After eating breakfast, I nearly crawled back to my room to get ready for "our really busy day" I air quote my dad sarcastically. Of course, in my dad's mysterious nature he never gives a clue so I don't know how to dress, or where we are going. In my teen rebellion I decide to wear my sweats and hoodie I put on this morning and put on my athletic shoes. This way I'm comfortable. "To hell with them, why would they keep it a secret for so long!" I nearly scream. Surprised at my new found rage. I hear a knock on the door. "Honey, are you okay" my mother calls out. "Come in" for the life of me I never understand why parents and teens have conversations through doors, Dahlia thought. My mom walks through the door as sad as ever. I can tell this is painful for her too. I'm sure it was hard on them to keep it a secret for my own safety. I know I should be more grateful and appreciative, but coming from my point of view, knowing you're going to turn into a monster isn't something to look forward too. Teen rebellion at it's finest. "Mom it's okay, I understand why you did it, it's just really hard to wrap my head around, considering I was human only a day ago". "Your father said to pack a couple days worth of clothes, we are going on a small trip, make sure your clothes are warm it can get cold where we are going" my mother said back. I unintentionally rolled my eyes out loud at her comment. "Young lady, things may have changed, but please don't disrespect me, even if you don't consider me your mother anymore, I am still your Aunt". Before I could say anything my mom walked out, slamming my door. I've never seen her so upset in my lifetime. Now feeling guilty I comply with her request. I throw a couple pair of joggers, sweats and long sleeve shirts into my back pack and go and grab my toiletries. Looking at my haven one last time, I walk out with anxiety not knowing what to expect next. I make my way downstairs and my dad is the only one to greet me. "Where's mom?" I choked out. "She is waiting in the car for us, please go easy on her, it was hard for us too. If you need to take your anger out on someone take it out in me, I can handle it. Emma's been through a lot as well" Ethan replied. "I'm sorry dad, I don't know what's gotten into me, I shouldn't be taking anything out on you guys" I say with tears starting to form. "It's okay, let's get ready to go, everything besides your stuff is packed". "Okay, where are we going?" I finally muster out. "It was suppose to be a surprise, but we are headed to Ravenwood Island" stated Ethan. "Ravenwood Island?" I said. "We will talk more about it on the way up there, don't be afraid Honey" my dad replied. Per his request I make my way to the garage where I see my mother with tissues and puffy eyes. I could kick my own ass at how upset I've made her. She has always done everything for me and has always been at my side. I opened the cab door and throw my bag in and then move to my mom's door. I open her door and I give her a big hug. "I'm sorry mom" I say through tears. "Of course you're my mom and I'm sorry I upset you, it's not your fault, you did the best you could" I tell her. We didn't notice dad was staring at us from the garage door smiling. "Let's go!" my mom says with a bright smile. "Okay!" I say and wipe away my tears. With us all falling into our seats, my dad starts the engine of the truck and we start to make our way down the gravel driveway. I look back at the only home I've ever know and take in its appearance like it's oxygen and my life depends on it. I think to myself, "what will this surprise visit to Ravenwood Island have instore for me?".
