Chapter 6 - Chapter Four.

~𝕽𝖔𝖆𝖉 𝕿𝖗𝖎𝖕~

Hi lovelies!

Hope you had a good day, enjoy this update!

ⒻⓎⒾ~ the capitol city, Draçon and Solis are polar opposites but work similarly.

In Draçon, it's always dark and the only light in the sky is the moon. However, they have Solis powered hovering lights in place that shine for the effect of daytime. Solis works in reverse, with hovers that carry dark light that is powered from Draçon.

❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥

"Medeis. That's the one place no killings have been reported as of now."

Dalia, sitting in the giant soft pillow points out.

Her face contorted in confusion, her eyebrow twitches in focus.

"That doesn't make sense though." I shake my head. "If they're in Medeis, then why haven't they killed anyone yet?" I question.

"Well they could be somewhere else, maybe at the Temples. Hiding out as an air user." Dalia offers.

"The air users wouldn't stand for that. The Temples are sacred ground for them. You can only enter through invitation." I grimace, a headache coming on that we haven't gotten a good lead in days combing over the files. "The only way we're going to get more info, is if we investigate the areas of the previous bodies."

Dalia throws her file onto the small circular table, a smile beginning to grow on her face.

"Am I hearing what I think I'm hearing?" Her eyes bright. "Road trip!" She exclaims, jumping up from her seat.

Several people surrounding us, turn and glare. Hissing at us to be more quiet. The librarian in charge appears in front of us.

"Deputies, if I have to remind you one more time to be more respectful with your voices I will ask you to leave altogether." She sternly whispers, then curtly disappears into the maze of shelves.

Dalia and I lock eyes, and a second later we bend over laughing as quietly as we can. The laughter so intense it felt like blowing up my insides.

Once we get a hold of ourselves, she nods towards the exit and I follow.

The dark sky of the capitol, and cold air rush at me in one fell swoop.

"So, you ready?" I grin, Dalia's face lights up at the mention, her cute round nose flush from the cold air of the city.

"Ready as I'll ever be." Her beaming smile reaching her eyes.

"One last thing." I remind her. "Try to remember that this isn't a vacation and that we are conducting an investigation, searching for a killer."

"Darling, why do you think I'm so happy?" Her fingers stretched, cupping my cheek. "We are going to find this killer, and put him where he belongs." She warmly states, with an excited glare in her eyes.

"You are so twisted." I breathe, wrapping her in my arms.

"Oh, you love it." She scoffs.

"Hell yeah, I do." A devious smile on my face now too.

❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥

"I haven't seen anything so beautiful in...well ever." On my left Dalia was panting like a dog, bent over with her hands on her knees.

"I. Will. Never. Get. Used to that." She huffs in between each word. Collapsing on the ground, her twelve inches of curls splattering against the rich green grass. Her hazel eyes closed, taking in the full front of the twin Suns with her hands resting underneath her head.

"I can feel you staring, and under normal circumstances I would be extremely flattered if my head wasn't spinning so fast."

Smiling to myself, I plop myself down right besides her facing upwards towards the sky.

Orange and yellow swirl like a floating painting. Chasing each other's tail wisps, and circling the bright day stars.

Solís is known as the battery of the Ecrean empire. With its gorgeous views and luscious land, it's people have cultivated their light abilities to power the empire. It's an integral part of Ecrea, especially Draçon. The night city uses vasts amount of energy to power itself, and Solis the energy there is easily accessible unlike other much needed resources.

"So. Are we going to talk about it yet?" Dalia whispers loud enough for me to hear.

The question hangs in the air between us for a while. Wrapping a noose around me the longer the pause.

I take a deep breath, digging my hands deep into the ground. The soft amber dirt cool in between my fingertips.

"D, it's complicated." I grunt sitting up still pressing my hands in the dirt.

She blows out a huge sigh, before it's her to turn to talk. "Look, I know this isn't easy for you. I know that. But if we don't figure out how to help, and I mean really help, then we don't deserve to be detectives." She pauses, the silence slowly eating at me. "I'm not going to force you to do anything Dalia. I love you. I always will. No matter what you decide to do." Her hand brushes my chin, forcing my rose eyes to meet hers. "Got it? Always, infinity." A small smile begins to creep into her face, when I nod.

She tackles me, and we both go down laughing.

"I still can't believe your my fiancé. How could you have ever gotten someone as amazing as me?" She teases, with a smirk.

"I'm incredibly lucky." I say genuinely. Staring into her eyes. "I love you so-"

Her lips crash into mine, immediately jolting my body awake. Setting a fire in my chest, that isn't possible to distinguish.

