Hermione was stunned by how big and amazing the castle was. She couldn't believe that she would be coming here for the next seven years. She was happier than she'd ever been her whole life, but also very nervous.
The castle looked old, very old, but also quiet enchanting. It was beautiful. Huge gates and walls made of stone. There were towers everywhere and it was covered with weeds. It was dark, and they had to get in which was why Hermione wasn't able to see much but she was sure there was a lot more to it.
Everyone was invited into the great hall. Professor Dumbledore, the headmaster, welcomed them.
"Welcome, to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry", he began.
Dumbledore introduced himself as the headmaster, and introduced the teachers too.
"And now, let the sorting begin", he finished.
As Hermione saw the others get sorted, she started feeling anxious about which house she would be sorted into and how she would manage going in front of everyone. The same witch, Professor McGonagall, who had come to Hermione's house so time ago was calling the names.
Sometimes, when a student sat on the chair and the hat was placed on their head, it would take minutes before their house would be determined, and sometimes, no time at all. Hermione wondered why it was like this, and if it'd take time to sort her. She didn't want to be sitting in front of so many students for long.
Some time passed and she saw her friend's name being called.
"Eddan, Emily" McGonagall called.
Emily sat on the chair, and as soon as the hat touched her head it announced her a Slytherin. Emily was pleased and went to sit with her new friends. Hermione hadn't realized that Emily was a pure-blood and was afraid that, when she would be sorted into another house, her and Emily would not be able to meet. She was afraid Emily would make better friends and forget her. She thought that she would be friendless again as she was in her previous school.
"Granger, Hermione", McGonagall said.
Hermione hadn't realized her name had been called as she was so absorbed in her thoughts until another student nudged her.
She nervously went up to the chair and sat. She was shaking head to toe and her heart was pumping faster than ever. She didn't like everyone staring at at all.
McGonagall put the hat on her head and it fell to her eyes. It was huge
"Hmmm....", she heard a voice, "No, not Slytherin, no muggle-borns there."
Hermione wasn't sure how to react to a talking hat. But she was sure it was normal in the wizarding world, so she stay put
"Ravenclaw, hmmm no, Gryffindor?", it asked itself, "aah yes, I know!"
