Lancer and ManaLess went at it. Neither of them was letting the latter land a single attack on them since one single attack could lead to their downfall.
Lancer was immersed in the battle, he was analyzing his opponent's every movement. If he was able to predict ManaLess's next moves, it would give him a huge advantage.
However, ManaLess was thinking the same thing. Their thought processing seemed to be similar to each other. However, one was going to be better than the other.
Lancer formed a smile on his face. For the first time, he was able to find an opponent that was able to keep up with him in this game. The first few opponents he defeated were too easy, it was as if they didn't use their brain at all. No disrespect, but that was how he felt.
Li Xin pressed several keys at a quick speed and performed an ultimate move. However, his opponent seemed to be doing the same.
<
<
A sparkling rainbow bear charged at Lancer and blew a huge wall of fire towards him. The ultimate attack could deal more than half an opponent's health or maybe even one-shotting them.
Lancer bent his knees slightly. By jabbing his spear at a very quick speed, he was able to create several mirages of the spear. However, that wasn't all. The jabbing speed would gradually increase and it would soon create a pair of wings. That was why it was called <
When the two attacks collided, a huge explosion erupted and smoke filled the area. Both of them were blasted backward.
However, Lancer used this as a chance to get to attack ManaLess. Normally, players wouldn't dash through the smoke because it depleted HP but Lancer didn't know of this. He dashed through the smoke like it was nothing.
When Lancer saw ManaLess who let down his guard, he immediately performed a combination attack he learned from his opponents...and Dong Hai.
<
The attack was a quick move that made the spear sink deeper into the opponent's body causing more damage and slashing it diagonally. There was an "X" shaped mark on ManaLess's spell.
ManaLess didn't expect Lancer to charge through the smoke recklessly and attack him when he was recovering his mana. Because of this, his health was depleted to half.
"That was a reckless strategy, but a good one. I would've never expected someone to charge through the smoke."
Li Xin grinned, however, his grin turned into a frown when his health had been depleted by a bit. This confused him since he doesn't remember taking any damage from ManaLess at all.
"It seems my health has been depleted a bit, why is that? I don't recall you landing an attack on me."
"It must be from the smoke. If you didn't know, some smokes deal some damage because of the chemicals inside. That's why I didn't expect you to charge through the smoke."
Li Xin facepalmed, he should've learned more about the game before he played. But he didn't regret his decision, he still had more health than ManaLess who used magic and physical attacks which gave him a huge upper hand.
But that didn't make him feel any better. After all, in a game, anything could happen. It's not over until it's over, those were the words Li Xin stuck to when he once lost for celebrating too early. It wasn't a pleasant memory.
ManaLess dashed at Lancer with the spear in one hand and his other hand was a spell he was preparing. But knowing Lancer, he was most likely able to predict it. That was why he prepared a spell Lancer couldn't dodge.
ManaLess jabbed with his spear, but Lancer easily sidestepped to dodge the attack. He mentally grinned, he copied the move Lancer did to him and swept him off the floor.
"How does it feel being on the ground?"
"Not so good."
ManaLess was able to land one hit on Lancer, but it was only a "ChipDamage" meaning it only dealt a small amount of damage to him. Nonetheless, damage was still damage.
But that wasn't what he was aiming for, he was aiming for a CriticalDamage which would deplete Lancer's health more than an AttackBonusDamage would.
"You're planning something aren't you? That face of yours is too serious." Lancer said.
"Possibly, but even if you know, I doubt you'd be able to dodge it."
"Seeing that you're this confident in your attack, I'm looking for it."
Over at Pastel's situation, nothing eventful was happening yet. Since they were both BattleMages, both of them knew of their strengths and weaknesses.
Pastel kept a distance from Deviant, she planned to cast a ranged spell that would slow their opponents down. However, Deviant had other plants.
<
A gentle purple and pink light appeared as Pastel was suddenly blinded. But that didn't mean Pastel wasn't able to attack either. She quickly activated a counter spell.
<
Below the ground, water started to appear. Although the name was Rain of Balance, what it did was completely different. Sprouts of water would erupt underground causing the ground to shake and become unbalanced.
It was the perfect spell to cast since BattleMages needed to be balanced to bring out the full potential of the spell.
Considering how Pastel's fight was going currently, it was going to be a battle of spells and who can conserve their Mana the longest. The moment one of them used up all their Mana, it was a guaranteed loss for them.
Su Mingyu who was watching this became more interested, even entranced. The players she was watching right now didn't seem like players who were Rank D. But as they say, one's rank doesn't define one's skill.
"Professor, do you think you could form a new team using these players?" Su Mingyu asked.
"I can." the professor replied. "But why though?"
"Isn't it obvious? I want you guys to form a team with the players I pick."
"Ha?! Are you crazy?! Even if that happens, who's going to coach them?"
"Of course you're going to show them. Who else will? Moreover, they seem like quick learners so there's no need to overcomplicate things."
The professor was speechless.
In the background, the battle was getting more intense.
