Chereads / I Stole The Golden Eggs / Chapter 13 - Adoption

Chapter 13 - Adoption

Ruby was dissatisfied. She wasn't fond of being used as puppets, moving against her own will.

But, it doesn't matter.

It wasn't important anymore now that everything had already happened. It's not like she could turn back time.

Rather, Ruby quietly mused over the fact of her timely rescue of the twins.

Considering Nine and Ten were the darlings of heaven, the so-called golden eggs of this world, Ruby had a bold idea to take advantage of this situation.

Her eyes bent like crescent moons. She showed a beaming smile as her lips tilted upwards.

She was tempted to adopt Nine and Ten.

Truthfully speaking, she hates troublesome things especially taking care of someone. However, the twins were a one in million treasure Ruby had ever chance upon.

They would gradually grow to become a very powerful existence in the future under the male lead's shadow.

Nine, the older brother, would follow in his father's footsteps and take over the male lead's position as the head of the family. Furthermore, he would also become the number two overlord of the business field after the male lead.

Though, Ruby had read about it before that Nine was extremely ruthless and vicious, way worse than the male lead.

This was obviously caused by his childhood experience.

Meanwhile, the little one, Ten, developed a sly and cunning nature just like a fox and possessed a poisonous tongue. He jumped into the entertainment world without the help of his brother and his family background, but still managed to trample over hundreds of people with his personality alone.

From there, it could be said how terrible Ten was.

Later, Ten would get the title of Film Emperor along with Black Rose.

The Black rose symbolized a beautiful rose that was covered with spiky thorns that wouldn't hesitate to stab anyone and a deep, dark, black color signifying Ten's personality.

Ruby groaned.

The risk is too high.

She doubted she could tie the twins under her control. However, greed really did make people blind. She decided to throw her chips and gambled!

She had a plan to make them willingly follow her.

Ruby didn't sleep at all that night. She roamed around the hospital like a ghost, scaring the people who saw her away.

She spent the time meaningfully. Thinking about how to successfully make her plan work.

At dawn, Ruby went back to the ward.

She thought they were still sleeping, so she tiptoed to avoid waking them up.

The lights were off. The room was so quiet to the point that Ruby could hear her own breathing.

She hadn't realized it yet, two pairs of eyes were watching her every move like a seasoned hunter in the darkness.

Ruby heaved a sigh of relief the moment her butt landed on the soft couch. She was going to check on the twins when suddenly her line of sight clashed with two pairs of black eyes.

Ruby: !!!

Ruby's heart leaped to her throat, almost jumped out of her body in fright.

So scary, ah!

While Ruby was holding her chest, trying to stabilize her heartbeat, Nine turned on the light.

They then stared at each other, waiting for someone to open their mouths first.

Ruby as the only adult, gritted her teeth in surrender.

She embarrassedly coughed before turning to Ten, asking "How are you feeling?"

Different from Nine who was tall for his age and looked strong, Ten looked soft and delicate like a little dumpling. But Ruby's sanity reminded her not to get tricked by that weak, adorable, lovely appearance.

Ten cold eyes instantly changed the moment they faced each other. He blinked in confusion with teary eyes. He was frowning and pouting, making his slightly thin face bulge.

Ruby: "..."

Hold yourself! This is a beauty trap!

As expected of future Film Emperor, your act is so mighty!

That was what she thought, but she went along with the flow.

"What's wrong?"

Ten glanced shyly at Ruby. He looked like he wanted to say something, so Ruby patiently waited.

A minute later, a small tender voice resounded gently, tickling her ears.

"...Thank you."

She might be indifferent, however, as a fellow human being, she also had a weakness against cuteness.
