Chapter 15 - The Hunters Of Aliron

Chapter 14

Why do I always have ominous visions, like why can't I have one about something helpful for a change?

Emotionally, I visualised all the horrific scenes all around me. Strangers screamed from the top of their voices as they were announced about the purge.

Screeches filled the stadium.

The clouds looked like they were almost at a bursting point: danger was imminent.

As I took steps closer to the stage of the stadium, people ran all around me. I could feel the arena closing in pushing me to breaking point.

As I glanced up the clouds began to hiss and spit like a savage cat. Violent wind, each flake took an unpredictable path.

Icy cold gusts of wind.

Friend or foe, together we were merged.

I inhaled what little oxygen was around me and I was transported someplace else which looked like Boston. The dark grey eerie clouds followed my scent like an army waiting to strike. I walked down the streets of Massachusetts at great speed. People gazed upon me, their faces filled with horror and panic.

A scream filled the air and I was unveiled to a massacre.

I thought this was a dream but I felt like this was more reality than fantasy…

Crowds fighting, tearing each other into pieces without any repentance or sentiment.

Dripping with blood; dripping with regret.

My heart is beating heavily against my chest.

I exhaled and was brought back to the stadium.

All the people had vanished except one person I dreaded to see.

It was Alex blood-drenched all over him, possibly his own from when I stabbed him.

He was ice, cold, unmoving, his azure eyes twitching ever so slightly.

His ebony skin littered thick raised scars.

His face filled with uncertainty and curiosity.

Alex took a step closer.

"It's starting Jamie and they are going to take you and Hazel and anyone that tries to prevent it. Watch your back Jamie because they're already on their way" Alex answered.

I shivered when the words came out of his mouth.

"What do you mean Alex how?" I demanded.

He started to laugh uncontrollably. He kept laughing until I shouted at him to tell me.

"ALIRON is coming. They are after you, Jamie." He stated. Fear flooded over me. I felt like I was drowning in a mess that I couldn't get out of. How am I supposed to go against a government that created Apex Alphas???

Then Alex started to come even closer and pulled out the same knife that I had used to kill him. I got so alarmed as the memories came back and I relived it all over again.

"Wasn't this the knife you used to kill me, Jamie?" He asked but I gave him no response hoping that he'd put the knife away.

"I asked you a question Jamie, is this the knife you used to kill me??" He asked.

"Yes, Alex, that is the one," I replied.

Sorrow built up inside me acknowledging that the only reason he was dead was because of me. No matter what I did I couldn't bring him back.

"Good Jamie, because now I'm going to use it on you!" He yelled.

I didn't quite realise what he meant but before I understood what he was saying he drove the knife through my stomach. The pain began to build up and I dropped to the floor. I let out a few screams as I pulled the knife out clean. I began to rise back up with a little stumble. Alex just looked amused by what he had done but looked frustrated to not see me dead.

"You think that was it, Jamie? Look behind you!" He mentioned.

I turned around to notice the ground turning into a large supply of water which seemed quite chilly to swim in. Before I gazed back at him I was thrown into the pool of water with a painful scream.

Hazel

Sometimes finding out the truth isn't as promising as it sounds.

While everyone was resting, I tried my hardest to go back to those doors and try to meet Atlas again and it worked. I held my breath and got sucked in an ocean of nothingness.

When I was able to see what was around me, I gasped. I was back in that place of never-ending darkness but in front of me stood two doors that were both labelled this time. I stood in shock as I read what they said.

DOOR 1 - ATLAS MAVERICK

DOOR 2 - CRYSTAL ANGELLO

That was the name of my mother. I couldn't remember much about her because she left me when I was born and later I was fostered by a family that couldn't have children. My foster parents didn't tell me much just that they found me with a note saying to take care of me. But the more I grew up the more I wanted to find information about my parents and I found out nothing. I looked at the doors thinking about what they meant to me and chose Door 2. I stepped in and was brought back to the Aliron Headquarters. What was my relationship with this place?

I looked around the place but most of the rooms were locked and needed security cards. Then I remembered what I had seen on my last visit here. I started to try and find the nursery where they kept the little kids and the child such as myself. I searched the whole place and when I reached the top floor, I reached two doors that were labelled Nursery. This was it but was I ready to find out my past?

I breathed in and walked through the doors. My eyes were blinded by the intense colours of the nursery. The nursery was quite big with tables and chairs filled all around the room. Pictures created by children smothered the wall that looked like paintings of stick people holding hands. Children were running around, playing games and having fun. I searched the whole nursery to find my young self but she wasn't there. Then I gave up my search and left. I walked down the glass stairs of the building with a face of melancholy. I was about to go through the white door by the exit when I heard something.

"Come on Hazel don't be scared we are here to help you find your parents!" A person cheered. My 8-year-old self seemed to believe them and went with them but I knew better. They were using me but why did I not remember this?? With no second thoughts, I rushed after them into a room called testing. Millions of thoughts raced through my head as I followed them but one was bigger than the others. What were they testing me for??

As I reached them, I saw myself in a sliver room filled with scientists. I marched into the room as they shut it closed. Young me was located on a chair with lots of headpieces and wires all around me. A scientist was asking me questions about my life and how if I helped him, he would locate my parents.

"Are you ready Hazel?" The mysterious man asked.

Adolescent me looked startled but put on a brave face.

"Yes, Mr Josiah" I replied.

He smiled and told some scientists to begin. One of them came up to young me and cut me on the hand with a long sharp silver knife. Adolescent me made a whimper but let them continue. I stared at my hand hoping to see the scar of that wound but found nothing. I was shocked by what happened next. My skin started to heal the wound within seconds. Not even a scar was there. They continued on the experiments for a couple of hours and received the same results every time. Each scientist was exhilarated with the outcomes I was revealing. Young me looked frightened by the way they looked at her. Like she was going to be on a trip of A stream of anger grew within me. They were using me and little me didn't recognise it. I felt like making them suffer for all the pain they put little, vulnerable kids like me through. We were being exploited and had no idea.

"Hazel, the results you've shown us are quite remarkable. You're a special girl, you know that?" Mr Josiah encouraged.

"Thank you Mr Josiah but can you locate my parents now? I want to know who they were." I stated.

Mr Josiah gave me a huge smile and gave young me a nod. I looked so pleased.

"But before I can find your parents Hazel can you do me a favour please?" Mr Josiah asked.

"Yes of course. You're helping me!" I squealed.

Tears rolled down my eyes and dropped on the marble floor, creating big puddles. Oh Hazel I thought to myself.

"Get the injection ready, she will be the first pure subject," Some scientists said. What the hell were they going to do to me?? I was about to go after them when a white door appeared right in front of me. The door this time was glowing brightly as if it was trying to blind me. I knew what it meant. It was my time to go back. I glanced at young me one more time before I stepped inside the door and was transported back to depressing reality.
