Creating a new unlife spirit is a challenge I never knew I needed. There are so many changes happening to her at a spiritual level. It is actually fascinating to watch. The way the link between our souls operates, maybe the most complex part. Thanks to the nature of my magic. Our souls act in tandem. Like the wheels of a car, I will need four of them and while it is possible to change them at any point, it will be expensive. Right now, the cost is prohibitive, barring me from lashing another spirit.
I know I have the capacity for more, but the process that is going on changes her a bit more than I expected. The girl is a spirit, but she is exhibiting a lot of physical ability. Just like her body, it is clearly spiritual, as she is literally a floating ghost. She is also more, the way she interacts with the world by walking around objects makes it clear. At least to me, she understands she is not fully spiritual. This is a trait usually found in poltergeists who are brutes on the battlefield.
We head back into the tall forest, a wooded battlefield. Where my foe a level twenty boar. Stands waiting for me. Of course, it is no ordinary boar. In this world, nothing is ordinary. The boar has the blessing of the forest. This gives it extra armour. I turn to my little growling War Wraith. She is excited, I can just tell.
She will only have a basic attack, lucky for me. It is the standard range, shot. Which should help me just fine. "You will attack from range, in a support role." I'm sure she does not know what anything I'm saying means, but the connection between us solves at least, she growls and moves back. I take that as her agreement with the plan.
❗Wild forest Boar - Common❗
Hp: 1000
Mp: 200
The boar is your standard 1 tonne, eight horns, six legs earth armoured monstrosity. I am choosing to fight in the forest because in an open field, it will run me over. Here at least I can use the natural terrain. The earth armour is like mud that has been baked on from it sunbathing. However, I am unlife which is only weak against holy, magic well and nature magic since that has a holy quality to it. Oh, and fairy magic, since they are pure entities. I slap myself for getting distracted. This stupid boar has me questioning myself. With the eight experience points I have, I'm close to levelling up. By killing it, I should get a few levels. It is just with my current attack power it is going to take a while, but it is what she wants.
I start with a series of long-range attacks. This is to test, that I can damage the monster and will give me an idea of how long it will take. The only reason I'm even letting her participate is that she can take her time and aim for weak spots. We all have them and she will do damage that way. Plus the boar only has front-facing armour as long as she focuses at the rear. I'm sure it will be possible to defeat the boar.
A streak of golden consuming light hits the boar on the side, losing a small slither of life. I can tell my 💠Death bolt💠 did the trick because it is coming for me. I wait for it to get closer, well into the tree line. Before sending another 💠Death Bolt💠, I moving backwards once I'm deep in the forest. The Boar unleashes its first skill; I let loose another 💠Death Bolt💠 before ducking rolling behind a tree. This is my basic strategy, a battle of attrition. Thanks to Pepa, I have unlimited stamina, so that is my advantage.
The boar is fairly stupid, but a creature so many levels above me. Is dangerous to my continued existence. Turning around isn't easy, I set off another 💠Death Bolt💠 the boar tries to use it Ramming skill. The ground pulse around it as it builds up its magic power. In the forest, though, the trees are like unbreakable walls. There are two ways to level up. One is by simply existing like trees.
This is why some trees become magical or gain special traits later in life. The one thing they all share is a high defence. Especially in wooded where nobody lives, the trees here are old and strong. The tusks on it head pulse green with power as the boar rampages towards me. 💠Death Bolt💠 I roll go behind the tree then 💠Teleport💠 to make sure I'm ten meters in another direction.
This combo will keep me in fighting shape and out of its range. The Boar, after hitting a tree that would not budge, looks around for me. Unfortunately, it didn't get damaged by its own skill. Before this battle, when I was hoping to be sly, I kited. One boar to the edge of the cliff and made it charge at me, only to teleport away at the last minute and watch fall to its death. I got no experience for that.
My damage can be overcome by a special skill it has, as I am whittling it down with my 💠Death Bolt💠 The problem occurs halfway into the fight about three hours, given it passive regen and the level difference this fight is painstakingly slow. This is also why I 💠Death Bolt💠 so much I am hoping to improve the skill. It is quite effective and with my 💠True Sight💠 one hundred percent on target. As long as I don't lose sight of the boar I can dodge, run behind a tree, zig zag my ass across the way and launch another 💠Death Bolt.💠
The Boar, angry and frustrated, uses all the skills available to it. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, as either the rampaging run, mud spike, or the savage stomp would hit. But I'm too fast to hit with linear skills like that. This forces it eventually after receiving another round of me dodging, zig-zagging and ducking behind a tree for cover, with a 💠Death Bolt💠 or two in retaliation.
Not getting hit forces it to think on its feet. Like before, the thing is combo it skills. Which isn't any more effective, it is locked into longer trajectories that put it further away from me. This means I only have to dodge and unleash a 💠Death Bolt.💠 My pace is critically important if I can attack every second. I can't maintain that. Even two hundred and something mana is not enough to fight a creature of this strength.
It then starts using forest blessing basically a random skill from the nature god for the baor in dire situations. Therefore, I grew frustrated before, the skill it has is armour enhancing. Leaf, bark and fallen tree create a mane around the front of the boar. It is big enough that I can't see directly behind it. This massive blind spot is what she will take advantage of.
Last time, thanks to true sight, I realised what it does to move all its armour to one part of the body. So even when I teleported to the side of the monster, the shield automatically moved to that side. But now there are two of use. I fire my 💠Death Bolt💠 at the armour mane. The damage barely registers, but given my high accuracy, I can abuse it a little and hit softer parts of the armour. This enrages the boar. Then it moans, But now I'm going all out, 💠Death Bolt 💠 may be weak, but the armour also prevents it from seeing her.
This leaves her free to do the most damage: a basic attack has two advantages, it cost very little and is fast, so even though it is probably only seven or eight damage. It penetrates every time, cutting into its flesh. Because all of its armour is focusing on preventing me from doing damage. I'm confident in keeping it facing me because of my 💠Dread💠 one of its effects besides allowing me to learn martial arts, is that it generates 1000% threat in a fight. This means it makes me the primary target every time.
I roll and tumble behind a tree as the armour mane spins cutting down everything in front of it. I run, ducking every branch, it is fully focused on me. Like most wraith, her basic is like a spiral of acidic death magic that pelts and urns the vulnerable side of the boar. I fire another 💠Death Bolt💠 no longer regarding my own mana, I go all out. 💠Death Bolt💠, then teleport ten meters away. Run around some trees dodge the rock, it shot through three trees. 💠Death Bolt!💠 While rolling clipping it barely doing any damage, but the thought was cool. I land by some shrubs and 💠Death Bolt💠, having to 💠Teleport💠, I instantly lose half my health. Even getting scratched is bad. I recover behind some tree, I'm good for four spells. After that, it will have to be close combat.
Or as I call it, suicide!
