The minute Ruby's plane touched down, her phone rang loudly. Ruby glanced lightly at the screen then tucked it in her pocket without thinking.
For Guy to call her, it would never be a good thing. Besides, she wanted to enjoy her vacation. What if that brother of hers ruined her mood?
She wisely chose to ignore any incoming calls.
Ruby leisurely walked out of the airport and hailed a taxi while wondering what to eat for dinner.
Since she just brought one bag, she didn't need to stop by the hotel first to put her things.
The driver looked through the mirror, his eyes blinking hard from Ruby's beauty. Then he softly coughed.
"Where should I take you to Miss?"
Ruby tapped her chin for a while then decided that it would be best to ask the driver who is a local.
Ruby told him the hotel address, "Do you know a place which served the best food around here?"
"Oh! It's a coincidence that my family's restaurant was open not far from there. Would you like to try it, Miss? I guarantee the taste!"
Ruby felt a little awkward saying no because she obviously didn't think that the driver gave her an honest review. But when she looked at the sparkling gaze the driver sent to her, she couldn't bear to refuse, reluctantly swallowed down her words.
She said drily, "....Alright."
The old driver beamed from her answers. He suddenly felt invigorated and push through the accelerator.
When they arrived, Ruby could see a small porridge restaurant on the roadside. Though it was small, somehow she felt cozy and warm. So she had a little expectation in her heart now.
She turned her head to the driver who followed Ruby from behind with a smile plastered on his face. Noticing the stare, the driver grinned and laughed out loud.
"My wife's cooking is the best, Miss!"
Ruby only smiled in reply.
The second they walked in, Ruby saw an old lady running out of the kitchen and staring at the old driver with some surprise.
"You've come back?"
The old driver laughed, "Wife! I'm home!"
"How come you are back so fast?"
"I met this Miss. She wanted to eat porridge, so I bring her here."
Ruby: "...." Whatever you say works.
"Oh, you- Sigh.." Although the old lady was embarrassed, she was quite happy too as she wouldn't need to eat alone now that her husband is back.
She faced Ruby while revealing a kind and embarrassed smile. "Young lady, please forgive this old man. He's still too unbridled at his age."
The old man harrumphed. "What do you mean?! I'm just telling her the truth."
However soon, his haughty appearance disappeared and he spoke in a flattering way, "Wife's cooking is the best in this world~."
"What a sweet mouth!" The old lady then slapped her husband in the back, but everyone with eyes wide open could see how flustered she was.
Ruby's eyes stung from the affection displayed right in front of her, "...."
She just wanted to eat normal food, not dog food.
Ruby felt a bit bitter but she also found it funny. She chuckled at the obvious love between the two old people.
It would be nice if she could find a man like the old driver.
It's a pity, she died too quickly before she could even taste the sweetness of love!
So maddening!
Ignoring the couples, Ruby took a quick glance at the menu then calmly ordered.
"Uh.. Can I have this seafood porridge?"
The old lady, as if awaken by her voice, rushed to Ruby. She replied enthusiastically, "Of course! It's my speciality~"
"Young lady, your luck is good eh. There's still some left at this hour."
The driver winked funnily, while Ruby felt really helpless facing these two elders.
