Chereads / The Alpha And I / Chapter 5 - Cici's POV

Chapter 5 - Cici's POV

Ash's arm is wrapped around my waist sending bolts of electricity up my spine. I smile as we walk through the doors of the infirmary. The sunlight warms my face even though the air still has its winter chill, I don't feel so cold with him stood next to me and I close my eyes to relish in the feelings I'm experiencing. When I open them again I can't help but gasp. The colors are so, vivid. I look around taking everything in.

Life was so fuzzy through my human eyes but with my wolf I can see everything clearly and so much better. I stopped walking in the process. I look up and Ash's face. "Beautiful." I whisper reaching a hand up and placing it on his cheek. I hadn't really noticed how beautiful my mate was considering I met him in the middle of accepting my wolf back into my dying body. I can practically feel my wolf purring in delight. He smiles down at me and places a hand over mine.

"You don't look too bad yourself." He grins with a glint in his bright blue eyes that tells me he has the same need for me as I have for him.

I smile back. "All of these emotions are new to me." I say. "All the old Cici felt was fear." I can't help but growl at the word as more feelings swarm back. Ash growls with me. I stare into his eyes, captured by their blue color.

I can feel my wolf nudging me to tell him. "I know about my wolf, Maya." I say, a dark seductiveness seeping into my voice. His eyes widen and he takes a step back. "A lot happened to me during my change." He nods. "As you already know. I am not helpless. I am an alpha female. My true place is fighting alongside of you as your Luna" I say, "but not like a normal mate, I really do mean beside you, not for you." I add. He nods.

We both stand there. I can't anticipate his next move but when it comes, I am shocked. He slowly walked towards me again, I never once take away our eye contact. I almost stop breathing altogether when he bends down only an inch from me, I finally loose contact and close my eyes as he kisses me.

I freeze when he cups my cheek, and his lips touch mine. I have no idea what to do but I'm swallowed by the scent and taste of him as I let instinct take over. He wraps his other hand around my waist and pulls me closer, a growl escaping from his lips. I grin and reach up wrapping an arm around his neck. I shudder as I can feel the electric shocks from touching his skin runs through my body. He starts to move his mouth down the side of my neck. The sparks become more intense as he goes farther.

I gasp as his mouth meets where he will mark me. I can feel him grin at my reaction and then he gently sucks on it and places his canines over the spot. I gasp again and let the sparks engulf my body. Without even thinking I lean my neck to the side and pull him closer. "Mark me." I growl. He stops and pulls back staring into my eyes. His eyes are a bright gold color, a sign that his wolf is in complete control. I am sure my eyes reflect his but in my own special color. We stare at each other. "Um, Alpha, Luna?" I hear a voice say right behind me. With a growl I spin around grabbing whoever's behind me by their neck and flipping them onto their back. I lean down and growl into the eyes of Paul.

"WHAT?!." I hiss piercing his shoulder with my claw. His eyes widen at my tone and his eyes say all I wanted to see... an apology is writing within them even when he doesn't say it. I growl again for good measure and stand up. He is still gaping at me even when I lean down and grab his wrist pulling him off the ground.

"For the darkest, "scariest" pack in the U.K you guys suck." I say, spinning around and grinning at my mate. He growls and his eyes darken but I don't even blink. My eyes are glistening with the tease I shot at him and his lighten in response with that same need filled glint. He's probably just mad that he didn't get to mark me, but I honestly don't care right now.

"Hmm, so what's up Paul?" I say turning around.

"It's about your father." He says. I growl, so does Ash.

"What about him?" I growl again.

"You have to come and see." Paul says. I nod and follow him. We walk to the pack house where there is a giant circle of people surrounding something. I frown and push past the people. A body is lying on the ground... a very bloody body. I crouch down on the ground and dip my hand in the blood. Pulling is back I take a whiff. I choke. "Is this..?" I ask looking up at the pack. They nod.

"It's one of the border patrol wolves from our pack." One of the pack members let me know. Behind me I hear a growl. For a second, I can feel the fear spike through my wolf. The growl is so loud I can hear it echo into the distance. I turn my head. Behind me is a massive dark grey wolf. Its stance is menacing and warning.

"Ash." I whisper. The wolf looks at me with an angry and pained look on his face. He shoots me a look of complete devastation before he rips though the crowd and takes off into the woods. My wolf growls.

One of the pack members start to go after him. "No." I say. "He needs space." They nod. I turn back to the body and lean down to examine the scratch mark embedded into the chest cavity.

"This is a threat." I say, staring up at the pack. "From my father." I say again. They all growl. I look up at Paul. He nods. I take a deep breath and stand up brushing off my pants.

"For those of you who don't know me, my name is Cici. My father is the Alpha of The Midnight Sky Pack." Whispers start to travel though the crowd, but I continue. "I am also the mate of your Alpha Ash." The whispers increase. "From what I know this death threat means war. And as the rightful Alpha of The Midnight Sky Pack, I promise I will not let this go. I will avenge his life my taking my fathers." The whispers stop.

All the pack stares at me. One by one they drop to one knee. I frown, this is new to me. I look around to see them all doing it. I can feel my wolf start to take over. She starts to howl. A loud and strong howl that also echoes. The pack starts to howl too. The howl of Alpha Ash is long and clear even above the rest, but his is laced with a pain... a pain I wish I could remove.

After I helped recover the body and take it to a more private place to await burial, I had spent two hours talking to the family of the fallen wolf. Many of the members were touched and thanked me for coming to talk to them personally, but all I kept thinking about was how this was my fault: How I had brought this attack onto them. I don't know why my father would do this after sending me here himself, but I was sure as shit going to find out.

Darkness settles over the valley as I sit on the balcony in Ash's room that will be ours from now on. Paul sits next to me also admiring the beauty of dusk. "When will he be back." I ask interrupting the silence.

"Not tonight." He responds. "It's a full moon, everyone's out."

"Not me, I don't want wander off somewhere and not find my way back."

"You won't lose your way." Says Paul. "But you aren't marked yet. The first full moon after a she-wolf finds her mate she is in heat." I nod. I had no idea what being in heat was like and I wasn't sure how to feel about it. "But as you haven't been marked you can't go out anyway as in heat any unmated male is going to want to take you for himself and Ash would not be pleased". I nodded again, I knew I would never be able to be forced into something I didn't want, especially when all I wanted was Ash! But I understood that I shouldn't put the other unmated males into a position where they can't help but try.

After a few minutes its completely dark. The bright full moon started to loom overhead. I look over at Paul who is looking at the woods with a hungry look. "Go, you're unmated too so it's not like staying here will help. Go Beta." I command. He looks at me and then lunges straight over the balcony into the forest below.
