Chapter 7 - Creeping Closer (1)

When I first heard the words "vampires" and "werewolves" my mouth could not help but chuckle up a storm. But upon browsing the wrinkling pages of the book, those jests I thought became actual findings backed up with reasonable facts and descriptions. It enlightened me, unlike no other books I had read before.

"But why do I remember I've read something before when I have amnesia….? This doesn't make any sense at all!" I exclaimed, while scratching my head, with my pair of eyes narrowed at the scribbled pages.

The strands of my hair turned spiral when I did not notice that I continuously brushed them. Who wouldn't when someone saw a mixture of both handwritings from a doctor and the printed ones. It did not feel the same, considering the massive words written on a page.

But despite these overflowing descriptions, those words sunk inside my mind as if the knowledge was for me. And I had an inkling desire and interest to browse these notes.

I did not pay attention to the time and went onward for a few hours, reading such a masterpiece. Chun-Soon had ebooks on his ipad, but the internet lacked more data compared to his written notes.

It took me hours absorbing these books in one go. And when I finally gave up, I rested my back on the bed and stared at the ceiling.

From what I had learned, werewolves and vampires were presently at war against each other. Those two factions still butt heads against each other even for today, regardless of the era.

Werewolves had the ability to move faster than a speeding car. They had different forms, which they could unlock based on their lineage. The werewolves named their forms numerically; first, second, and third forms.

"According to the textbooks, nobody has unlocked the third form. But that contradicts Chun-Soon's research….. Where the hell did he find all of that? And even if he's bluffing, those shreds of evidence are like something a witness would say," I pondered to myself, while staring blankly at the white ceiling.

Besides the forms, these werewolves could also summon pets to their aid, unlike vampires. They also had a keen sense of their surroundings, which dialled up to eleven. And those werewolves had body regeneration compared to the vampires. I'm sure they were stronger than any being living on this planet.

"Stronger than aliens," I presumed.

Vampires had the same abilities as werewolves. However, instead of that flashy movement speed and heightened senses, they could zoom through shadows and fly. Whatever the wolves could do, vampires could mimic it. But every time they used that ability, vampires needed to consume blood afterwards, especially in a fight.

"I guess that zooming spell is the only thing that outclasses the werewolves?" I asked myself, while saying what I understood from the texts.

After a few minutes, I returned to the shelves and returned the books I read. I kept the ones I had not read at the sides, since I planned on finishing them soon. I still had a lot of questions about why Chun-Soon threw me inside this cell…. room, so I had to make the most out of my time.

"And maybe Chun-Soon would even praise me!" I exclaimed, with my giddy feet dancing to the mute tune. "Not that it would happen."

But as soon as I organized the book, the door from Chun-Soon's office opened. Since I only knew Chun-Soon, I immediately thought he was the person who entered the room. Fortunately, before I could shout anything, the man's voice echoed first, alarming me about the matter.

"Chun-Soon, my friend, you left something on your way back!" the man shouted, with his footsteps drawing inside.

"M-Min-Joon? Why is he here?" I asked, whilst covering my mouth using both of my hands.

I froze in place inside this hidden room behind the wall and the bookshelves. Chun-Soon had to move something before opening this place. But considering the way Chun-Soon orchestrated this place, Min-Joon could stumble himself inside here.

"Did he send Min-Joon here?.... No? He mustn't have, since Min-Joon is looking for him! But why? What did Chun-Soon leave behind, which made this man enter his office?"

I asked all those questions, having no answers at all. And there was no time for me to idle around, since the man was already facing the wall.

"Why am I even running errands with your director, Chun-Soon? You need to thank me soon, or else this would add up to your resume!" Min-Joon exclaimed, while chuckling to himself. "And why do I still smell a wolf inside this place? Come on, Chun-Soon! I know you're a surgeon. But for god's sake, clean your fucking room!"

That man kept shouting about a wolf's scent inside the room. If I had to guess, we were the only people inside this room. And none of us should be a wolf…. right? If Min-Joon were a werewolf, he would not yell something obvious to him.

I could only hunch that Chun-Soon had werewolf guests, which he accommodated before we even met.

I unconsciously moved backwards out of fright, considering that I did not know this guy. And the impression Min-Joon left for me was his continuous hatred glued to his eyes, as if devouring a million children in one bite.

But as I went back, my foot hit an opened book I had yet returned on the shelf. After slamming my heel into the book, my body fell on the ground, creating a thudding sound reverberating inside the two rooms.

That noise was enough to alert Min-Joon about this hidden door, with me staying inside. Since he knew that, Min-Joon felt the wall in the opposite room from where I stayed. I did not know why, but I knew that my life was in danger.

"I-I have to hide!" I shrieked to myself, while looking for places I could cover my body.

But my height was nearly smaller than the miniature street light on the road, which made it difficult for me to conceal my presence. However, time ran faster in this occurrence. And that man on the other side of this room would eventually make his way inside.
