It was the third day and the Royals of the Land of Mortals were getting ready to depart back to their kingdom.
The contract between the two Monarchs was forged and signed by the Queen of the Land of Saunders and the King of the Land of Mortals as the entire court became their witness.
Down the pedestal, standing in the middle of the courtyard, Ambrosia and the young Prince watched as their parents drafted out their future without taking in their words on that royal charter...a mere piece of paper to dictate their life in the coming years.
Ambrosia did not know what stopped her from not racing up to the pedestal and snatching the charter off from both the Monarchs to tear it apart into a million unrecognizable pieces...she did not know...she had no idea how come she remained static as if the imaginary hands from inside of the ground was holding onto both her ankles, prohibiting her from acting impulsively.
Damien could feel the heat radiating from the Princess, who was standing beside him. He could sense her anger, her rage, and her fury...her eyes turning red...but the entire courtyard acted as if everything was alright.
From amongst the royal nobles, he could see only Lavanya, noticing the wrath that Ambrosia was plotting inside of her head, just like him.
And for a moment, their eyes got interlocked but as the crowd mouthed 'Hail to the King and Queen!', they parted each other's eyes.
"We look forward to welcoming you back here when the Prince is of age!"
Celeste said, shaking the hands with King Delaware. The Queen was standing behind him, not too excited anymore about this arrangement.
She could not help but wonder if their fear of the future had made her agree to something that her son had not even given consent to...it was eating up her mind.
"We will be back soon, Queen...times pass by very soon. Till then you adore your daughter and the time that you both have together...we did not mean any rush but the situation is so demanding of us..."
The King remarked. Celeste nodded her head, in understanding. They called the both Prince and Princess up.
With slow steps, Ambrosia got to the position of standing beside her mother, whom she no more recognized as one anymore.
"We will see you then three years from today...I shall send my army in the fixed term as we had decided in every sixth month of the year to train alongside your army.
Queen Celeste, I give you my words to keep up sincerely and faithfully to the agreement that two kingdoms of ours have forged together. "
It was as if the King was reaffirming to the Vampire Queen his promise and faith fullness to keep up with the terms of the contracts.
He tilted his head to look at the princess, who had an expressionless face.
"Take care of yourself, Princess. The next time we meet, you will become my daughter-in-law, my only son's wife, and the future Queen of my land...I pray for your health and hope you stay away from any harm."
The King softly pat her head and Ambrosia closed her eyes for a blink of a moment.
"I shall look forward to you abiding by the terms of the contract, King...and in the meantime, I shall love and adore my daughter and train her to become the Princess of your land and in the future, the Queen of your land...I believe my daughter is very able and will learn the way of Mortals in no time.
In three years, I shall look up to this Prince to become the man worthy of my daughter...I pray for your long health and to be away from any harm, my prince! "
Celeste nudged their head of Damien. After exchanging their words of farewell, it was time for Delilah, being the Queen to the King. All eyes were upon her.
"I'm fine...I stand by the words of my King!"
She decided to not say anything. Her mind was already in a frenzied state. The fact that there could be no reverse of the actions that had happened in this court today, made her feel all too unwell.
Her husband could see that something was not alright with his wife, after their brief talk. She seemed to have become distant from him. Even went to the extent of saying that she stood by the words of her King rather than her husband as she used to address him before.
To the people, he was a King. To the other Monarchs, he was a King. But to her, he was her husband, even though she was one of his subjects...he was still her husband.
And that was a feeling, so precious and different, so special to him. He was upset that she chose to hurt him deliberately for acting only like a King, that he had always been.
Later, it was time for them to leave. Outside of the palace, each one of them mounted up on their horse, steadied by the horseman.
Celeste and the other royals stood by to bid them farewell. There was no sign of Ambrosia. Nobody looked after her either but only for the Prince who felt her absence.
"Searching for your Princess?"
Damien turned around to see, it was none other than Lavanya. She strode towards him.
"I thought I would bid her farewell personally...but looks like she wants nothing to do with me. "
Damien let out, with his shoulders down. Lavanya felt bad for him. He was not an arrogant prince. He was a very gentle mortal.
"Well, I think there is no need to say farewell to her because you would be meeting her sooner...three years will fly by in no time like the summer wind.
You can bid farewell to me instead. "
She proposed. He shook his head, denying it. She narrowed her eyebrows at him. She was only being kind to him.
"There is no need to do that either...I will be meeting you in no time...three years will fly by in no time like the summer wind."
He copied her words and the voice in the back called to him that it was time to leave. He parted his eyes from the raven-haired vampires.
"Goodbye, Prince!"
"Goodbye Lady vampires!"
He smiled at her. And so did she.
As she watched them ride away with their men, Lavanya could not help but feel the warmth in her heart as it beat faster and harder...it was not an everyday occurrence but even she knew that it was best to be ignored.
