The sun shines, the birds chirp, and someone is still snoring in her bed without any signs of stirring up awake anytime soon. Her sleep is so deep and might be dreamless that she doesn't hear someone entering the room with his spare key, and even when he approaches the bed, she is still snoring softly until he decides to shake her instead of kissing her pink lips, "good morning partner."
"Fi-ve more minutes… Let me snooze-"
He sighs that they are getting late for today's schedule, even though they never planned one, and he takes the comforter away from her, making her shiver a little before bundling up into a ball, "seriously?"
"I don't want to workkk~"
'Guess it's back to the first option.' He bends down to lean closer to her face, and before he can claim that lips of hers, she suddenly shouts once before using both of her hands to wave around, which did hit him in the process and he groans a little before she continues whining with her eyes closed, "who the fuck invented office work."
"What is she talking about? Lune!" He finally recovers from her punches and he asks, "aren't you an adventurer? You can't go on one without waking on time."
She seems to have heard the message 'finally', and she starts rubbing her eyes while trying to stay awake, "you're back. What time is it?"
"The sun rises for an hour already," he sighs when she is still dizzily looking at him, "do you want to pick your own requests? You can do that before having breakfast since some adventurers grab the requests they wanted very early."
"Let's do that. Give me some time to wash my face."
After they check out from the inn, they walk in silence towards the guild building, and while Chilve seems to be deep in thoughts about what happened last night, Lune is staring at the shops along the streets with awe, "I can get adventurer discount right? I wonder if I can get rare trinkets."
"I don't think so."
"What should we have for breakfast? Hey, do you want to have a huge piece of meat? You didn't touch the porridge yesterday," she finally sees him still frowning while not being too responsive to her questions, and she sighs a little before deciding to play a joke on him, "you know, I saw someone handsome last night passing by my room."
He just 'hmmm' at her sentence and she continues spinning her story, "I am tempted to invite him to my room for some fun, considering you were out and there's no one else to warm the bed with me."
When he finally stops walking, she knows he is finally taking this seriously and he asks, "what did you say?"
"I said, I wanted to invite the handsome stranger to my bed-" he quickly grabs her wrist and pulls her away from the bustling street, where they enter a dark alleyway and he puts both hands on the wall, caging her in, "you want some stranger in your bed huh?" And she shivers when she sees that his ocean blue eyes seem to be filled with some rage in it.
"I was just joking-"
"Do you know the legend of the moondrop?"
'Finally, is he going to talk about the soulmate thing to me after all these years?' Lune carefully finds the words and she starts, "yes. I only found out about it after my coming of age ceremony. Why didn't you tell me?"
"I never thought it would really never wilt. I was not a believer of such legends after all,"
He finally calms down and releases her, "then why do you make such jokes?"
"Because even if the legend might be true, you might not love me from the start."
"So do you want to incite my wrath just to see if I care?" He looks a little hurt, and this is the moment Lune realizes she messed up, "I-"
"If I don't even care, will I even put down the responsibilities I have on hand just to make sure you are alright in your travels?"
'Lune, you messed up your love life, again.' She sighs in regret and shakes her head, "I'm sorry, alright? You didn't look good earlier so I thought I wanted to give you a boost in the mood, but it seems your jealousy unexpectedly got into the equation."
The albino doesn't seem to be understanding some parts of her sentence, yet he lets her continue, "I like you, like a lot. I don't know if it's love yet, but if you leave, I will be devastated." and before she can walk away, hoping to get to the guild soon but he grabs her hand, "wait."
Lune sighs in exasperation and asks, "didn't you say we need to go get the requests fast?" and he pulls her into his embrace and hugs her tightly, "what are-"
"Stay like this for a bit. No more words."
She can smell the natural scent from his chest, smelling of woods and a mixture of the ocean, and she wonders where did he go that he has the scent of the sea. After a few moments in this position, she raises her arms and wraps it around him, making him jolt from the touch but soon he relaxes. 'She smells like rain and flora.' With his nose nuzzling near her neck, a little voice inside his head keeps telling him to claim her as his mate right here, right now, and he tries his best not to get tempted. He quickly releases her from the hug and he shakes his head, "shall we move on?"
"Yes. Are you feeling better?"
'Yes and no.' "I feel much better, thank you Lune," and they continue their walk in silence, hoping the turmoil in their hearts can rest aside for the time being.
