Chapter 1 - A Totally Normal, Non-Magical Girl

She was the topper at school. She was an only child. And her she was climbing the stairs to her dreams, one by one. Life was going good for Hermione Granger. Until on day, a sophisticated owl changed her life completely.

Let's start from the beginning. Hermione was born on September 19th, 1979. Her aunt wanted to name her Linda. Her grandfather wanted to name her Charlotte. And her father wanted to name her Bella. There was a big dispute among the family upon this topic.

"Linda!", said her aunt. "Charlotte!", her grandfather exclaimed. "No, Bella!" her father yelled. "Hermione", her mother said, "like my mother". "Hermione?" asked her aunt, "How're you going to spell that?"

And so it was, she was name Hermione Granger. In the beginning, she despised her name. The teachers at school would (accidentally) pronounce it "Her-me-on" which infuriated her and so would the students, but to tease her.

Hermione didn't have many friends at school. She was made fun off for being a know-it-all, which was like adding salt to the wounds. Her bushy hair would get pulled by the students in the absence of the teacher.

She hated everything about her school. Everything, even the library. What would she do in a school where no one respected her? What would she do in a library with 50 - 60 books? Ugh, so frustrating! She had already finished the last one 2 months ago and it had drove her insane not having any books to read. But she had to bear it all as it was just a lame excuse to leave such an 'amazing' school. And anyways, she would sound like an ungrateful brat.

Hermione was unusual. In a good way of course, but not everyone had the same opinion. Unusual things happened to her. Those, she did not wish would happen to her. She was just 10, about to turn eleven in almost a month. One month, and she would be another year older. Like any other 10 year old who was about to turn 11, she was ecstatic. Even though she knew she wouldn't be able to invite anyone to party (because she had no friends), she knew she was going to get loads of new books from her parents as a birthday gift. Not many children would want that, but Hermione certainly did.

Little did she know that her wish of leaving this school for a much better one was soon to come true. Just one night, and a tabby-witch would change her fate forever.
