Chapter 1 - Chapter I

Daisy Anne Serenity. 18 years old from the rather odd state of Nevada.

Alot of paranormal plagues this world that I've come to know. Creeping around every corner, stalking every yard, causing destruction revolving around humankind. The prey.

Would peace between humans and the paranormal be possible?

Ah- anyways- let me tell you my story. One of the rainbow after the storm.

First off, I'll begin with the day that changed it all. That sorrowful, fatal day.

"Brrrrriiinng! Brrrrrriiing! Brrrrrriiing!"

I had to give my alarm clock a good slap before it would stop.

I continued to sigh at the thought of going back to school. Slipping into my fluffy slippers, I shuffled down the hall and down the stairs to meet mom, who was smiling at me behind the kitchen counter.

"Hey honey" She smiled at me all cheerfully. I figured it was unusual, but she just must have been in a good mood that morning.

"Hey mom" I replied, smiling back at her, politely.

She just continued smiling. Even after I moved, she kept that same blank stare, eyes locked to the wall.

At that point I had been upstairs and had brushed my hair, bathed, and was ready to get up and go to the miserable place of learning, I just needed to fetch my backpack on the couch by the front door.

After I had walked back into the living room, I noticed mom, still standing there behind the kitchen bar, smiling.

I slowly picked my backpack up, and slung it on my back.

"Bye mom... I'm... going to school now", I said.

She just continued to stare off into space, smiling. Like she saw something that I couldn't see. I got the goosebumps just looking at her stare.

I looked back over to the door handle and grabbed to open it.

"There is no school today." Mom yelled.

I had nearly jumped out of my skin at the breaking of the silence.

Huh? Why would they just cancel it without a notice? Ah, well. I wouldn't question it. I had sleep on my mind.

Finished with the conversation, I put my backpack back on the couch and walked back to my room, mom still standing there.

Half-asleep and reaching for my rooms door handle, I hear her again.

"Come on!" She screamed, "The bus is here!"

I ran back down the stairs dazed and out the door to find the bus right in my face. It was here early.

"Daisy! Hey girl!" My friend in the back of the bus screamed at me through the open windows. I smirked and shook off.

I hopped onto the bus and walked back through the aisles. Looking over the heads of the people, they all gave me disgusted looks.

All familiar faces, especially Alice's face.

Alice had been my best friend since first grade, and we were inseparable!

"Hey girl! I need to talk to you about something! Come here!" Alice squealed. She wore a fake smile on her face.

I sat down next to her and asked her, "What?"

She rolled her eyes at me. "Don't act like you don't know. I know you've heard the rumors going around school"

"What? Oh. About the person that your boyfriend cheated on you with" I replied.

"Yeah. Atleast 20 people say they saw you with him. YOU DIRTY RAT!" She said, throwing fists at me. "I thought WE WERE BEST FRIENDS!"

"I DIDN'T TOUCH HIM! I SWEAR!" I yelled back, grabbing her wrists in the struggle.

I stood up quickly and fell backwards into the seat adjacent to her, but she lunged at me and grabbed my hair.

"Fight! Fight! Fight!" Another student yelled as he peeked over the seat. The younger teen that sat in front of us.

I tried to push Alice off of me but she wouldn't budge "YOU-" She yelled, throwing punches towards me.

Within seconds, nearly everybody on the bus was either back there, or looking back.

The bus hit its brakes with a great screech as the bus driver yelled.

"GIRLS! WHAT IS GOING ON BACK THERE!"

I was so stunned so I just slapped alice.

The bus driver busted into a sprint towards the back of the bus.

She then pulled alice off of me. "I know a couple guardians who's gonna be called as soon as we get to the school."

Alice continued to sit in the back of the bus but I was guided to the front of the bus where I would sit for the rest of the year.

As we got to the school, I tripped on my way to the bathroom, tearing up, and she just laughed at me.

"Backstabber!"

Backstabber. A backstabber? What made her turn against me for no reason like this? I looked up, embarassed, and tucked my short, black hair behind my ear.

My pin! My flower pin had fell out of my hair and was now on the floor!

"Here"

I looked up to find Miss Sherry holding her hand out with my pin in her palm.

"The principal needs you as well", She said in her calm, soft voice.

I nodded, wiping away my tears.

Getting up, I breathed in and back out to, fake a smile, and made my way to his office.

I knocked on the door and slowly opened it.

"Come in", Someone thundered from behind the door.

I had pushed the door all the way open now.

It was silence as we looked at each other awkwardly, my face all red.

"What happened? Oh, nevermind me. That's not the point. Daisy.. Your...parents. They have passed."

I froze and clenched my fist. I couldn't process everything happening at once and fell down to my knees.

Was this just a dream? I wish someone would wake me up from this nightmare.

I was escorted by the police to my house, where they told me to pack my belongings.

They also told me to avoid the scene in my parent's room. But like always, curiosity kills the cat. I snuck around and made my way there.

I wish I had avoided it, but it was too late.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM?!" I screamed. All I saw was the husk of their skin lying on the floor. Like they were snakes who had just freshly shed their skin. No bones. No blood.

The people in the room turned their attention away from the bodies to me. The police had left and these higher officials took over. How bad was it?

"Take her out of here!" One of them shouted, pointing at me, frantically.

I was shaking, unable to control myself. Like someone else was controlling my body, restricting my movements.

Someone behind me awnsered "I've got her." It was a deep, male voice.

I felt hands around my hips, but I still was unable to turn around, and suddenly, a sharp pain in my right arm. The room around me started spinning as I regained my ability to move. I tried to pull myself away from his grasp.

"We've got a fighter" The man behind me yelped. I could now clearly see his face. He was a younger man, about Mid-30's with facial hair and darker hair.

He tried to grab me again but I dodged him.

Another man, built like a bull came hurtling towards me. I blocked myself with an X formation of my arms. This was a great mistake however, because he had cuffed me then, making it impossible to free my arms.

The younger man rolled his eyes at me and gave me a wink as they pulled me out of the room.

"Ew" I thought to myself, getting goosebumps.

"It should start working soon. I dont know what made her break free. She wont remember a thing though when it does hit." I heard them talking in the room I had just exited as the bull like man escorted me downstairs.

Were they trying to erase my memory? Did they drug me? Do they realise it won't work on me?

So many questions..

But, before I knew it...

I was on a one way trip to Oregon to live with my aunt for the rest of my interesting life.
