. Then King Tutankhamen spoke to me. "Kaede, you've finally got the cup," he said. That surprised Ryo. "What- who was that?" he cried. I told Ryo what my Divine Ring did, showing it to him. "My next treasure my statue of the goddess Hathor. It"s made from gold leaf. It's also located in the Great Wall of China near Beijing, China. Kaede, I want you and everyone else in your party to be careful there," King Tutankhamen said. "Your majesty, can we please stop at a hotel because I think it's getting late and Fon Master Ion's tired," I asked him politely. "Yes. You do look a bit tired and I suppose you could use some rest," King Tutankhamen said. When we got out of the Great Sphinx, the sky was orange from the sun setting. The Day was coming to an end. The sky goddess Nut must be ready to take the sun god out of the sky. (I think that might be right). Nut is one of the goddesses I worship (along with Hathor). We made it to an inn at Cairo. I got dressed into my pajamas. They were a red spaghetti-strap shirt, purple bracelets, a purple sweater, and some black pants. I took my night time medicine and we went to bed.