Wrapped up in each other, we don't stop until there isn't a single atom of oxygen in our lungs.

A throat clears to our right, breaking the moment. Bringing attention to someone's presence.

Dressed in a flowing sunset gown, vines slithering around her waist an ebony woman with shaved hair stood.

Her bare feet tapping against the ground in wait.

"Terribly sorry to interrupt, but I assume you are the detectives sent by headquarters?"

The woman's eyes a fiery golden, it was like someone had taken a star and put it in her eyes. Her floor length dress was loose around her waist and hands, revealing her bare feet at the bottom.

Dalia and I stand up brushing ourselves off. "Yes, that we are." I respond, flushed.

I can hear Lilith desperately not trying to burst out in laughter besides me, her giggles escaping her mouth.

"Good, then let's get to business, shall we?" She promptly turns, and begins walking forward. Over the hill, a city comes into view. High skyline, and hover mods everywhere. The bustling city, continues doing its own thing as we enter.

The woman leads us to a tall, wide gate eventually. She walks to its left and presses into the brick on the side. Her fingers move ina pattern, reciting something under her breath I can't quite make out.

A few moments later the gate opens out into a giant yard, with poor disheveled landscaping. A dirt path that goes straight to double doors of what looks like a luxurious manor.

With two pillars on each side of its entrance, the home was painted bright vermillion.

The woman pushed open the doors, revealing a dark interior. Unlike the outside, the interior of the home looks organized, clean, and structured.

She disappears further into the home, the darkness swallowing her whole.

"You think she knows anything?" I hear Lilith whisper.

Her inquisitive eyes, are searching the area, suspicious of everything.

"I don't know. But by the way she easily navigated to here, I'd say she knows enough about Solis."

I whisper reply back.

The woman calls out from the darkness. "Over here is what you're looking for. It happened last week." Overhead lights turn on, as her voice fills the large room. Towards the far end, she stands over the holo graphic display of the body.

The room looks like a main space, with the inviting fireplace, homey rug and chandelier the size of maybe the suns themselves.

"No signs of struggle. That's interesting." As we approach the holo version of the body, there was no sign of blood or dismembered limbs.

"What was ruled by the examiner?" I ask, further inspecting the body.

"The body has no bruises, and no puncture marks but death was the result of poison."

She answers, now on her phone scrolling.

"There wasn't any bruises or anything? That means he must've ate something or touched something." Lilith states. "His file said he was a private teacher. So maybe we should talk to some of his students."

"Alright, let's head over there." I turn towards the woman on her phone. "Can we get a list of his students?" She taps her screen a final time before looking up.

"Already done, just stop by the department and they should have it ready for you. If we're done here I'll be going, I'm sure you can show yourselves out. Very sorry to just leave you but I am in a bit of a hurry something unexpected has come up." She tries a small smile and rushes out the double doors. "Oh and also." Her head pops back in. "If you need anything, just stop by the address at the bottom of the list." And with that she leaves.

I look around the crime scene, one last time. And find a pen rolled underneath one of the couches the body is between. I move the couch and an inch to get a closer look. The pen looks expensive, made with an obviously fancy material.

"Darling, I think I found our poison." I grin to Lilith.

❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥

"So where's the first student?" Lilith asks, trying to peek over the table for a look at the list.

We're sitting outside the cafe across the street from the department. The sun still brightly shining down at us, I look at the time on my phone and notice it's almost time for dark. The dark lights will turn on soon, which will make it harder to find the address.

"It says here twenty four solar street. But Lilith, I have a weird feeling about all this. There's only two students that he taught. Plus, you saw that place, it was huge. That can only mean one thing."

"He was a noble, yeah I'm getting a weird vibe too. I think he was paid a lot because he was a private teacher but still it doesn't make sense that the killer would poison him instead of the usual M.O. This one is different somehow. More calculated." She thinks out loud.

"So what do you think we should do?" I ask, trying to figure out whether we should continue searching tonight or start fresh tomorrow. "I'm thinking we should probably head to an Inn before it gets too dark."

Lilith inputs, elegantly sipping her drink.

"Well then, it's agreed. Away we go." I gulp down the rest of my dark roast and stand up.

Quiet hurried footfalls, patter near.

Lilith's eyes go a little wider, hinting behind me.

I hear her voice before she reaches the table.

"We have a problem. A big one." The woman from before stands by the table, her face troubled and eyebrows pinched.

"The two students you're looking for?" She huffs out, winded and exasperated from rushing over here by the looks of it. "They're missing."
