Chereads / Pure Aim / Chapter 2 - Special Guest

Chapter 2 - Special Guest

There were seven ranks in the college but the last couldn't be counted as a rank. The one that couldn't be counted as a rank was "Professional"since "Professional" was a job and the pinnacle of the gaming scene, something all gamers aim for.

Li Xin pulled out a paper that listed the ranks and read them out loud, "S being the highest, A then B, C, D, and the lowest one is F."

Li Xin scratched his chin, "So if I derank, my rank will be the lowest which is F… I wonder how long it has been since I've been ranked this low."

When Li Xin was in his prime, he never deranked and always stayed at the top. That's why being this low ranked was new to him, but he dug himself this hole.

Li Xin's thoughts dissipated when he entered the classroom. Once he entered, all eyes were on him. Students all looked at him in an unfriendly way. Li Xin could clearly tell they were all cursing him in their minds. He quickly bowed to the teacher and headed towards his seat which was located at the very back of the class.

Li Xin was sure his seat was going to start growing cobwebs due to how lonely and empty it always is. If not for him always making the seat more lively, he was sure the seat would've withered away already.

The teacher started talking again as if he didn't enter the classroom. That wasn't surprising since he was basically the most known in this school yet the least known in this school. If that made sense.

Li Xin didn't bother to pay attention to the lesson, after all, the teacher was teaching everything Li Xin already knew of. Combos, Bonus Attack Damage, and Attack Streaks. SpaceCraft 2 was like a textbook to him.

Suddenly, Li Xin snapped out of his daydream when he heard the teacher speak again.

"And with the news that has been sending the gaming community into uproar is that the former champions that once stood on top of Seven Splitting Seas have moved onto the newest MMORPG game, Pure Aim!"

With that said, the class became extremely noisy.

"What?! Really?! Will Li Xie return too?!"

"Idiot! He's gone! We're talking about Aces right now! They're moving to Pure Aim!"

"I wonder what they'll do in Pure Aim. Although the game is similar, it's more different in competitiveness and genre. After all, SpaceCraft 2 is an RTSand Pure Aim is an MMORPG."

Li Xin felt a sharp pain in his heart. If he wasn't betrayed, would he have been moving to Pure Aim along with his team instead of being solo? Such thoughts made his head dizzy, it was as if he didn't know what to do.

Suddenly, the bell rang. Li Xin quickly left the room, he didn't want to hear the students talk about his former team when he could have a leisurely time during lunch.

However, Li Xin was suddenly pulled by the back of his hood as he was about to enter the lunch area where he could relax.

"Brother Li, did you forget you have to take the ranking test?" Dong Hai asked from behind.

Li Xin lightly chuckled, "How could I forget? I was just about to go there."

"Then let's hurry up, we don't want to keep the instructor and the special guest waiting."

Li Xin halted which made Dong Hai stop too.

"What do you mean we have a special guest?"

Dong Hai tilted his head in confusion, "Brother Li, you didn't know that someone special came to our school?"

"Of course I didn't!" Li Xin exclaimed. "I was late for class, remember?"

"Ah, right. But that makes everything better, this is going to be extremely surprising for you."

"A-Dong, why don't you just tell me? Why do you want to make me anxious?"

"Cause if I tell you now, you're going to run away as fast as you can and disappear. In order to avoid that, I have to keep quiet. But just know, this test is going to be different from the tests you've experienced."

"And how do you know that?"

"My dad is close with the counselor. Information isn't hard to find out."

"Ah, I forgot." Li Xin continued in a monotone voice. "Your family is extremely rich and has a deep connection with some of the people in our school."

"Even so," Dong Hai said as he made a prideful smile. "You will always be my brother no matter how poor you are."

"Ah, thank you." Li Xin said. He had no idea what to say since he wasn't poor at all. Li Xin has made hundreds of thousands to million from earnings. "Anyway, can you give me some information about the special guests? Some hints at least?"

Dong Hai made a thinking face and said, "Hmm, I guess I can tell you that she's from one of the best teams of Pure Aim."

"Ah, so it's a girl and she's from one of the best teams of Pure Aim…" Li Xin muttered.

"What? Are you nervous?"

Li Xin shook his head. In fact, he was excited. This was going to be his first time seeing a professional in person and see one play Pure Aim up close.

"A-Dong, will she be playing any games or will she only be spectating us?"

"Hmm, I think she'll be playing a Ranked game before moving onto the test."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's hurry up! I'm getting excited."

Dong Hai chuckled. "Who isn't excited? We're all going to be seeing a professional play up close. This is a once in a lifetime chance."

Li Xin nodded. Although he was once a professional and has seen many professionals play, the thrill of seeing one play up close has never disappeared. After all, he's still a fan.

During the walk, Li Xin and Dong Hai didn't speak but the atmosphere was still comfortable. Dong Hai didn't want to bother Li Xin with unnecessary talks since it might ruin Li Xin's concentration.

Even after Li Xin's failed tests, Dong Hai continued to be Li Xin's best friend and believed in him. He felt that Li Xin was a flower that had yet to bloom and knew it was only a matter of time.

Except, Li Xin has already bloomed. But the petals on the flowers had withered long ago.

Perhaps it'll bloom again one day.

When Li Xin entered the room, there were five students sitting on the chairs with the computer setup in front of them. The sound of the keyboard being pressed on could be heard.

"They're already warming up, will you be okay?" Dong Hai whispered worriedly as he entered the room behind Li Xin.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine. I've always been at the disadvantage anyway." Li Xin said with a light chuckle.

Within a few moments of Li Xin and Dong Hai entering the room, the door behind them opened again. The two turned around to see their instructor and the special guest.

"Professor!" the students behind them said in sync.

Li Xin was left speechless, he didn't expect someone who was destroying the competitive scene of Pure Aim to be here. Everyone in this generation who played games knew who she was.

"The Tactical Goddess, Su Mingyu."
