Chapter 19
Real power doesn't come from having abilities, it comes from strength already within us...
I kept constantly witnessing myself descending into oblivion. Whatever I did, nobody heard my painful screams.
Then after what felt like an eternity, I woke up shrieking.
"Jamie, you ok?" Layla asked.
"Ummm yeah just had a little incident," I mentioned.
They all stood around me with faces of concern. Hazel was by me on a couch but was still unconscious. Sweat drenched every inch of my body.
"How long have I been out for?" I demanded.
"Jamie, you've been out for a day," Aanisah explained.
"ONE WHOLE DAY!" I shouted.
With my shouting, Hazel instantly stood up breathing laboriously as she'd just run a marathon.
"Well, that was unexpected." She stated.
"When you guys made that massive burst of energy everything smashed and well you guys umm ...killed some people" Elijah answered.
Me and Hazel both looked startled. How the hell were we capable to have sufficient energy to kill a bunch of people with just a couple of outcries??
"Ok, so how many are we talking about?" Hazel demanded.
"Umm, why don't you look for yourself" Layla announced.
Me and Hazel went towards the door and opened it together. I felt nauseous. The entire area was lifeless on the floor - scattered on the ground like animals. Blood dripping from their noses and necks snapped.
"Hazel, we did this?" I questioned desperately hoping that I would get no for an answer.
"Yeah, Jamie I think we did." She responded.
We stepped back inside the apartment with our heads restrained. I slumped myself on the couch with my hands on my head. Maybe I wasn't meant to have this power when it was able to kill lots of people?? It was like I had awoken a beast inside me and it desired death from others. It was like it preyed on others and smelled their scent from miles away.
"Guys, it's ok we can apply this power to destroy ALIRON!" Aanisah cheered.
"Guys I don't have time for your sympathy. We have to get to the hiding place of ALIRON before the world gets more critical than it already is" Elijah explained.
"What do you mean by getting more critical?" I asked.
Layla went to the TV and turned on a news channel. It was said that over half a billion people have been killed and over 40 bombs have been launched, annihilating many regions in Asia. Layla then turned the TV off and faced us.
"Jamie we have to find the headquarters and you're our only chance" She declared.
"Ok, I think I got this. I need something from ALIRON" I requested.
Aanisah then came up to me and handed me a necklace.
"This is from Dr Summers. One of the heads of ALIRON. He gave it to me as a gift" she explained.
"Thanks," I said.
I sat on the floor with the necklace in my palm.
I breathed in and let all the memories linked to the necklace within. A burst of memories attacked my mind from the building of ALIRON in Boston to a man and woman clasping hands in front of a 1900s building. Then I went in further and unveiled a new set of memories. These were older and more from the early 20s. The man, Dr Summers, was walking in a garden with his wife Claire.
"I'm so proud of you Micheal!" Claire cheered.
"Thank you, darling. The New ALIRON headquarters is just beginning its construction. Josiah says that it'll be a huge success!" He explained.
"Have you created the serum yet or is it still being tested?" She asked.
"We are still executing to make sure that everything is accurate. When we have evaluated everything, we will be able to create Apex Alphas that can finally help humanity from the verge of destruction!" He beamed.
They walked around a bright garden filled with small trees of exotic fruits and flowers distributed around the garden. A granite fountain was in the centre, sprinkling water constantly. Tall honeysuckle and blueberry shrubs were in the back of the field blooming in the daylight. Vibrant red and yellow dahlia and Pink-purple blooms of the rose were in the centre of the field. Perky Orchid-Like Angelonia and Strong and Sturdy Vinca annuals were in the front of the field providing visual and aromatic enjoyment.
Mesmerising.
I looked around the memory attempting to find out anything that could be beneficial for me and fortunately, something caught my eye. Behind the 1900s looking building with stained glass windows and a towering church tower was a flag of a country I knew too well.
"I got it!" I shouted.
