Chapter 3 - Saved by a Doctor

Chung-Cha's Perspective

....

After a few seconds, my body became numb. It was as if the sensation left my soul, telling me I nearly escaped death. I could not open my eyes or feel anything at all besides a tingling sensation around my chest.

No memories greeted my mind as I let myself succumb to a night of deep sleep. I did not know who I was or my name. I had no recognition of everything except the words kept ringing inside my head.

"Do not kill…. Learn how to forgive."

Those were the remaining words my mind could only recognise. But I had no idea who the freaking tarnation said that to me. All I could think was…. I had to remember them.

"Maybe it was my neighbour?.... What's his name again? Am I alone in this world? Who am I?"

As I bombarded myself with questions without answers, I finally realised my name.

"Chung-Cha"

As soon as I heard someone calling for my attention, I peeled my eyes open and jerked my body. Upon analysing the place, I could only guess that these white walls, alcoholic scent, and clean paintings told me I was inside someone's office, probably inside a hospital.

My eyes wandered around the merry lane and spotted a desk filled with nothing but documents. Written on those papers were diagnostic tests and names of patients I did not know and cared about.

Besides the stack of papers was a frame without a picture, unlike those paintings hung on the wall. It surprised me that someone placed a picture frame without a photograph inside. But I did not focus on that right now.

"Why am I here? And why can't I remember anything?! Am I becoming old?! But I know I just turned eighteen…. WHY DO I KNOW THAT, BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING!" I murmured, while biting my towering nails.

If someone noticed me talking to myself, they would deem me as a mad girl. However, that thought never crossed my mind, since I was the only one inside this room... Well, not for now.

The doorknob beside me shook, telling me that someone was on the other side. Nervousness finally kicked inside my senses, wishing I could run away. But there was no way out inside the room, besides the entrance door.

"Nobody's home!" I instinctively said, while covering my mouth, regretting what I had done. "Stupid, Chung-Cha! Now they know I'm here!"

The man never listened to my words and slid the door open. Upon stepping foot inside, a bloke with dazzling hair and a remarkable white coat welcomed my eyes. He had a pair of glasses that suited his style, and that jet-black hair completed the man's look. That guy also had a stethoscope hanging around his neck, with a clipboard grasped in his hands.

This stunning man was without a doubt a doctor who tended my wounds, considering that he went inside the office to greet me. If he was not that person, I would not know who that could be.

I got up from the couch and groomed my hair, touching my shoulders, wanting to give an exemplary first impression. Upon checking everything, I breathed my last breath, excited to say my name. All the worries I had vanished before me as I greeted the Korean doctor.

However, before I could even speak, the doctor interrupted my sentences. "Can you walk? Do you feel anything different? Pain. Discomfort? Do you remember who you are?"

Since his voice entranced me, I only replied to the man with a nod. The doctor shook his head and took a paper from the document. He then slashed something on the texts and crumpled the paper back on the bin."

"Take this and scram. I don't want to see you around my hospital," the man instructed, with his eyes glued to his desk.

He refused to meet me in the eyes, since I was a stranger inside his office.

"Eh? O-Oh…." I said meekly, while lowering my gaze.

All those expectations shattered like shards of glass from a crashed window. Those efforts I did went into the drain as the man at my fore wanted me gone...

That arrogant man handed me a brown envelope without looking into my eyes. I took the slip from his hand and checked the contents inside, only to see a bundle of Korean won (or paper money). I widened my eyes and closed the envelope, hoping that this world was just a dream. But I peeked once again and found out that the packed money belonged to me.

If I had to guess it right, this cash was enough for me for a week.

However, despite knowing these circumstances, I still cannot remember where I had come from. No matter how hard I gripped my head, the memories of my past never resurfaced. It all remained as a fuzzy remnant that hindered me from viewing it with my own eyes.

The doctor's voice alerted me once again. He went towards the door and slid the gate open, while inviting me outside.

"Get out of my sight! I have things to do other than babysitting you," the guy said, with his eyes narrowed down at my figure. "You've wasted enough of my time. Leave before I call security."

"Were you the one who saved me? And where did I come from? All I know is my name. And I am Chung-Cha….If I really need to leave, let me thank you for-."

Before I could even finish my sentence, the doctor forced me outside and slammed the door shut on me. I could not retort at him, since he was the one who saved me when I fell unconscious. I did not even know who I had become or how long I was asleep inside that office.

But right now, all those questions became a quest that I needed to find. With these little funds I received from the doctor, I made myself out of the hospital and discovered the world.

......

This is a short part of Chun-Soon (the doctor)

"Get out of my sight? I have things to do other than babysitting you," I said, with my eyes narrowed down at the girl's figure. "You've wasted enough of my time. Leave before I call security."

"Were you the one who saved me? And where did I come from? All I know is my name. And I Chung-Cha...If I really need to leave, let me thank you for-."

I never liked my patients thanking me for what I had done. Since I could always do better, there was no place for their words inside my heart. And countless doctors could have done the same.

All I could do was set up a front and ask this girl to leave….

I pushed the poor girl forward and slammed the door shut in front of her. People might call me rude, but I had other things to attend to. I had a busy day ahead of me, with all the patients storming inside the emergency room.

As soon as the girl left the hallway, I went back to my desk and checked the documents. However, in the back of my mind, the image of that girl greeted my buzzing eyes.

"I don't need to see her. That girl is a stranger whom I never met before. She's nothing but a complete fool like the rest of the doctors and medical staff inside this hospital," I exclaimed, while tapping my fingers on the table.

However, that lass was also something special. She had bloodlines of both a werewolf and a human, which nobody had accounted for before throughout history. And even if the ancient people did, the werewolves would kill them right off the bat.

Vampires and Werewolves were on the loose fighting each other even today. The two planned on going into war after the Brood hunted down most of the werewolves around Seoul, South Korea. "Moonlight", which the werewolves called themselves, also hunted down the vampires.

The thought made me laugh, since these two factions quarrelled like kids playing in the park. And the worst part was….those injured creatures would go to our hospital, begging for their lives. But as the head doctor, I could not choose my patients.

After heaving up a sigh, I glanced back at the trash bin and took the crumpled paper in my hands. That paper contained all the information I gathered on the girl. It involved her blood samples, DNA, and whatnot without her permission. But after saving that girl's life, I would gladly take this information as my paycheck from her.

"Urgh….If only that old man wouldn't text me some stupid things," I grumbled, thinking about the text I received from the old man.

I got up from my seat and exited my office, planning to track down the werewolf girl. Since I had the power to fiddle with my schedule, I got out of the hospital, babysitting this stranger out in the den of vampires living in Seoul.
