Chereads / Lifeless: Rise of a Lifeless Lord / Chapter 13 - The Great Undead city

Chapter 13 - The Great Undead city

Pluto should stay and farm to upgrade his skill as much as possible, but the portal to Moribund is opening in the distance. It will stay that way for an hour. The best thing for him to do is enter the city and learn from the best. The academy will accept given his title. Running, Valania follows, flying beside him. Pluto will always keep her level lower and rank lower than his so that he can control her. The shape of his magic has a direct effect on her, giving her a complete personality. This is not unheard, just exceptionally uncommon. Even in-game talking, pets were highly valued.

"Where are we going?" Her whimsy is clear in the way she flies around without a care in the world. Since Pluto doesn't mind the view from below, he doesn't tell her to stop. Plus, he is pretty sure she is doing it on purpose. She is controlling her phasing so that for a second her naked body appears before she fades away and appears a second later. This is how most unlife 'breathe'

"We going to Moribund, the greatest undead city in the world." Pluto himself has invaded the undead several times. So he is familiar with the city when it is lit up with holy flames and under siege by humans. Undead are perfect for a simple task: mining, cleaning, etc. Most cities don't people to menial work, thinking it is beneath them.

"Why?" She spirals around him in front of him, flying backwards, not looking where they are going. Her curiosity is a good sign, it often means that she can take on complex tasks. Which means he won't have to wait until she is high level to abuse the connection.

"I need to get a weapon and a martial arts form. Will allow me to fight my enemies better." Pluto knows how important proper training is. With all dangers in the known worlds, it is critically important for him to defend himself. Magic can come later. A skeleton's greatest weakness is its weakness to blunt damage, but if he can rank up enough, he can change to a better type of unlife. The earliest he can switch types again is at rank three. When he became rank one, he became a skeleton to better fit in. If he knew he would get spectral armour, he would have stayed a dusk fiend, it has both magically and physical skills.

"How many enemies do we have?" She smiles oddly, as if she already knows. She flies ahead, not even letting him answer. The lesser undead spirits, zombies, and skeleton warriors are slowly making it there through the portal. Pluto takes a moment to accept that he has killing people is the only he will grow as an undead lord. The academy will become a sort of proving ground for his strategy to defeat his real enemies.

The portal hums with a menace common amongst undead constructions. Pluto walks into the eye of the abyss. In the game, it is said that all portals leading to the undead realm are the eyes of a single abyss monster. No one knows its name, not even Pluto. This is one lead he was never interested in chasing down, as it awarded no glory. Paladins strive on glory, be it from people or the church.

The portal opens up into a cemetery, where the spirits will undergo a process that should make them smarter. Lucky for Pluto, he doesn't need to eat copious amounts of random flesh to grow a brain. Most undead are ravenous, so they hurl themselves on the flesh. The cemetery is in the centre of the city. Moribund is absolutely massive. The biggest building is the temple of doom. Similar to the Temple of Apocalypse, it is a giant ziggurat surrounded by six soul obelisks that float around the ziggurat.

Many buildings here either float around or phase in and out. It is perfectly normal and makes Pluto feel at ease. The realm seems to welcome him. He feels stronger.

🎉Unlife Vigor - Adds to stamina!!!🎉

'Pepa! Is this some kind of joke? Undead don't need stamina. Give me a real bonus.' Pluto knows its not her fault. He knows that many types of undead enjoy vigour, vampires and draugers in particular. The world of the undead is ruthless, but Pluto can leverage his title to get to a particular teacher.

He moves about. Valania is flying around somewhere. He isn't too worried even someone tries to kill her. They will succeed in unsummoning her. Plus, like him, she is probably enjoying a realm meant for her. Valania is actually standing in front of a mirror. Pluto heads to the river Eath, it is a sea of lesser souls making their way to the beyond where souls can be reborn as the living.

Great vessels made of bone and sinew sail on the souls heading to other undead cities. The streets are wide and let even zombie lords walk freely without knocking into anyone else. The streets are, of course, made of the finest soul stone. To better facilitate the natural ley line. The city is built upon. This gives the city Moribund a limitless supply of magic.

They use the magic energy to construct many things like the flying pyramids fortresses of the royal lich families. Or even the hanging gardens where the undead kings hang like flowers. Necro tombs, vampire crypts, and what is probably Pluto's favourite structure from the undead world, a mausoleum.

The undead he is looking for is an undead warlord, who trained a Kletis. He makes his way like there to the Killing fields, a grand mausoleum made of blood iron. It is literally beating and dripping blood. As they sacrifice a thousand people to it every day just to keep the building functional. None of the guards stops here as even though they are level eighties all around. They are weakest ones here, serving a ceremonial role more than anything.

"Leave this place. You are not welcome here." It seems to Pluto as if the shadows are talking. Clearly, a shadow walker is here. Fortunately, his vision is perfect and he can just make out the outline of the Shadow walker. The silhouette of a giant, ears like Anubis and his guards. He says nothing. This is a test, after all. He looks at the Shadow Walker, tilting his head, following its movements. It dances around the room, trying to lose him.

When Kletis came here, he used a holy light to banish all the shadows. This was a cheat, but because the master believes in the letter of the oath he took. He still taught Kletis the most lethal art there is. Shadows twisted and contort around his form. He steps out into the blood light pool. He is, after all, a Draugr Death Lord.

His huge lumbering form shrinking as it absorbs the blood in the pool. A black and red knight appears in front of Pluto. Truly, an imposing figure behind is the weapon of the art he wishes to learn a bladed scythe. The bladed doesn't refer to the scythes cutting blade, but the handle that is a six-bladed shaft. It is strictly an undead weapon.

"Well, aren't you an interesting little fellow? What do want?" He realizes Pluto is no ordinary undead. A few can track him through the shadows. Pluto's title produces a magic symbol, A three-headed hound with two of its head as scythe prancing in a sea of red fiery skulls.

He takes a step a back, that is a holy symbol. That has appeared Pluto's armour. Every undead from Moribund to the lost city of the dead. Know the symbols of the horsemen. It is edged into their very spirit. Pluto wasn't sure it would work, so he is keeping his mouth shut. Better to say nothing and let the other party make assumptions.

Eventually, the master settles down, the arrival of horsemen. Even a rising horseman is a symbol of the significant possibility of a resurgence of the Dread Crusades. The master is already making plans for this young undead. The lich lords need to be put in their place. This peace has lasted too long and a return to true purpose is important. The master shows that he is willing to listen to a request by placing his weapon on the ground in front of him.

"Master, I wish to learn from you! OH, SHIT!!!!" Suddenly out of nowhere and scaring the bones clean out of his suit. Valania appears between him and the master. She is naked but her rear is facing the master while her front is facing Pluto.

The master flushes white for a second. Before Pluto forcibly unsummons her. The air is tense before the master breaks out into a rambunctious laugh. The whole mausoleum feels like a death shriek has escaped and the doors. Hundreds of souls observe as the master creates a blood seal.
