To be honest, Jane never thought something like this would happen, under her careful watch. She is sure that it was secured safely, and since this time the contents is a plant, regardless how rare it is, it will be useless to others that don't know how to use it properly. Thus, it makes it a useless item for most people, and yet it is still stolen while she was only away from it for about five minutes to make a toast for herself.
The requester of the flower moondrop is furious to find that he will be going back empty handed after being told of the news. He slams the counter, making Jane flinch at the loud sound, and he growls, "and after spending time to travel here all the way from my clinic, precious time and money wasted, and all I get is this piece of bad news?! Is this how you treat requesters that are willing to pay?"
She knows no matter what she said, it's still her own fault that this theft happened. Jane wonders if there's a hole right now to swallow her whole, so she can hide there for some time before facing all the insults from the hot-tempered physician. Not to mention she can't compensate him right now since the down payment is already paid to the one that fulfilled the request previously, who is Chilve. She can't really ask him to cough it out when he did bring the moondrop to her, right?
Jane just hopes that this incident will not decrease the number of requesters, since that's her main source of income. Hold on, maybe this is the perfect time to get other types of jobs instead of handling rowdy adventurers and requesters all the time. Should she try to become a florist? Hold on, she can't really differentiate too many types of flowers without flipping any references all the time. A baker? She knows how to eat, not baking or cooking, totally hopeless in the cooking department.
When the physician stops talking, she wonders what makes him stop and feels a little relieved when someone familiar approaches them, "is there anything wrong?"
"Kid, do something productive by not butting into someone else's business," Jane frowns at the comment and she murmurs, "he is not just a random kid. He was the one that brought over the moondrop for your request."
"Oh. Still, it's still missing. And that's your fault, Miss Jane."
Sensing some kind of tension building around the area, Chilve sighs and he takes out a pouch from his waist belt, "I don't need the down payment. Just, don't give Jane too much grieve on a theft that she can't foresee, is that alright mister?"
The physician takes the pouch out from Chilve's palm, almost snatching from how fast he does it, and he checks the content and tries to count, where Chilve gets impatient and he growls low, "you can do the counting later or elsewhere. If there's anything missing, then you can find me here."
"Hmph. Miss Jane, I will never come here to request anything next time. Farewell." Once he exits the guild doors, Jane is in tears and starts bowing to him, "thank you so much! I shouldn't have let you did that earlier, since it's your well deserved reward for getting the flower to us."
Chilve shakes his head and waves his hands, "it's fine," and he feels sorry when he sees how much worried Jane looks with her face all scrunched up, "I almost thought I need to quit this job since it's something I love. But when I realize there's nothing else I can do well, I just give up until you appear. Your next meal is in the house! My treat," without waiting for his reply, she pushes his back towards the barstools and sits him down, "what do you feel like eating? I can make a quick order in the kitchen right now."
"But-" he tries to protest but her face turns into something more serious, "if you don't listen to me right now, I will not let you take anymore requests, I insist."
When the food arrives, Chilve takes a few small bites and despite how good it smells, he doesn't have the appetite since he is the one responsible for the disappearance of the moondrop. He never thought he will be stealing it, and when he realized the chest can be easily picked without any magic seal for theft prevention, he was just speechless with how slack the guild can be when it comes to security. He takes a mental note to properly apologize to Jane later, but right now, he really needs to prove the legend of the moondrop to sate his curiousity. If the legend is really true, maybe that explains the turbelant feelings in his mind since his first meeting with Lune. But there's a lot to do, like how he must quickly train more so he can become the next alpha and frees his pack from his uncle.
Evening approaches and when he reaches the window of Lune's room, he knocks thrice, and when there's no answer or movement inside, he quietly picks the lock and enters the room once he succeeds. He makes a quick turn around to make sure there's not a single soul that sees him right now and he takes out the moondrop from his pouch, and carefully puts it on a desk that looks like Lune's own study desk. His eyes widen the moment he sees stacks of books that has the word werewolf on them, and he just chuckles at how cute the princess is to know more of his kind-
'Get a grip! She might just be curious so she can be more careful of me.' Shaking his head to shake off the thoughts, he quickly exits the room to avoid staying too long before getting found by the palace guards.
