"Newbie, you're not bad." MasterOfSwords said as he got up, a wide grin appeared on his face. "Too bad your opponent is me, it'll be the end of you."
Lancer didn't reply, he only watched MasterOfSwords's movement carefully. He was on guard at all times after he saw how fast MasterOfSwords could dash towards him. If he lost focus for a second, then he would've definitely been cut.
There was one thing Li Xin hated, it was arrogant players. There was a saying Li Xin really liked, it was "to have true strength, you must know when to be humble" and that was why Li Xin never boasted his amazing abilities to anyone.
If someone wasn't as good as him, he would teach them a few tricks and tell them some tips to help them get better. However, Li Xin felt as if the person behind MasterOfSwords was a really arrogant others who only brought negativity to others.
This only fueled Li Xin's anger and swore that he wouldn't fight. No matter how much difference their skills were, Li Xin trusted that his SpaceCraft 2 skills wouldn't abandon him. He was that confident in his capabilities.
Li Xin commanded his character to get into a defensive stance when he saw MasterOfSwords ready his sword. He could more or less predict what move he was going to use.
The moment MasterOfSwords disappeared from Lancer's peripheral vision, he immediately swung his spear diagonally. To others, it would seem as if he was attacking air, but he was pre-attacking the area where MasterOfSwords would appear.
And that would be his right.
"Agh!" MasterOfSwords grunted as his HP depleted.
Now, Lancer had the advantage with more health points and stayed at a distance. After all, that was the spear's biggest advantage, it had more range.
"MasterOfSwords, show me your skills." Lancer said.
MasterOfSwords made an angry face. "Are you taunting me?! You'll regret it!"
"I didn't mean it like th-"
Lancer had to cut off his own sentence in order to block MasterOfSwords's attack. Now, Lancer felt it. MasterOfSwords's attacks were getting faster and more precise by every second.
"Is this his true strength?" Li Xin mumbled to himself, his attention never wavering. "This might be a good match after all."
Lancer knew if he let MasterOfSwords go on like this, he would lose since MasterOfSwords' rhythm was getting better and better.
"Perhaps he's entered the Zone?"
Lancer didn't worry about it, it was his turn to counterattack. With a quick upright swing of his spear, he knocked MasterOfSwords out of balance.
Before MasterOfSwords could recover, Lancer sent a kick at his chest which sent him flying backwards. Since he had a little bit of time, he decided to check his HP. Surprisingly, it was the same as MasterOfSwords's HP. Both of them only had half of their health left.
"This guy is good, he knows he can't beat me using his offensive attacks so he decides to chip away at my HP. Not bad." Li Xin said with a smile.
Lancer charged at MasterOfSwords with his spear at his side. He prepared for an attack he was studying back when he was interested in Pure Aim. But after a day, he stopped since he wasn't interested in it anymore.
"Now then, let's see how fast of an EPM* I can perform in this game." Li Xin said as he formed an excited smile.
Thankfully, Li Xin had studied the skills of what his character could do. Luckily, he also had the ability to dash…well, not really. Because Lancers are mostly slow, they have an ability that could enhance their speed for fifteen seconds.
In fifteen seconds, he had to perform as many effective actions as possible in order to deal the utmost damage to MasterOfSwords.
"Well then, let's do this."
When Lacer was within enough distance, he activated "Haste '' and quickly blocked MasterOfSwords's attack.
"Now then, let's see if Li Xie still has it." Li Xin said with a chuckle. At this moment, he had stepped into the Zone, but he wasn't all the way in yet.
Click. One Slice.
Click. Second Slice.
Click. Fifth Slice.
After three clicks, he was at the fifth slice. But Li Xin felt like he could become even faster. He felt like a champion once again, improving every second, and most of all. He felt like Li Xie.
Cut, slice, jab.
Those effective actions were repeated for fifteen seconds and over fifteen seconds, he had performed at least forty effective actions which was absurd in fifteen seconds.
MasterOfSwords staggered back as his final HP was depleted. His last words were, "How could this be?"
Lancer watched MasterOfSwords's character disappear. At the same time, Li Xin saw someone get up from his seat and leave the room.
"That was MasterOfSwords?" Li Xin mumbled to himself before he felt someone shaking his shoulder. He took his headset off and turned to his right to see Bing Qiling giving him a thumbs up.
"See! I knew I could trust you! You're an amazing player."
"Thanks." Li Xin replied but cursed in his mind. 'Now you show some respect after I kill someone? Tsk, just like my old teammates.'
"Professor, did you see that?" Su Mingyu asked in disbelief.
"I did." the professor replied. "I can't believe someone who's been at Rank D for almost two years could perform something like that."
"Perhaps…could he have been hiding his skills?"
"That, we don't know about that either."
"Why?"
"Because whenever he is asked to play, he refuses. That was why he was stuck in Rank D."
"Then what about the times he had played?"
"I don't know about that either, this is the first time I've seen him play."
"What?!" Su Mingyu asked in shock.
The professor nodded his head. "If you want more information, you should try asking Dong Hai. He's said to be sworn brothers with Li Xin, he definitely knows more than we do."
"Which one is he?"
"The one with brown hair and brown golden-ish eyes."
"I see him, but it's really shocking that we haven't discovered Li Xin yet."
"Why is that?"
"Because the amount of effective actions he performed in those seconds could only be performed by players who are close to professional level and professionals."
"Perhaps we've discovered a hidden gem."
"Indeed, he just needs a little refining."
EPM IS EFFECTIVE ACTIONS PER MINUTE*
